How do I uninstall outside firefox extensions

If Firefox doesn't launch/start even in safe mode, is there a way to change the profile directory to get rid of the selected extensions?

My prob is solved now, I think, but would like to know this for future reference

You can manually remove the extensions, for details, see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_extensions#Uninstalling_manually

  • I installed Firefox (10) sync on my laptop instead of my desktop. How do I uninstall, so I can install on my main computer? In the only option of synchronization tools is "Synchronize now".

    Question
I installed Firefox (10) sync on my laptop instead of my desktop. How do I uninstall, so I can install on my main computer? In the only option of synchronization tools is "Synchronize now".

    Hi Rachel!

There is no need to uninstall anything, both devices will share information and that there are no 'master-slave' logic on Firefox Sync. All devices are identical.

Take a look at this article which explains how to configure your computers: How can I set up Sync on my computer?

The important part is to select "I already have an account" when you set up your second computer.

Firefox 3.6.17, Windows 7 - want to uninstall Skype Toolbar extension. I have it turned off but the uninstall is dimmed. I went to the file extension in the profile to remove, but it isn't there?

What in your Windows Add/Remove Programs window, you see Skype Toolbar it? If so, maybe you can uninstall it from there.

  • How can I register on Firefox Sync so that when I uninstall Mozilla Firefox from this computer and reinstall my settings for someone else, won't there?

Or just delete my settings and data in the Firefox folder that contains my profile only user on this computer, leaving the browser installed, but does not display my settings?

I want to assure you that all my settings and data will be always saved in my account of Mozilla Firefox, so that I can install the browser on a different computer and be able to connect to my account to see all my bookmarks, etc..

Nevermind, I figured it. Thank you.

For users having the same problem, I just uninstalled Mozilla Firefox from this computer went to the start menu and searched %AppData%, clicked on the "Roaming" and deleted the Mozilla folder. If it won't let you do this, make sure all the things Mozilla are closed and uninstalled. You can always sign in your Mozilla account on another computer or if you reinstall the browser on the same computer.

  • The new Amazon firefox extension prevents the redirection.

Of course, this happened a couple of days. My firefox, which is always updated, suddenly stopped displaying many Web sites. The problem was how a page looks completely WHITE. After a bit of investigation, including a few cycles to uninstall/reinstall, I realized that all the pages of the problems were trying to perform a redirect using a meta refresh tag. The info on the site of support (here) says this was related to the configuration of the browser, but I got the tag configuration properly set to false (the default value of value, which * allows * redirection). I actually tried to adjust for real and, curiously, when I did I got then the message from browser saying that the redirect was blocked, and when I clicked "allow" it went thru! To make a long story a little shorter, the problem has proved to be the EXTENSION of FIREFOX AMAZON OFFICIAL - who has been updated on 10 December. When I removed this extension and restarted my firefox, everything started working properly again. I notified Amazon of the problem, but I thought that it would be important to post this notice here, as well, because I imagine that other users probably have the same problem.

If you encounter this problem (and your "blockautorefresh" configuration setting is correctly set to false), click on the Tools menu (right bars, upper horizontal) and select "Add-ons." On this screen, the tab 'Extensions'. If it shows the 'official Amazon firefox extension' you need to remove this. It told me to restart the browser at this time here, but I did, just to be sure. Which corrects the problem.

For the record, I am running Windows 7, 64-bit with service pack 1 operating system. And my firefox is up-to-date with version 42.0.

The rest of my comment is not correctly displayed for a reason, so this is where, without the newline that clearly has a problem: If you encounter this problem (and your "blockautorefresh" configuration setting is correctly set to false), click on the Tools menu (right bars, upper horizontal) and select "Add-ons." On this screen, the tab 'Extensions'. If it shows the 'official Amazon firefox extension' you need to remove this. It told me to restart the browser at this time here, but I did, just to be sure. So it can be hosted on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/video-downloader-player/ , I would believe that it would be required for the extension to be included in tools-> Add-ons-> Extensions and be installable.

It's frustrating. Some of the programs which run at Windows Startup 'cleaning' can change the settings of your browser. Can you make sure that they do not affect the settings of Firefox files?

The next time that happens, could you check if there is a problem of a broken modules page or if extensions were actually removed? One of the reasons for the empty page add-on to have a list of extensions would be a corruption of database extensions Firefox. You can force Firefox to rebuild the files as follows:

Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button. This should launch a new window that lists the various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Leave this window open, switch back to Firefox and output, either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) File > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then rename these files you will find:

    • compatibility.ini to something like compatibility - old.ini
    • Extensions.ini to something like extensions - old.ini
    • Extensions.JSON to something like extensions - old.json
    • Extensions.SQLite to something like extensions - old.sqlite (may not exist depending on how long you have used this settings folder)

When you start Firefox back up again, he should study your profile folder and other files to rebuild the list. He will probably ask to approve you some of the extensions. Once things settle down, could you check back the page modules.

Reappear extensions - or are they really gone?

Also, you can start your profile folder Firefox containing your backup settings. This article has tips on it: back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox.

How can I get rid of it or how can I

There is a rash that goes around, and the solution is not yet clear 100%. I suggest try reinstalling this way:

    Clean reinstall it

We use this name, but it is not about the deletion of your settings, it comes to ensure that program files are-own and contain no alien code files. As described below, this process does not disrupt your existing settings. Don't uninstall NOT Firefox, that does not need.

    (1) download a fresh Installer for Firefox 37.0.1 of https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ in an ideal location. (Scroll down your preferred language).

    (2) close Firefox (if applicable).

    (3) to rename the program folder

    (Windows 32-bit folder names)

    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

    TO

    C:\Program Files\OldFirefox

    (Windows 64-bit folder names)

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

    TO

    C:\Program Files (x86)\OldFirefox

    (4) run the installer you downloaded in the #1. It should automatically connect to your existing settings.

    Any improvement?

Note: Some plugins can only exist in this OldFirefox file. If it is missing something essential, present in these files:

    • \OldFirefox\Plugins
    • \OldFirefox\browser\plugins

  • Why did I surf canyon when it does not appear in my firefox extensions or windows programs

I have extension surf canyon. I do not install. It's not in my firefox extensions or in my windows programs. It interferes with my navigation and slows down my pc. How can I get rid of him?

    See this: http://malwaretips.com/blogs/surf-canyon-removal/

"Surf Canyon got on your computer after you install a freeware software (record video/streaming, download managers or PDF creators) who had delivered in their installation this browser hijacker. This browser hijacker is also included in the Installer Custom on many download sites (examples: CNET, Brothersoft or Softonic), so if you have downloaded software from these sites, the chances are that Fast Search by Surf Canyon has been installed during the software installation process. »
