How downgrade to XP on Satellite Pro L 300

I've read conflicting methods of downgrading to XP. This should have been in the manual
My apologies if this has already been addressed elsewhere (I could not find if it is)

1 Vista will automatically set up when you turn on the laptop
2. use 'create a recovery disc' for Vista just in case you want to use Vista (2 DVD discs will be made - you need to blanks 2 x 4.7 G)
3 you can run this twice so that you have 2 copies of the 2 discs to keep in different places
NOTE: You cannot run this after installing XP (you can NEVER can get back to VISTA without repurchase it)

4. save drive if necessary as a HARD drive is replaced (for example. Acronis True Image)
5. Insert the number 1 (supplied with the laptop) XP recovery disc in DVD tray
6 turn on the computer and hold down the F12 key to go to the Toshiba start menu, then select CD/DVD
(NOTE: starting can be done in F2 - BIOS)
7 options box comes in replacement warning
8. go in the pages of menus for:
9. "restore back to the box' - If you want XP and you do not have a 3rd party disk partioner (eg. Acronis Disk Director)
If you do not use this point ONLY - a disk partitioner (NOT the point 11).
10. "' restore them were leaving leaves than that" - it would be if you previously partioned HDD - replaces partion 'C' "
11. "restore with the size of the partition 'C' nominated' - use only if you have a 3rd disc part partioner
If you use this it will separate the HARD drive into 2 partitions, 'C' and 'unallocated '. You would be divided into 2 ONLY if you have a
disk partitioner and want to divide the HARD disk into drive 'C' (or 'C' 2 discs) for example. 40 GB for the OS and programs and in the 'G' drive for data
It is for the backup if you need to reinstall windows on drive "C". A trick here is downloading programs save in a folder for example "EXE".
on your data disc. If you reinstall windows, you can copy the "EXE" file to the "C" drive and launch the exe of the program is to reinstall these programs.
You can also copy these and record separately on a disc
NOTE: you cannot see or access the "unallocated" space, so if you select this option without a disk partitioner you are theoretically
reduction of the size of your HARD drive. There is NO OPTION for undo/redo-this if you reinsert the disc XP then didn't make sure you have a handy disk partitioner.

12. you will be asked to swap discs after that 1st disk has finished reading - put in disc 2
13 switch mode normal XP - country, language, time - these can be ignored and made later but you might as well do it now
14. Once you arrive at laptop screen XP will go in a "search for driver / stop ' loop of repetition."
15 be patient here as it does about 3 times. It seems like it in a loop to stop but stop eventually on the XP screen
16. If you have a disk partitioner program and you divide your HARD drive into 2 partitions install the program and go to "create new partion.
You can select here the "unallocated partition" and change to a 'logic' (XP mode) NTFS partition for data with its own player name for example 'G '.
You can also do things like have 2 partitions active 'C' (1 hidden) If you want to have Vista & XP on a HARD disk
Note: Both VISTA & XP have the same key, so you can have both on the HARD drive if you take the path above (16). However, you would be
need to do it in a different order. Let VISTA is, first use the disk partitioner to divide the HARD drive into separate partitions, hide VISTA
and then move to the XP installation. You would then hide/UN hide to use either the OS. Probably not worth on a laptop

You don't have to do things:

17. do not go into the BIOS (F2) - machine will still run XP on AHCI without rationalization drivers - no need to Exchange in "COMPATIBILITY" mode
18. do not pilots - this will be done automatically
19. the VISTA / XP key doesn't have to be known / designated during the installation
20. the 1.5 GB hidden on the HARD disk partition is not replaced

Hope this will be one help to others
Ray

The battery that came with my laptop has begun behaving oddly a couple of months (it's almost two years, Satellite Pro A10). She arrive at about 50% and then immediately fall to about 2 percent. After setting up with this for a few months, I finally bit the bullet and bought a new battery (charge not trivial, I might add). The new battery behaves exactly the same way. Someone has any advice on how to recalibrate battery PC Toshiba laptop, or verify that the problem is with the system and not the battery itself?

    Hi Richard,

Check in options power management Toshiba you have the right setting for your type of battery. In my opinion, there are different settings for long battery duration, high power batteries, etc..

If the problem persists, then I recommend re-installing the power management utility to make sure that it is not at fault, and if the problem persists, then there may be a problem with the power system of your laptop, in which case you will need to return to an authorized Service Agent Toshiba.

