How/where to hook up 2nd monitor

I just got a new XPS 8700 with what appears to be TWO video - in ports, a DVI and a HDMI.  I use a configuration of two monitors with extended desktop view; a monitor has DVI, so I plugged into this port and it works fine.  The other monitor is old and has only VGA, so I bought a VGA--> HDMI adapter.  I guess this gets plugged into the video card HDMI port.

HOWEVER, there is another HDMI port, which is apparently a HDMI audio/video OUTPUT.  It makes no sense for the 2nd monitor into this port, because I don't mean to just output signal from the video card to a monitor/screen, but use TWO monitors at the same time and put in place the extended desktop view.

I'm a little confused by the existence of ports HDMI TWO, one on the video card (next to the DVI in), the other has a few inches apart.  There is also a display port, but I have no idea how to use. I don't want the top screw to the top of the machine or video drivers by plugging this old monitor in the wrong place.

All tips, suggestions, ideas, answers?  Thank you.

Yes, the configuration of your 2nd paragraph would be the correct way to do it. My only preference would be to connect the DVI monitor HDMI port with an adapter and plug the monitor VGA DVI port with the corresponding adapter.

If the HDMI to VGA is the 'decoder' then this configuration ^ ^ ^ would be much more profitable. The converter is usually at least $30 - $40, but the DVI to VGA and HDMI / DVI connectors can be acquired for around $15 - $20 for the pair.

As a manufacturer of computer I I would say that it does not matter if you connect your monitors with computer or offshore, but as a consumer on a Web site you need a guarantee of manufacture, I would say it would be the best idea ^_^

    Hello

Do not forget to check with your system manufacturer, the documentation online and the drivers and their
    Forums (if any).

Your laptop should have a video which will allow to another monitor be hung and more
the built in LCD. You then decide if you want that the monitors to display different
programs or be used as a large screen where you can move programs from one screen
    to the other.

Of course your system, a video camera and its drivers have to support with a 2nd monitor.

  • I closed FF in my 2nd monitor, now it opens only, why?

I moved from the 2nd monitor into the primary and closed it there. I've deleted ALL the cookies/history, I erased the Sessions. Nothing seems to make open upward in one monitor. This happened once before and I didn't fly over to the correct monitor and shut up and it worked fine. This time, I can't do what he's supposed to do. I really want to open on the monitor one because I don't always have it and it's really annoying when it opens here and I think I'm always waiting for him.

It is quite common that the programs Windows remember the location of the last closed window. Can you drag to the monitor 1 and shut up there next time? I see that did not work.

Otherwise, you can rename or delete the file that stores these positioning information. Unfortunately, that will also clear your toolbar customizations. Here's how:

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using

Help > troubleshooting information > "view file" button.

Switch back to Firefox and output

Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then rename localstore.rdf to something like localstore.old

Restart Firefox. Toolbars and the position of the window must be restored to the default.

(Theoretically, it is possible to edit localstore.rdf if you want to try that first, but the format seems not well documented).

I would use a 2nd monitor with my HP all-in-one, but I can't figure out how to do this.  Our it guy says it can be done by using a VGA cord DMI but it does not work.  An another computer guy told me to get a USB cord with a graphics driver and technology at Best Buy told me that it is not possible to use a 2nd monitor with this all-in-one specific.  Please let me know if it is possible and how I would go to do.

    Here are the specifications of your HP ENVY tilted 27-k009 TouchSmart all-in - One desktop PC. Based on the specifications, this model, is a video output any. The HDMI port on the side is strictly an ENTRY;

    3 HDMI input

To connect your computer to an external monitor, you will need to buy an adapter USB-to-video, as EVGA UV plus + UV39 or many other cards on the market.

  • How to calibrate the heart rate monitor?

How to calibrate the heart rate monitor that shows a too high concentration?

    Hello

It is not possible to calibrate the heart rate sensor. However, various factors can affect the performance of the detector.

During training, to optimize the performance of the heart rate sensor, ensure that you wear your watch fits on top of your wrist.

Apple suggests that consider you the clamping Strip before starting a workout and it loosen again thereafter.

