How long to learn CS3 Web Design?

Hi all. Just got my CS3 Web desgin and have tried to find out how to make my own website with the help of Lynda.com tutorials. I'm always in the field of the 'essential '. (about 6 hours into it) No 'light has exploded', although I think I have an idea. I hope that it will start to make sense. I have used programs such as Sony DVD Movie Studio and Mixmeister and became proficient at them. But they are a breeze compared to this. Can anyone of you who taught to you give me any advice or suggestions on the best way to get up to speed? I see that this is going to be an ongoing learning experience, and I'm happy in a way that is so complicated that I could possibly do some pretty cool stuff. But right now I don't see light at the end of the tunnel.

A specific request? If I want to do a 'logo' for a header, rather than simply print. I do that in illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver?
AHHHH! I am so lost!

I hope, kidcoconut, that you could soak in the most basic HTML or XHTML tutorials. There are many gifts there. Without this basic training, would delve into dreamweaver as a person who wants to learn to drive a car to start with a course on the engine computer analysis for use by mechanics...

Here's a cool that I attributed to my students:

http://www.PageTutor.com/html_tutor/index.html

but look at what he, Joe here little pleasant pulls on you on purpose from time to time. Pretty funny and devious, which gives a touch of 'fun' of learning. And this training is totally up to do YOU the work in the code from scratch, learning by doing (as my mantra for Cal Poly alma problem goes). It is based not on you sitting there watch hours and hours of video.

  • CS3 Web design works with Win 7

    Hi guys

I'm new to this forum.  I hope this isn't a stupid question!  I'll buy a new laptop that will have previously loaded Windows 7.  A friend gave me a Dreamweaver CS3 Web site design software; Is this compatible with Win 7?

Thanks in advance if you can help.

I just reinstalled CS3 on a Win 7 machine and have found no significant problems.  He settled in the Progam Files (x 86) folder, which is for 32-bit applications.

Strange, but when I select some content for editing, selection/highlight box appears sometimes in an area unrelated to the page for some reason any.  It doesn't seem to affect the editing, but go figure.  I have no idea why Win 7 that would cause.  This is the only hiccup I noticed.

  • NOVICE OR PRO?  How long to learn Adobe Muse?

    Hello

I am a business man with some convenience stores and very busy... I had not luck at all in the last five years with the designers 'so-called '.

I see in the MUSE from ADOBE, they say you can build Web sites without code, which is great because I have no idea what the code is... Laughing out loud

I also start a program of pizza delivery... we expect to be very busy... and I saw "delivery programs" on the internet, as a basis for fast.

But I heard that with ADOBE MUSE, you could even build a database customized for your customers, integrate Google Maps for delivery?

    What would be your suggestions...

    Thanks for your help!

Yes, you can integrate Google Maps with Google Map Muse widget. For the database, you will need to make your end of the hosting/server that thanks to you can create/design of the site, but the CRM management needs to be done on the side server.

You can view the available third-party widgets that can be used as a result here:

  • New web design - learn Dreamweaver first?

    I welcome the Dreamweaver community.

After 30 years in print design, I finally made a decision to learn a little something about web design. With this goal in mind, when I updgraded to CS6, I bought "CS6 Design and Web Premium" package. The package includes Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash Pro. But I'm a bit confused where to start.

I always buy the Adobe "Classroom in a book" series to learn the basics or new aspects of Adobe products. All three applications have equivalents of the IPC and I think I'll but the first IPC Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash Pro?

So that demand, it's the right direction? I noticed on some forums of discussion that some use Fireworks more than Dreamweaver: I want to just make sure I'm on the right track.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Welcome to the community of DW, Clinton!

30 years - which is an experience that you have up your sleeve!

Web Design, fine, it works this way. It is in 2 parts - to start:

    • Design / layout / layout / wired / UI (two see it differently) - but the end goal is the same - to create the "design", in itself, that your site will look like
    • Development / slicing / Compositing / CSSing / PSD - CSS (again, different references) - make the "design", you did in an application such as Photoshop or Fireworks to be "web-friendly" - in other words, making .html and .css files that are the "basics" for a Web site

Most web developers (including me) use Photoshop to create cuts of design (PSD files) we send back a million times the customer to get their approval. Then "decide" elements such as backgrounds, boxes, etc... Then open Dreamweaver, write the tag ""-which is the 'what' you want to display on your website (content, tables, boxes, widgets, snippets, etc...). Then, 'style' using 'CSS' Web site - for the match at the "PSD" that the customer had approved.

That's it: I don't know if I could have put it more!

CSS - Cascading Style sheet - is a piece of code that tells browsers how your website should be displayed. Height, spacing, margins, width, color, type of display, etc... With the birth of CSS - 3, things are even easier. A few key elements that can make the CSS-3 are lets say, Gradients, rounded edges, etc... (for which, you had to use a real .png or .jpg image in CSS - 2). Now, CSS - 3 can give you the same exact effect with no use of an image.

HTML - now that HTML5 quickly supplanted the old web standards, you have decided to start your 'web journey' at the right time, I would say. HTML5 has infinite possibilities of creation 'sensitive' Webdesign - reactive, which means Monotype, multi-devices - for desktop computers, Tablet & mobile phones.

With all that said, that Dreamweaver CS6 has some great tools for HTML5 standards like 'fluid Grid Layout"- with which you create 1 design, code 3 different documents CSS and BAM - your website will be optimized for all devices 3.

Fireworks - certainly usable for web design. CS6 Fireworks has also some great tools such as 'Generator of CSS' gives you the CSS code for an item of the chosen design - in other words, the design in Fireworks, go over it, fireworks will generate the CSS code for you.

jQuery - you should watch this - a few great 'plugins' that you can use in your website design / development. Now that 'Flash' is a kind of death (modern Pocket PCs do not support Flash), jQuery is your friend. Best part is completely open source.