You can install a software of digitization of material like Everest home edition.
Or you can check the device id.

In-WLan card properties-> details > Device Manager, you can find something like this: PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_4229
    PCI VEN_8086-> manufacture ID
    DEV_4229-> device ID

Here you can search the s ID ;)

  • How to change videoram on Satellite Pro A120?

    Hello

I own a Satellite Pro A120. The manual says that the A120 is abe to have a maximum of 128 MB videoram (shared memory). I have 512 MB internal memory.
Now he does that less than 8 MB videoram.

I can change it to e.g. 128/64? If so, how?
I am not able to change it in the Bios (Version 3.40).

    Thanks in advance.

From my experience, that is not possible you can not manually change the memory of graphics card everything is controlled by the software (graphics driver).
This means that this driver assigns a certain amount of RAM main memory graphics so it s needed. If a higher graphics card memory is not required while the graphics driver will not assign memory to s shared graphics memory

  • How to use Recovery on satellite Pro L10 with DVD drive broken?

    Hello...

I have a satellite Pro L10, which is virused. I need to recover Windows. Unfortunately, I can not, because the CD/DVD drive is borked.

I tried everything until and including the purchase of a laptop adapter HD, but my desktop computer is not a Toshiba so he does not have the recovery disk.

I've never had to use a "recovery disk" before, so I have no idea how it works - apparently there should be a folder on my hard drive recovery? can someone tell me where I could find it? (I'm quite familiar with the innards of my installation of Windows and have never noticed before). Also, is it possible that this native recovery file has been compromised by my virus?

Default: can it be fixed using an installation of LAN, and if so, could someone point me to instructions? (My BIOS allows booting from LAN, but not USB, which is irritating).

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

    Thank you.

    Hello

First of all you will not be able to use the Toshiba Recovery disk if you cannot use the CD/DVD drive.
Why? Because you need to boot from the CD of recovery if you want to install windows from the CD from Toshiba.

You ask how to boot from LAN?
Well friend; I doubt that you will be able to do.
First of all that this could be possible only if you have a RIS server.
The Remote Installation Services can be installed optionally on Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008.

It's really complicated and not easy for someone who has never done.
If you want you can google a little how to create REEFS but in my opinion it s advisable to buy and compatible CD/DVD drive because the STRANGE can also be used for other purposes

  • How can restore factory settings Satellite Pro L300-100

    Hello

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-100.
It kept freezing then nothing seamed to work on it. My operating system is windows Vista professional. So I decided that I had to do a full restore from CD.

So I put the recovery CD in the drive which has been in the Toshiba without looking, I installed it but it installed Windows XP Professional.
So obviously the wrong disc was put in the box when manufactured.

So I now have Windows XP Professional on my computer none on my drives work.
My cd does not work like obv that settings are not on the disk.

Is there anyway way to restore my computer without the disk that I don't have to buy one when the wrong disc was in the first place. Of course, I know that I should have checked the disk, but it is like an accident full and the disc was not correct even in the first place

    Hey Buddy

First of all a few words in that regard:
    > So I put the recovery CD in the drive which has been in the Toshiba without looking, I installed it but it installed Windows XP Professional. So obviously the wrong disc was put in the box when manufactured.

It was not a mistake or a fault that the Win XP disc with the laptop.
Your laptop computer was preinstalled with Vista BUSINES version and Toshiba portable computers that are preinstalled with Vista BUSINESS get besides a Win XP OS as an option to downgrade!

In addition you didn t receive the Vista BUSINESS recovery disk because the Toshiba laptops with the option of recovery and HARD drive recovery, Toshiba disc creator software that allows you to create an OWN Vista recovery disk.
BUT it can be done if you have not formatted the HARD drive...

You can find lots of information about this recovery disk you manual there are some info and also a reminder has been preinstalled on your system that says; It s is strongly recommended to create a recovery disk.

Well buddy. To cut this story you have just only one solution:
You must buy the drive for recovery from here:

  • How to restore settings orginal Satellite Pro A200?

    Hiya people

I'm new to this thing, but if anyone can help me with my problem, I would be very grateful.
I have a satellite pro A200 which is about 2.5 years and is now running really slow and I was just wondering if it can be restored to its original default? But isn't any recovery disk that I saw on the web that if you hold the zero button while turning on the computer you get the recovery of HARD drive, but for some reason page any, that this does not happen, I also tried several thing but no seams to work.