The sensor is likely to give better results for the workouts that involve rhythmic (for example running) rather than the irregular movements (e.g., tennis). Other problems that can affect the performance of the sensor include the perfusion of the skin and wrist tattoos.

  • How can I deactivate heart rate monitor

I want to register my pace heart health App via the data of my cup of BP... I don't want no other heart rate data.  How can I turn off the monitor watch heart where it generates no data in the application of health on my iPhone?

    Hello

The health on iPhone app, you can reorganize your data sources, that changes the way that the application gives priority to their data.

A data source which is placed above the other will have priority on all underlying sources that also contribute to the same type of data. Data are not double counted.

More information and instructions for changing the order of sources:

Manage the health data from multiple sources on your iPod touch, iPhone, or Apple Watch - Apple Support

Also, on your iPhone, in the application of the watch, go to: My Watch (tab) > privacy > Motion & Fitness > heart rate. If you disable this setting, however, it will also disable the sensor for the fitness activity for the purposes of follow-up.

  • the 2nd monitor resolution

    Hi all

I'm working on an application that uses 2 monitors.

I have a VI that measures the resolution of the screen.

I want to know the 2nd monitor resolution.

    How can I get that?

    Thank you

    Ritesh

You can use a property node application, the display value-> AllMonitors. Index of this with an array and ungroup the result. This will give you information on the limits of the screen. By subtracting from left, right and top to bottom. You can get the size of the screen.

  • connect a 2nd monitor in order to expand the workspace

All the people who are sitting next to my wife to work hung a 2nd monitor at their consoles portable to give them the extra monitor space to work in. My wife now has a 2nd monitor and a cable which is necessary for the two screens can be connected at the same time - just as they are. They are all connected to the network at work.

But how she has set up in Windows? No work can tell her what to do to implement. Please be as specific as possible non-tech in your answer, that is, do not assume that I don't know!

Sorry if my post has been in the wrong place. It is a portable Windows XP which is a HP Elite. So, what do we do?

XP...  Make sure you have the same image on the computer laptop and external monitor by using the Fn + F toggle key that I mentioned in my previous post. Right-click on an empty area of the desktop.  Left click on properties.  Click the settings tab.  You should see two monitors.  Click on identify.  The external monitor should show that monitor 2.  Click on the representation of the screen on the screen.  You should see below just a checkbox to «Expand my screen...» ' check that, to ensure that the resolution above this area is compatible with the external monitor and OK outside.  You should now see the Office extended to the external monitor.  Windows can be slid toward the new monitor and used as an extension of the screen of the laptop.

Let me know if this can help, or if you have any other questions.

UPDATE! : I had no sound.

    Mike,

Disable the LogMeIn driver from Device Manager and check. There are a few reported issues where LogMeIn driver has disabled the aero thus also changed the screen resolution feature.

-Click Start, and then press on and enter type Device Manager.
-Double click on graphics cards to expand the video drivers.
-Right-click on the LogMeIn mirror driver and then click on disable.
-Restart the computer and see if that helps.

You can try to uninstall the video drivers and then install the driver from the AMD website as given in my first answer.
Note: it is there no trouble uninstalling the video driver. When the video driver is uninstalled, Windows starts with minimum VGA drivers. The resolution of the screen (icons on the screen) may look bigger, but after installing the latest video drivers, the screen resolution will be back to normal.

Please try the following steps and answer results.

  • 2nd monitor for laptop Dell Inspiron 5000 17.

Can I connect a 2nd monitor to my wife's cell phone (Laptop Inspiron 5000 17 Windows 10, bought Dec 2015) - without having to buy something more (video, graphics, maps etc.), except, of course, the 2nd monitor.

I want both screens to be active (and not to replace the screen of the laptop.

Just checking to see if I can do this natively, without having to make changes to his / my laptop.  10 Windows natively support both screens didn't he?

And how to connect - HDMI, USB, etc...

    Ron in round rock

If you want to add an external display, it is not a problem - HDMI is probably the best connector to use.

If you want to add TWO external displays, which can be a problem if your system has Intel or video hybrid.
