How do I re - arrange Windows Mail folders?

I'm a wonderful user, but I don't know how these things work, so I'm referring to the experts for advice.

Somehow... my folders in Windows Mail has redesigned and are now completely out of use.  How can I put the files in order, with the Sub correct folders where I want them to appear?

Thank you in advance for your help!

If you want the XXX folder to be a subfolder of the YYY folder, just drag it to YYY and let him do. If you want a folder to be a subfolder, drag it into local folders and let it go. Bruce Hagen

You can do this through access to your web browser or Windows live mail

How can I get Vista "Windows Mail" to check mail using my connection local (LAN) internet?

I know that the Ethernet connection works Ok, because I can use it with a standard Web browser; only the mail tool can't seem to see or use.

Whenever I tell the Windows Mail email 'Send and receive', he wants to 'connect' for remote access or one of his three choices (listed above and direct exclusion of any connection to the local network).  It works with remote access, so once I have spend that I should be Ok. but I can't make it work directly.

In Windows Mail, go to select Tools, accounts, your account email, properties, connection.  It shows for the connection?  You
should leave this setting not selected, in which case Windows Mail will use the IE connection uses.

In addition, under Tools, Options, connection, the first checkbox must be checked, and the second box unchecked.

If everything which withdraws, but you still have the problem, the account may be damaged.  Remove account, restart Windows Mail,.
    then recreate the account.

  • . All of my Windows mail folders were empty and all applications on the toolbar are dark, when I turned on the computer. How can I get back them?

My husband and I share the same email address and use the same computer.  All e-mails and applications on the toolbar 'his side' of the computer are very good, but me disappeared including send/receive.   I got emails that I downloaded, but do not read.  There an idea of how to recover emails and applications?

It is not at all what you mean by the 'toolbar '.   You use Windows Mail in Vista?  If so, you can search the *.eml try to locate emails (see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm for background), but you will need to provide more information, because it is not clear if you do not see the files or toolbars in WinMail (try to view |) Page layout) or if your all start menu disappeared.  You can also try a system restore, but it seems that you should also check for viruses and malware, according to your description.

  • How to recover emails from Windows Mail?

I have recently reinstalled Windows Vista Home Premium and have now a new OS works perfectly. Beforehand, I used, and now I want to continue using Windows Mail I have place and running in the operating system reinstalled my email address.

However, all of my old emails remain in the folder of C:\windows.old\users\(my account \appdata\local\microsoft\windowsmail).

I guess I missed the boat with export before the re - install Windows Vista and then later import so can suggest you how I can move my email of in my old Windows Mail for my new Windows Mail, ideally keeping the same structure of folders (Inbox, etc.,).

Similarly, is it possible that I can now get my contact list?

    Thank you.

You can try file | Import | Messages in winmail to bring imported, or you can try dragging that the eml files by top the list of an open message Winmail folder and a fall only and they get incorporated into this folder.  Otherwise, my OEX program (www.oehelp.com/OEX/ 32-bit only) allows you to import from a directory of eml files.  The contacts must be under the users\ (oldaccount) \Contacts directory.

  • How you software on Vista windows mail

Computer took a hit of malwhere. And now it won't let me get in.keeps ask for password but still no go. How can I get rid of windows mail on vist and its beginning all over again?

You cannot reinstall Vista share.  But the issue is the message store, and you can set up a new base of messages.  All you have to do is rename the parent directory of the message store and then WinMail will implement a new.  Navigate to the location of the message storage (C:\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows mail notes that it is hidden and you must go to control panel |) Folder options | Display and enable the display of the hidden files and folders) then go up a directory and rename the directory from Windows Mail to Windows Mail old.  Then create a new directory named Windows Mail so that it replaces the former and is completely empty.  You can then start WinMail and it will act as if it had never been run.  You can also just change the value of the root to be stored in the registry in another empty directory (for example c:\winmailstore\) and WinMail will then use this directory as the message store.  Once you do this and its no longer works, you can use the file | Import | Messages and point to the old directory, or you can simply drag and drop them into folders.

See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm for background on the Organization of message store and be wary of the antivirus, which leads to corruption - see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 .

Also, before you reset everything, you might try to compact and repair the database and see if that fixes the problem (using www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/).

  • Importing saved Windows Mail folders in new Windows Mail program

I'll have to re - set up my Windows Mail after the death of my old hard drive. I am trying to import my old files from my Windows Mail Backup in my new Windows Mail. I was able to transfer the former folders of the backup but when I go to import it recognizes not all files. The error reads: "no messages are located in this folder or another application is running...". "I read several threads and it seems I also have to transfer via a file called folders.dbx, but it is not a list. I did a complete search on my C drive and nothing. How can I get these old records imported without this file?

    Thank you!

Windows Mail does not dbx files.  Copy the store directory of all message on the desktop of the new machine.  Then right-click on the file and go to properties and make sure that they are not read-only.  Then go to file | Import | Messages in WinMail and choose the format from Windows Mail 7 and point to this directory.   See also here for general information: www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm

If you can not always get messages in folders, you can create a new folder in WinMail and open it so that it displays a list of empty message.  Then, open up one of the subdirectories containing eml files in Explorer and drag an eml file on top of the list of message empty folder and drop and you will see it is embedded in the file.  Once you get a job, you can drag and drop all eml files at a time, as long as they are only the eml files.

  • How can webmails transferred in Windows Mail - I transfer back?

I accepted a few updates and since then, my Inbox of emails on the web shows no message (which means that my cell phone does not receive emails). Windows mail displays messages 'disappeared', but I want to be able to work in the way that I'm used to.

Please can you advise how to get the emails visible in the web-based service (Yahoo / BT Internet) and how to prevent recurrence.

I'm an individual, residential consumer and need for nice, clear instructions please.

    Thank you

You're welcome, Bron.   But I'm not sure what the problem is now.

The steps I gave should allow the same new e-mail messages appear in three places: Windows Mail, Inbox of browser, mobile phone.  If you do not want new message in Windows Mail, clear the check box that you have found. You can also remove your mail.btinternet.com Windows Mail account, which would be to remove the messages that you have already received in Windows Mail.

I don't know anyway to get old messages that are already in Windows Mail in your Inbox in browser or a mobile phone.

  • How do you zoom in Windows Mail?

Due to the poor vision, I bought a 24 screen. Windows Mail show only the message as a small strip in the middle in the preview pane. How do I Zoom out it on the sides?

You might find something achievable with display setting | Text size and Magnifier together.  A certain size can workout with her enlarged for you on another size.
