How downgrade Presario CQ45 - 104TX from Vista to XP?

bought Presario CQ45-104TX in August 2008 and since then never formatted. But now I want to format the C: drive and install XP OS. Purchased in Hong Kong and the purchase I asked the Bank to install the English version of Vista for me. After the purchase, I divided the HDD 250 GB into four partitions. C: for OS; D: for data; I: for installation; and M: for the recovery partition.
When I try to install XP by booting from CD XP installation, and after some time screen turns blue by saying something like «windows stopped to avoid the crash... If this is the first time, try restarting the computer...» "and these 0 x 000000000 - including the last of them being 0 x 00000007. Then I tried Recovery Manager if there is a solution for formatting a certain training and installation of Vista. And I couldn't find the system recovery, which, in my understanding, format the entire hard drive (including C, D, I, M partitions), and then only installs a copy of Vista.
The question is how to format my C: drive and install a copy of XP? (while leaving the other intact partitions)

Lets discuss in the first place, VISTA

If you don't have a VISTA DVD Setup, there is no way for you to do a clean install of VISTA.

HP recovery disks will NOT be a clean install.

Try using the guide of orev in notebookreview.com for clean installation of VISTA, here

Then on XP,

As mention in thread display, you must sliptream ICH9 sata driver.

If you did it right, you'll BSOD error.

Good luck

  • Can I use the product windows XP from my old CPU key to downgrade my new processor from Vista to XP?

    Vista to XP question

Can I use the product windows XP from my old CPU key to downgrade my new processor from Vista to XP?

N ° decommissioning requires installation of XP from an XP installation cd and a retail product key.  If XP is preinstalled on the old computer, the product key on the label is valid for the copy of XP OEM is installed on your old computer, even if it is still on the old computer.   An OEM license is not transferable to any other computer.

Before you plan to install XP on your new computer you must visit the manufacturer's Web site to see if the XP drivers are also available.

  • How to restore backup files from Vista 32 to Win 8 64 bit?

I just upgraded from Vista 32 bit to Win 8 64 bit.  Vista backup is all what I have.  Is there a 64 32-bit backup restore utility?
Any other ideas other than reinstall Vista somewhere and do a restore and then easily transfer?

    Thank you Andre,

Since then, I understood, after installation of Vista in a VM and had the same problem, my backup has been corrupted somehow.  Fortunately I remembered a message during the installation, all the old system files would be copied to a folder C:\windows.old.  This is the process for a clean install.  Problem solved.

  • How do I change OS from Vista to XP on my Satellite L series

    Hi all

I read where many messages are people back to XP is Vista really bad, and if so how can I change my XP laptop, it's as easy as just install XP on my PC

    Hello Big_K

I'm using Vista more than a year now and I am satisfied. For me it is not complicated and when you use if a period of time, you will see that there is no problem at all. To be honest I don't understand why so many people make a great story with preinstalled Vista. We have new equipped laptops to new standards and equipment adapted to run under Vista.

All the drivers, tools and utilities work well. Believe me, with the right configuration of operating system that Vista will work well and quickly. I guess a lot of people want to use older programs and applications that cannot be installed under Vista and is perhaps the main reason for a downgrade.

Family Windows XP Setup on new models of laptops is certainly possible. Perhaps you will face different problems and must accept that all will not work so well. It is recommended to install WXP SP2 and all the available drivers, tools, and utilities (if the laptop is supported WXP). With SP3, you can face problems. Many people have reported problems with the sound or the Wi - Fi feature.

So, if not necessary, I recommend you to use Vista. Vista is perfectly configured (recovery image) for your laptop model. You can't stay on WXP level all the time. Learn to work with Vista. Maybe soon we will have new operating system on the market. Maybe you should follow technical innovation and not just go back simply because you feel uncomfortable with the old operating system.

To be honest I do not understand why so many people can't accept that the era WXP goes all the way.
It is time for changes. ;)

One last thing: you can install what you want. It has no negative influence on the valid guarantee. Just create a support of recovery before you make changes.

  • How to remove Windows Defender from Vista?

Anyone know how to remove Windows Defender? It is not on the list of programs that can be uninstalled. When I try to remove it from the tree, I get a message that only a "TrustedInstaller" can remove it.

It's been nothing but trouble I got my new PC in August. I spent in Avast and MalwareBytes, but I can't stop the system to get scans in tenacious Defender. I wanted to get rid of it because it will not update install. It keeps telling me that there are updates available, but the progress bar comes in with a small piece of the execution and the stalls.

Updates Windows continues to tell me it is another Defender update available and also stops at install.

Looks like Microsoft could do a better job of coordinating its products. I'm ready to throw the new computer and become a ludites.

    Help!

I uninstall Norton before that I installed Avast. I went to 'Services' and 'arrested' Defender. Then I went to 'Properties' and 'Disabled' Defender. This should at least stop notifications. You can't repeat to you, I got it.

  • Here's how to make a clock from Vista to Tripoli; and what happens if Tripoli had a unique rule for daylight saving time?

Windows is a time zone for any city in Libya. I wanted a clock in Vista for Tripoli. The Libya isn't, daylight savings time, so I had to find a listed city which is GMT + 2, and also did not have the time. There is a pair, Harare (Zimbabwe) and Pretoria (South Africa). So I chose them for my clock.

