How high is a web page?

So we do pages 900 + pixels wide these days, but I wonder how many vertical content that we can use it before the user must start first scroll - what it sees when the page loads. Is there a rule (or a finger of the mouse) to do this?

It is true that you have to make a guess on the people who will be posted to the site.

For example, if you know that they use all screens of 12 inches and IE6 (relative), which gives you an idea of what to shoot for.

If you have a sense that they all enveloping monitors (surely someone will invent them) who are 36 inches on the diagonal and the latest, the greatest, browsers that tells you something else.

You can get general statistics on the use of the monitor of w3c http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp taking account of a vertical scroll bar and the top of the screen monitor material (toolbars, etc.), you can kind of guess the actual viewport sizes.

If you want to keep people on your page, and does not scroll to the Kingdom (how high is a web page? what is the sky?), there are strategies:

  • Stabilize the header and the tank below is scrollable in a container so it looks that everything on the screen...
  • Make the short page
  • Make the liquid of the page, so it does not hang off the page on small screens or cower in the corner of the large screens
  • Use the panels to Spry tab, or Spry accordions and other Spry content techniques

You can imitate browser/monitor window sizes by window > Cascade and adjusting the size of the floating window manually (drag the lower right). The size of the display window displays on the right side of the selector tag at the bottom of the Document window (1038 x 628, for example).

    I have use the class Web page, but the documentation, it seems you should subscribe to the loadingChanged signal and wait for the download to complete. The download can begin asynchronously so loading() might return false immediately after the definition of the URL.
