  • How high is a web page?

So we do pages 900 + pixels wide these days, but I wonder how many vertical content that we can use it before the user must start first scroll - what it sees when the page loads. Is there a rule (or a finger of the mouse) to do this?

It is true that you have to make a guess on the people who will be posted to the site.

For example, if you know that they use all screens of 12 inches and IE6 (relative), which gives you an idea of what to shoot for.

If you have a sense that they all enveloping monitors (surely someone will invent them) who are 36 inches on the diagonal and the latest, the greatest, browsers that tells you something else.

You can get general statistics on the use of the monitor of w3c http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp taking account of a vertical scroll bar and the top of the screen monitor material (toolbars, etc.), you can kind of guess the actual viewport sizes.

If you want to keep people on your page, and does not scroll to the Kingdom (how high is a web page? what is the sky?), there are strategies:

    • Stabilize the header and the tank below is scrollable in a container so it looks that everything on the screen...
    • Make the short page
    • Make the liquid of the page, so it does not hang off the page on small screens or cower in the corner of the large screens
    • Use the panels to Spry tab, or Spry accordions and other Spry content techniques

You can imitate browser/monitor window sizes by window > Cascade and adjusting the size of the floating window manually (drag the lower right). The size of the display window displays on the right side of the selector tag at the bottom of the Document window (1038 x 628, for example).

  • How can I remove the links on Web pages?

When I open a web page, there are several words on each page, which are integrated links. For example, I was reading an article and in the article, searching for the word was two times more than blue and underlined. When I drove my cursor over that Word, I received an advertisement and a link to search for work or searching for that Word. It happened when I updated to Firefox. He now has also run ads in the lower right corner and which are popping up in ads even when I blocked them. How can I disable these features?

In addition, if you installed the update from a download, can you check your download history of the source? It could be one of these unscrupulous Group sites that install something that grows more in addition to shit on your computer.

    Thank you

There is also an icon with Firefox. (Send a link to this page.) It looks like
an envelope. You should find it in the Manager customize if is not
    in your toolbar.

Type of topic: customization< enter > in the address bar.
In the new window, look for the icon. When you find it, press and hold
the left button on it and move it to where you want it to be.
You can move the icons you want here, but
some icons are locked in place.

  • Some links the web pages were replaced with fixed references on a saved page

I saved a http://www.lilypond.org/doc/v2.18/Documentation/notation/index.html page on my hard drive. The links in the table of contents on the left are all on the original site. I looked at the file on the disk, and this is the case. "An example is < a href ="toc-spacing-questions-1"name ="http://www.lilypond.org/doc/v2.18/Documentation/notation-big-page#spacing-issues"> 4. Spacing problems < /a >

But the original file had links the in the same place (an expert Web site it tells me), < a href = "toc-spacing-questions-1" name = "rating-big-page #spacing - questions" > 4. Spacing problems < /a >

Not all links are changed: some of them in the body of the text are links local. What I find even more bizarre.

Why (and how) Firefox changes the HTML text?

Thanks Finitarry - but the links are changed to point to the original server, not my downloaded copy. That's the problem!

Also thank cor - el. I use "web page, complete" for download.

I think I found the problem, now that you pointed out where I should be looking. I found the original HTML code, and in most cases, the references are strictly local. But in the case of problem, the link contains the name of the file, what Firefox interprets as an application to point to the original file on the server rather than the local copy. Is this is a bug or a feature would make an interesting discussion. I'm going to ask that the web Manager is is what they meant to happen. I'll try another browser to see what happens there.