Now, if it happened that the Libya had a rule time advanced single - to say on April 15 and ending on September 9. No other GMT + 2 city would have this rule. So, what should I do? The only solution I could think of is to manually set the Tripoli to a non-heure GMT + 2 city when Tripoli was the light time of the day and for a non-heure GMT + 3 City when Tripoli was to DST. But is there a way to avoid these manual adjustments? Or would MS knows about the problem of Tripoli and added to the list?
    Thank you
BTW, what is the appropriate category for this question?

    Hello Dick Moores,.

There is no way to change the way it works on Vista. However, there are several third-party software that you can watch that will help you accomplish this. You can use your favorite search engine and look for the application that could help you do that.

    DISCLAIMER OF THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE:

Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • How to uninstall IQUpdater.exe from VISTA? Thank you

Whenever I turn on my computer, a window pops up asking if I want to install IQUpdater.exe.  The only options are "Yes or no".  I think that the TWO '' Yes and no '' could it be installed because I found it in my list of programs.  However, the author of the code also inserted some sort of code that bypasses the operating system of Microsoft (I have VISTA) when a user tries to uninstall IQUpdater.exe.  It puts the user in a loop which is a.  do what Microsoft says to uninstall a program and (b) when the last statement in Microsoft is selected, the computer will display the window asking the user if they want to install IQUpdate.exe and select 'no' just travels the user to control panel.

  • How can I move from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 hp? Is it better to buy the software disk or download the software?

My Hp Pavilion Elite M9340F desktop PC was the best computer I've ever owned five computers desktop and portable three. Hello

It's always a good idea to have a paper copy of a disc (for resettlement and repairs).

And Yes, backup all your data as 'can' happen during an upgrade that is supposed to be easy.

This is a very good guide for what you want to do:

Make sure you go from Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 32 bit to be able to do an upgrade.

«How To Upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 Edition Home Premium»

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/6892/how-to-perform-an-upgrade-from-Vista-to-Windows-7/

    And follow these steps first:

Go to the HP website and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

    http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/support-drivers.html

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=20

Check if your specifications are compatible for Windows 7:

    "Windows 7 system requirements"

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/system-requirements

"Windows 7 Compatibility Center" for software and hardware:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

    Windows 7 upgrade paths:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772579 (v = ws.10) .aspx

And the Microsoft Store where you can get an idea of the price of Windows 7:

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/en_US/list/CategoryID.50726100

For other questions about installing Windows 7, there is a Forum specifically for that because it is the Forum of Installation of Vista, you're in.

    See you soon.

  • Notebook HP Presario CQ40 - 304TU WinXP Vista Downgrade

    Hello

I want to downgrade my laptop HP from Vista to XP.

Could someone please locate the drivers?

    Shiraz.

Because you bought a freedos version, there is no vista recovery job to do.

Your model should ICH9 sata driver sliptreamed on XP installation CD. If you did it right, you'll BSOD error.

Use Nlite to sliptream ICH9 sata driver.
A good guide for driver sata sliptream, here

Note: do NOT use this guide sata driver, your sata driver is below ICH9.

    ICH9 sata driver,

The pilot lies in iaAHCI.inf and is called ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller, here

    Download nLite, here

Some suggestions to avoid problems when installing XP:

1 try NOT all wake sata drivers, use only ICH9--> ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller

    2. use of XP - SP2, much easier to use since many XP drivers were built based on XP - SP2.

3 burn the installer of XP slowly and do not use the maximum speed, sometimes it create errors

    4. choose a reputable support CD, not the one at little cost.

  • Satellite Pro A200GE how downgrade from Vista to XP?

    Hello

I had Satellite Pro A200GE with Windows Vista Business Edition preinstalled in it.

Am not really satisfied with Windows Vista and I would like to downgrade to Windows XP Professional.

I don't have a CD to install Windows XP Professional, but don't know how to install it on a Vista machine.

I tried to boot my Vista laptop on this XP disc but no joy...

Is there another way to install XP on the computer before installing vista?

or I have to buy any disc retailer downgrade?

    Any help appreciated

    Thank you
    Vishal

You can install XP on this laptop. As you say you have to boot from the XP CD to install it on the HARD drive.

But maybe your OS doesn't see the HARD internal disk? In this case, you need to install the SATA driver first. The Manager of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager includes the SATA driver. Intel Matrix Storage manager can be downloaded from the Intel Web site.

During the installation of Win XP, it must use the F5 key to include the SATA driver from an external FDD drive (floppy).

If you don t have an external USB FDD then you can use the program called nLite.
For more information, I recommend goggling for nLite software.

    Check it out ;)

I got my * _Satellite A200-1M4_ * from Vista to XP pro.
Do I have to downgrade the Bios too and please help me with the necessary drivers for * key to _FN_.

    Thank you

    Hi guys

    I would like to add that the Satellite A200 - 1 M 4 belongs to the * PSAE0E * series.

This series needs a BIOS update after installing XP.
The European driver Toshiba page provides a special version of Win XP BIOS.

In addition, you can find the + Installation Instructions on the page of the driver.

This document provides the proper installation order which is very important to get all the drivers and tools work properly.
