The bkf files are specific to the Windows XP Backup program and may not be
    used in Windows 8.

Your only recourse is to find an XP system and to restore bkf files
He can use a third-party program to save them, so that they can be
restored using this program on Windows 8. Or instead of a third party
backup program, if you don't have too much data, you can simply be
able to copy them to a CD, DVD or thumb drive so they can be copied
    the machine to Windows 8.

  • How to restore my files after resetting my computer?

original title: how iget back my files after resetting my computer?

I recently had to resett my computer after trying to go wireless, my broadband provider sent me a defective router and my laptop just crashed! I had to restore it back to factory settings and judt wondering if there is any chance of getting my pictures back and my itunes library and files?

If you have an installation clean back to factory settings, you normally wiped your hard drive clean during the process.

    You can try this program:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/Recuva.html

Recuva is a file undeletion tool that allows you to analyze your hard drives or media cards for files that have been deleted or formatted. It presents you a list of files that have been found, as well as an assessment of their potential for recovery, a preview option, and a hex viewer to inspect the content. You can limit your search to files of a certain type (e.g. images, audio etc.) and choose between a quick and a thorough analysis approach. The program also includes a secure deletion option that allows you to permanently delete files that were found while parsing, to avoid any future recoveries.

  • How to restore personal files after moving to them?

I moved some files yesterday about my music. Today, I discovered that by moving these files, I had deleted all the music in my iTunes library and all the information that goes along with these songs (number of plays, last played date, playlists, etc.). I'd really only this information back and I wonder if there is a way to restore my personal files to ensure that yesterday never happened. Thanks for the help and please resopnd ASAP!

Unfortunately, the system restore does not work on data files (intentionally) and there is no program that does what you want for the data.  You can probably restore files to their original location and import the information into iTunes (as if it has been added), but I don't know if it will be kept for other information (and I assume that you have already tried it and that's why you're here).

If you have Vista Business, Vista Ultimate or Vista Enterprise, you can be lucky.  They have so-called saves shadow copies, which are deleted or modified files that can be recovered in case changes/deletions made by mistake. http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Windows-Vista/features/shadow-copy.aspx more information about how to use this feature to: http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/howdoi/?p=145.

If you have Vista Basic or Premium of Vista, shadow copies is not available; However, there is an alternative that is free and the shadow copies feature called Shadow Explorer. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/recover-files-with-shadow-copies-on-any-version-of-windows-vista/.  Although it will not help you this time, it could very well save you in case this happens again.

I'm sorry, that we cannot help you with this problem.  Restore personal files is a relatively simple task, but you also want to rebuild the iTunes database (whose part was removed when the files have been moved because the new location had no place to store/save this information) and it's an entirely different matter.

I hope that the shadow helps if you have this version of Vista.

    Good luck!

It should be a little clearer, at least for me.

What do you mean by "a scan of indexing was performed?

What do you mean by "shares of other files deleted also?

    How the file was restored?

Do you mean that you have run a chkdsk and it detected disk errors and attempted to remedy and that you are now looking to the files created by chkdsk (*.chk files)?

The computer is configured to automatically perform a disk check.  He said this morning it was running a check disk and restore one of my files.  This file has been restored to a version much sooner, as well as several other files when I checked later.  I ran a check of the index that says he would restore the files, but that did not help.  It will only run chkdsk.  I think I'll have my paid gurus do.  Thanks for your help.

  • How to restore old files on my computer?

How in the old files on my computer?  I have not backed up my computer, I used my original cd to restart my computer.  Not very computer and im afraid im going to this ruin once again.  I really need help looking for photos and videos of my grandchildren that I downloaded on my computer also how my computer to run faster, since the restart he got really slow. It also on windows vista was not downloaded new windows 7 my computer says there is no place to upgrade

    Hello

When you reinstall the operating system you wipe the hard drive.

Depending on how you have reinstalled Vista:

    Look for a folder windows.old

"How to restore your personal files after performing an installation of Windows Vista or Windows 7"

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/932912

And you can try this free program to try to recover data lost, etc.:

    http://www.Piriform.com/Recuva

Other meanings, you will need to contact companies for recovery of data, which are very expensive.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

You don't say how you reinstalled Vista. If he got more slow through this, there is something wrong with you reinstalled how he

You should have removed the older OS installed Vista when reinstalling this new copy of Vista.

Normally, when you reinstall the operating system, your computer will be perform better and run faster still.

    Please read this Information Microsoft:

    Hi Kellie,

Save chat on the computer logs depends on the way chat application is set up and if this app provides an option to change these settings.

I would say to contact a lot of fish support and check if it helps.

  • System Restore (with backup) for Windows XP how to restore the files from here?

I saw the other posts for this but they have not answered the question. When I look in the C drive, and open the folder backup (backup C:\My--01/12/23 1134 AM), my photos, videos and documents are not available or are invisisble. When I tried to make hidden files visible, all my desktop icons and all the Start Menu program buttons disappear. I can see the files when I search with a software such as jdiskreport - 1.4.0, but I'm unable to move with this program. When I tried to move them with jdisk... they is locked in the tree of files of jdiskreport. Whenever these trees of missing or file icons has locked, I had to restore to the good previous restore point. In my view, the full restoration of the system (with backup) fails and should be avoided at all costs.

So, if someone knows a way to access these files, I would appreciate the help of course. And please, no answers don't like "cannot not you just copy and paste?" because it is not currently a solution until the files are visible without erasing my desktop and the Start Menu.
