How many movies high def. can fit on a 16GB USB DRIVE?

Hi all! I am a newbie with tech stuff, so please bear with me.
I bought a Kogan STB with 1 TB PVR to record my Semi-HD TV HD movies.

It is said to save, you must use a USB key.  There is no internal hard drive. A good question here is to ask: "what do mean 1 TB PVR? I wrongly assumed that the STB has come with a 1 TB internal hard drive.

Using a 16GB USB DRIVE, how many movies can stand on it?

I don't want a cut film to Midway, due to lack of space.

Is there a way to determine how long (in MB or GB) is a movie?

Video recorders usually tell you, in hours and minutes, how much space you have left on your hard drive. But it is that once you save something on a USB do you find what is excluded in this regard.

I'd appreciate any help any of you could give me.
Thank you!
The Steffie.

The size required for the storage of a recorded program will depend on the format used and the length of the film. The term high definition is just simply not enough information to quantify an answer appropriate.

Regarding your 16 Gb USB Thumb drive, you'd be much better off getting an external hard drive 1 TB or 2 TB with a USB connection and an external power source. This should not back you more than just a little more than a hundred dollars or more. Thunbdrive 16 GB is just not made for the task you ask of him.

If the STB Kogan has no settings to adjust for the quality of the recording, simply record a half-hour program and use it as a guide for future recordings, multiplying the space required by the difference of recording time.

  • How many days will I can consume 5 GB internet charge

I get a lot of my mobile company, internet charge 5 GB, I don't know how to quantify this. examples how can I download movies, listening to TV and radio stations line how many hours? things like that.

    Thank you

    Hello EdwinDollete,

It really depends on the movie that you download. Some movies are about 700-800 MB in length (some may be larger). Based on these figures you would handle around 6 movies for the month (assuming that 800 MB per movie (6 x 800 4 800 MB (4.8 GB)).

You will also need to take into account updates for your operating system. For example Windows generally update once a month or more (at least that there is an update of emergency). Just a normal download of updates can easily take up to 500 MB or even 1 GB depending on what needs to be updated.

Software download, can also run in several MB. For example (an extreme, obviously) a complete copy of the Windows operating system, for example, may be 2.5 to 3.75 GB in size.

You will find that sometimes you will use probably more than 5 GB, other times less. Most ISPS charge extra when you go over the 5 GB limit.

Unlimited access is rather more expensive, in the long term, it is by far the best package.

  • How many orders 9600 baud can handle?

I use a motor controller that communicates via a serial port at 9600 baud.  I use the Labview to generate the specific command that we want that the runtime engine, (speed, direction, time, etc.) which is a short string like "/ 1J97E0M\r"each character in the command specifies something to the engine to do.»

Is it possible to calculate how many times per second an order like this can be sent with data at 9600 baud rate?  For example, it is possible to know the number of bits the string "/ 1J97E0M\r" is?  This value consists of 9600 to calculate the maximum rate command strings that can be sent to the controller?  Is it that simple?

    Thank you

The number of bits is obvious, but it is not as simple as that. The engine is to interpret the data, Act on it, etc. This response time/max data rate is specified by the seller.

How many watts/amps is this reader of CD/DVD-SD-R2412 and other toshiba slimline drives?

I'm not sure which forum to post this question in.

I found this link on the site of toshiba American (or maybe Googling with site: toshiba.com)
    http://SDD.Toshiba.com/main.aspx?path=HardDrivesOpticalDrives/CDCombination/SD-R2412/SD-R2412Specifications

But it doesn't say how many amps on the 5V line. If I had known that I would like to know how many watts. I am interested by this.

    And also for others.

I mean us normal users won't get these details as you need. A possibility might be possible:

  • How can I make an external USB drive read-only?

    Hey there, capsfanva!

Welcome to the communities of Apple Support! It seems you need to set permissions on an external USB drive or hard drive. These permissions setting is a great way to improve the security and privacy of these elements. You've come to the right place and you will find the answer below. You must connect the device to your computer and follow these steps:

Set permissions for the items on your Mac OS X El Capitan:

  • How to move a Time Capsule backup to a new hard drive

I've been running Time Capsule on an external FireWire drive Yosemite 10.10.5 running on a MacPro to 2012. It will allow more to perform backups and disk utility fails to remove the disc. When I run the disk repair, either via the recovery disc or a USB flash drive, they are not able to repair the disc and gives me the message: "exit code is 8." The suggestion is to backup the drive and then wipe and restore. I tend to remove the hard drive because it is the second time this has happened; the first time I erased it and started the Time Machine backup everywhere with the same external drive.

However, I am about to upgrade to El Capitan and certainly want the option to return to Yosemite if necessary.

What should I do to transfer the contents of the hard drive damaged to a new drive and always make sure that my computer recognizes it as a backup Time Machine valid? I can clone it right on a new external hard drive?

    Thank you!

Yes, it clones if the drive is still ok.

On a MacPro, you have plenty of space for a real drive... or you can buy a USB key and just to make the clone.

However, my recommendation is to download and run Carbon Copy Cloner. You get free trial use 1 month anyway. Clone startup current Mac to a USB drive or internal hard drive. And make sure it is bootable... that makes it simple to restore a computer to your old operating system running. TM cannot produce a clone bootable... nor can utility that can clone a drive but not to create a boot disk drive.

Just keep the current firewire drive as that is the TM backup... I really doubt that you will get no improvement it cloning.

  • How many modules NI 9505 can I program the FPGA (with SoftMotion) NI 9104?

Hello. This is my first question here. When I try to make the FPGA code to four NI 9505 (with loop position (including SplineEngine), current loop, loop PWM and encoder loop) I simply double code for module four times. I use the NI 9104 chassis with 3 m doors, but compiler returns compilation error (I guess, code does not fit on FPGA). I tried to make the code more simple (I combined some terminals). But it did not help me. Thanks to lot.P.S. sorry for my English.

This message may be a bit delayed - but I did a lot of work to obtain many 9505 modules compiled on a number of different FPGA targets. Seven on a Virtex-II 3 m gate FPGA and eight on a 2 million doors Spartan3 (don't be fooled by the size of the door - the Spartan FPGA tends to be more effective in the compilation of size, but the worst with a timing compared to the Virtex II. The Virtex5 are better all around).

They key is "mulitplex" code - in particular the SoftMotion contructeurs algorithm. Multiplex in this sense means both use the same code for each axis and process things in series parallel vs. Because the constructor requires the backup of important data for each axis between the loop itterations, use of these VI block of RAM on the FPGA vs using large arrays in FPGA fabric.

I have attached a code that will work with LabVIEW 8.6 and SoftMotion 2.2. This will NOT work with 2009 SoftMotion (RT both the FPGA VI changed).