The next step - dynamic Web sites - as its name suggests, you can get in the construction of more "interactive" sites - such as a shopping cart, etc... then once you get a good shot of some basic CSS HTML &. And if you decide to use jQuery, you will get also a script - what is essential to build interactive websites as you progress.

You can take a look at this video on Youtube. I know that there not too many views. But I personally think it's a good place to start with Fireworks - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrJmyYfNu1M

This maybe go a little above your head right now - since you are a beginner to the top. But, feel free to ask questions as and when you have one, and we will be happy to help you! The world needs more of web designers / developers after all!

    All the best.

When something like you describe is reported, most often the user does not understand the layers of high level exist across all pages and updates on the page of your site. If you delete "Layer 1" you may remove the content of all pages of your site.

  • WordPress and Adobe who gather in Web design

A few years ago, I really leaned on the Adobe software for my web design and development. I was able to cut out a massive image I had created and jump them in Adobe Dreamweaver to make the required code changes. Once I learned how, I then go into Adobe Flash and add new features like the old logos that can turn etc.

But now things have changed and everything seems to be done in the web interface or Notepad ++. Simple designs are becoming more popular than ever, because mobile devices don't want an image rich process of loading long whenever they load a web page. Sites like SearchBuzz have only the logo created in Adobe software now.

I agree that CC is a great value for what you get, but PhoneGap appears to be the only way that mobile are focused on Adobe software when it comes to web design and development. And it's really only for the applications.

What else did offer Adobe that can help a mobile web based to flourish?

    Ash

First of all, let's get our clarified conditions.

    Mobile applications-

Here are the widgets that people download to their mobile device.  These applications are built specifically to run on an Android or iOS, Blackberry, etc... Apps don't usually have nothing to do with the web site of the company.  Applications range from updates on the traffic/tracking the weather, your health/fitness, productivity, entertainment, weight loss/dieting, games, GPS, you name it, it's probably not there...

jQuery Mobile is often used to build the mobile application while PhoneGap is used to compile the application for specific devices and then download it to a distribution site like Google or Apple App store game.

    Mobile web site development .

It is a different discipline.  The Web sites that run on desktop computers, computers laptops, tablets and mobile devices are called adapted.  Adobe has many ways to help web site designers to create responsive web sites.

Moreover, there are 3rd party extensions & frames that you can use in DW to go start your sensitive web designs.

    http://www.Initializr.com/

All that being said, if I were to build a WordPress site, I would certainly use a sensitive commercial theme as starting point.  There is no sense to reinvent the wheel.

  • Advice on books for learning CS3 Master Collection

I tried to learn as much as I can of tutorials and just concepts from around the web.  I understand that I will, but think a book or two could help me as well?  I have several sites that I visit from time to time, I don't need help on that front.  Can someone give me some advice on what I should buy the literature?  I have the CS3 Master collection, and I hope to learn Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Dreamweaver and perhaps other programs related to web design.  I heard that the bible series is quite good, but since I'm still considered new I don't really know where to start.  And do not know if this is the place to ask, but as much web design is concerned, I also get a book for coding?

Sorry if this is a topic that is requested every five seconds, but I looked around, as much as I could and it was literally my last option.  And in case anyone was wondering, I ask in this forum, because whenever I go in one program I usually end up in Photoshop, so I guess that those who know Photoshop, know as some of the other programs, also I don't really see a forum better suited to my question.  Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

You'd better to buy individual books for each application.

Some books try to have an overview of several different applications, but they only give the strict amount of information about each of them and are basically useless.

Books like the Bible of series are extremely large (Photoshop CS3 more than 1,200 pages), but do not assume that more is automatically better.

I think they do, some of them just to impress people looking for a book of instruction at their local bookstore.

The Bible and a few other books include a picture CD and give instructions step by step using the provided images.

But they do not really explain how procedures work and why you would probably using this procedure rather than another.

They said basically that, now this, something else, etc.

The series by Peachpit Press Quick Start Guide distributed with the intructions of step by step hand holding.

He explains how and why to do things and has screenshots on every page to display menus and tools, as well as the de facto procedures using Photoshop.

Only Quick Start books give complete information and are usually much more affordable, which is useful if you buy several books for different applications.

Peachpit Press has also another series of books, their series of real world. These are bigger books but without the CD, etc.

Over the past 20 years, I had a lot of different books, but in my opinion, Peachpit Books are the best of the bunch. Your mileage may vary.

CS3 is old enough, I guess you're looking at Amazon or other sellers online. You might even be able to get a reduced price used books through Amazon resellers.

    Good luck.

  • Too many activations on CS3 Web Premium Suite

    Hello

I have a serial number for CS3 Web Premium as a result won in a contest some time ago. But when I try to activate my installation, I get a "too many activations" error. How can I solve this problem and continue to use my product?

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi Liviucmg,

Adobe allows two simultaneous activations of CS3, so if the software has been installed and enabled on both computers before, you will need to disable one or both of them to perform a new installation. On the old computer, start a CS3 application. From the Help menu choose Help > Deactivate > permanently disable: Learn how to enable or disable Adobe applications.

If you do not have access to old computers to disable, you will need to contact customer service via chat and ask them to reset your activations. Cat representatives are unable to technical troubleshooting for older products like CS3, but they can help with licensing and activation. FYI, Adobe have reset your activations will delete the information about the licenses of all your computers, so you'll need to reactivate the computers currently in use.

For more information, please visit: "Activation limit reached" or "connection error impossible ' with Adobe applications. Let us know if you have any additional questions.