If anyone out there can help me I would be very grateful

    Thank you

What you have found on the web is not relevant for all models of Toshiba laptops.
I can't say with certainty, but most A200 notebook recovery DVDs has been in the area.

Anyway, first tell us the exact laptop model name and model number.

  • How to enable virtualization on Satellite Pro P100-PSPAE

    HY uall,
I have a Satellite Pro P100-PSPAE with a CPU T5600, it is a core 2 duo CPU with Intel virtualization technology (B.t.w was one the reasons I chose this laptop in particular).

Now my XEN-Manager tells me that this technology is not enabled in the BIOS but I can't find any switch to enable it in the BIOS. What I am doing wrong?

    Greetings Michael

    Hello

Virtualization can be enabled in the BIOS.
But several versions of BIOS don't support such function.

If your BIOS does not have option, then you will not be able to activate!
Sorry to say it buddy, but there is not much to do! :(

  • How to recover my laptop Satellite Pro?

    Hey I met unmountable_boot_volume blue screen so decided to just format the pc, however;

When I select repair your computer, it shows windows loading page "files" and then after all turns black with a white cursor...

I have a satellite installed pro win 7

Any advice on how to get this shit? I'm afraid that if I buy a recovery disk I receive always the black screen with cursor do not understand why this is happening

    Thank you

You can not force HDD recovery works correctly. From my experience, I can just say: either it works or not. If this is not only an option to install the recovery image uses a recovery media.

To be honest I don t understand why you didn't create a support of recovery as described in s operating manuals.

The value of the default BIOS and try again. If you will be faced with the same problem or order the original recovery disk or try to install the OS using the Microsoft installation disc. On this way, you can check the HDD features.

  • How to change HDD on Satellite Pro 430CDT

Can someone tell me where I could find simple instructions telling me how to take apart my old 430CDT to mount a hard drive more? I think replace drive 1.25 GB - with a 4 or 6 GB hard drive assuming the disks that I may need to adapt.

I guess that the hard drive is hidden somewhere under the keyboard, but may not work on how to remove + that + without damaging it.

I have no real experience of this sort of thing - I did nothing more complicated than the new fitting RAM to a less-ancient A120 and change hard drives around on a Satellite 320.

Archives help, unfortunately, but it's fun to read old press releases and ads and see what was considered as performing just twelve or thirteen years - progress in the design of the computer are fast enough, isn't it? Aware that in a couple of years something with less of a terabyte of HARD drive and a quad-core processor will be also awfully outdated and limited my old 430 you like now.

Absolutely no reason practice for this - just out of curiosity and just for fun.

Any suggestion would be appreciated - thanks in anticipation!

    Hello

Replacing the HARD drive is not difficult.
The HARD drive Bay is placed at the bottom of the unit and you can easily access the HARD disk.

To remove the HARD disk drive, follow the steps below.

    1. turn off the power the computer. Unplug the power cord and all external cables connected to the computer.
    2. remove the two screws that fix the backup of HARD drive to the computer chassis.
3 pull the chassis forward by its handle to disconnect the HARD drive.
    4. remove the frame and the brace with the HARD drive.
    5. remove the four screws that anchor the frame on the HARD drive and separate the frame HARD drive.

    That s it

  • How to activate bluetooth on Satellite Pro C850?

    Hello

I'm having trouble if/how understanding I can activate Bluetooth on my Satellite C850D-12V (PSCC2E - 03300JEN). The operating system is Windows 8-64 bit.

The technique of the product (http://www.toshiba.co.uk/discontinued-products/satellite-c850d-12v/) does not BT then, first of all, I would appreciate advice on how to check whether my laptop is equipped with BT

If my laptop has the necessary equipment, should it be activated via the download of a driver (e.g. Realtek Bluetooth Filter Driver Package, version 12.24.0802.2012)?

If my laptop is not equipped BT, this can be solved with a BT USB adapter? What would the specification required for a USB BT dongle? Do I still need to download a driver?

I apologize for the issues. Despite my attempts to research answers to myself, I'm from very limited in this area.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much

    Hi Dino

Your machine according to the specifications of the laptop has no BT module so you have to use the external device. Best solution is BT USB dongle. Visit the nearest PC store and there you can choose one that fits. Talk to your local dealer and I m sure they can help you make the right decision.

Usually, when you buy external device driver is included for installation should be pretty easy and user-friendly.

And please do not apologize for your basic questions. ;) If you have any other questions you are welcome.
