Hello
When you reinstall the operating system you wipe the hard drive.
Depending on how you have reinstalled Vista:
Look for a folder windows.old
"How to restore your personal files after performing an installation of Windows Vista or Windows 7"
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/932912
And you can try this free program to try to recover data lost, etc.:

Other meanings, you will need to contact companies for recovery of data, which are very expensive.

You don't say how you reinstalled Vista. If he got more slow through this, there is something wrong with you reinstalled how he
You should have removed the older OS installed Vista when reinstalling this new copy of Vista.
Normally, when you reinstall the operating system, your computer will be perform better and run faster still.

The bkf files are specific to the Windows XP Backup program and may not be
used in Windows 8.Your only recourse is to find an XP system and to restore bkf files
He can use a third-party program to save them, so that they can be
restored using this program on Windows 8. Or instead of a third party
backup program, if you don't have too much data, you can simply be
able to copy them to a CD, DVD or thumb drive so they can be copied

Satellite L500 - how to restore the menu "repair your computer"?
Hello world
I have a laptop Toshiba L500, Yestaday I tried to restore the system to the factory settings (by pressing F8 at startup high and choose "repair your computer"). In the system has been installed almost, but at a stage of installation drivers to read memory cards and similar - there was a failure (the blue screen and need down) - after that - Windows 7 is not loaded. parsing errors (by means using a floppy disk to another Windows 7 install) says that the registry is damaged, cannot repair.
but the main problem - when you press F8 at startup upward - there is no MORE menu 'Repair your computer' (!) . It is impossible to start Windows 7 predefined. So there's the hidden sector containing Windows predefined (I saw when loading a disc of hatch - Total order could start - and hidden sector was visible). All files in drive recovery HARD necessary are also available.
How to restore the menu "repair your computer"? or how it is possible to start Windows predefined without pressing F8?
> Hidden article exists, I saw it, there are all the files recovery HARD drive (which was in the laptop after buying), but I can't begin to recover Windows because I don't have menu not 'repair your computer' to start the laptop. He disappeared...
Of course, the flag in the Advanced Start menu seems to be deleted and therefore drive recovery HARD option isn't available anymore.
Probably the partition has changed. But in case of HARD drive recovery files are still available on the recovery partition, you can try to create the USB support of own recovery using of workaround:

I guess that this directive should be very useful.

The word file I saved became a shortcut! and I can't open the file. How to restore the file?
Original title: shortcut word fileIt is a problem of "file association". Here is the complete list of all the "file Association" steps I've seen has proved useful before. There is no need to go beyond the stage that solved the problem, but all the "about your computer" & Microsoft controls are very well to do anyway - they would not hurt even if he did not fault. Most people seem to go directly to the last in the list.
On your computer
Run both the troubleshooters maintenance & Control Panel Performance, troubleshooting. [this is just a cleanup operation before more useful steps]
Control Panel, programs by default, set your default programs and associate any type of file or Protocol with a program
[Check IE only] Options Internet explorer, tools, Internet, programs - set are lacking
Microsoft links [read the descriptions on the first linked pages]
Difficulty of broken desktop shortcuts and common system maintenance tasks

Return to another on your computer
Run the System File Checker How to use the tool File Checker system to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or Windows 7 There is additional guidance on this subject in sfc.exe/scannow
and then, if necessary,
3 party links [read the descriptions on the page linked first of all to make sure it matches your symptoms - only this get you far if you]

How to restore my files after resetting my computer?
original title: how iget back my files after resetting my computer?
I recently had to resett my computer after trying to go wireless, my broadband provider sent me a defective router and my laptop just crashed! I had to restore it back to factory settings and judt wondering if there is any chance of getting my pictures back and my itunes library and files?
If you have an installation clean back to factory settings, you normally wiped your hard drive clean during the process.
You can try this program:
http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/Recuva.html
Recuva is a file undeletion tool that allows you to analyze your hard drives or media cards for files that have been deleted or formatted. It presents you a list of files that have been found, as well as an assessment of their potential for recovery, a preview option, and a hex viewer to inspect the content. You can limit your search to files of a certain type (e.g. images, audio etc.) and choose between a quick and a thorough analysis approach. The program also includes a secure deletion option that allows you to permanently delete files that were found while parsing, to avoid any future recoveries.

How to restore a file that has been lost and partially restored?
I have it has not deleted, but when I started my computer a scan of indexing was performed for a deleted file. What was restored was an older version of the deleted file. There were parts of other files deleted also. Or old version have been restored instead of the current version.
I have it has not deleted, but when I started my computer a scan of indexing was performed for a deleted file. What was restored was an older version of the deleted file. There were parts of other files deleted also. Or old version have been restored instead of the current version.
It should be a little clearer, at least for me.
What do you mean by "a scan of indexing was performed?
What do you mean by "shares of other files deleted also?
How the file was restored?
Do you mean that you have run a chkdsk and it detected disk errors and attempted to remedy and that you are now looking to the files created by chkdsk (*.chk files)?
The computer is configured to automatically perform a disk check. He said this morning it was running a check disk and restore one of my files. This file has been restored to a version much sooner, as well as several other files when I checked later. I ran a check of the index that says he would restore the files, but that did not help. It will only run chkdsk. I think I'll have my paid gurus do. Thanks for your help.
