How should I / can I install Windows 8 policies on a Windows Server 2008 system.

Hello

I am currently working on a customer's server that is running Windows Server 2008 R2. They are trying to upgrade their machines to Windows 8.

The problem they have is that they don't want all the extra tiles on metro screen, so I exported a model of how they want it to look. The problem I have at the minute is to install Group Policy settings 8 windows on their server, so that I can put the filter pattern of departure for all machines in the domain.

How to properly install Windows 8 strategies on the system? I downloaded them as files admx on the MS site ready to go, but it is not as simple as I thought.

Thanks in advance,

Kaelan. IARC - Smith

At this miss-information? Was it a change for Win8?

Yes, it's misinformation. It is not true for any version of Windows.
With the exception of the pack family of Windows 7 (updated, not a full
version) the rule is very clear: it is a copy (or a license) for
    each computer.

There is nothing new here. This is exactly the same rule that has been in
effect on all versions of Windows from at least with Windows 3.1.

We see the SATA HDD in BIOS, and if I browse for the drivers, the driver is displayed. I used the command line packaged with the installer to format the drive, just to be sure. It is formatted in NTFS.

I would like to know how to install Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 Enterprise from a USB key, please.

I'm not trying to run either on the USB key, I just need to know how to install from a USB key. I tried Multiboot, grub for DOS and other, but they do not seem to work :/

I am going through a book that uses these two to form Microsoft MCITP: Server 2008 Administrator and if I could install these Via USB, this would save my records and a lot of hassle... basically just for convenience, as everything that I need will be on a stick * lol *.

Otherwise, I'll have to use discs instead :)

  • Hard drives not found when you try to install Windows Server 2008

    Hey guys and girls,

I've spent the last 20 hours, trying to solve the problem of not being able to install windows server 2008 r2 on a new Dell server.

    My configuration is:

    Dell PowerEdge R310

    4 x 1 TB 7.2 K SATA HDD

    Controller Raid PERC H700

I can't even install the drivers that I downloaded from the Dell support site because Windows Server 2008 Setup will not recognize them.  These factors include the Raid Controller, chipsets Intel, SATA etc.

I used the settings default, all changed the Auto Off Ports and vica versa, I put the server in Raid and ATA mode with all the possibilities, but it will be will not detect any HD!

Please help, as it is essential for my health, employment and mental health.

    Best regards

    Sami L.

What OS?  What RAID controller?  How many discs?  The size?  RAID level?

I can't assume that everything is the same, especially when you have a different system altogether which does not support the H700 (so the files would have been meaningless even if Dell had not broken links). :)

  • ESXi 3.5 and when trying to install windows server 2008

I installed ESXi 3.5 on my server and successfully created a first virtual computer on which I am trying to install Windows server 2008 standard. I use VMware Infrastructure Client 2.5 from a Vista machine to access my virtual machine console.

Installation of Windows server is an ISO file located in the root directory of the ESX Server data store. Everything went well with the installation until one last server restart showed a screen stating "the password must be changed before logging on the first time' by clicking on 'OK' present a login for 'Administrator' screen, asking me to enter a password for the 'new' and 'Confirm password '.

Any attempt to enter a new password results (up to 14 characters, mixture letter & number) in a message "unable to update the password, the value provided for the new password does not meet the requirements of length, complexity or the history of the area.

As far as I know, I'm not usig a specific domain, have never been able to access Windows server 2008 to create an admin account. I don't know how to solve this problem. I am new to VMWare and Windows server 2008.

Any suggestion to move forward and allow me to have access to the server via the console?

Thanks in advance for your help, Claude

This isn't really a problem with VMware, but more of a problem of Windows 2008 password complexity requirements.

The account that she is not asking that you must change the password is the local administrator account.

And you have tried in upper case, lower case, numbers and special characters?  Something like Win2008!@#$ maybe?

  • PowerEdge 2850 - trying to install Windows Server 2008 R2 from USB

    Hello

Let me start with this: they gave me this server by a friend, and I thought it would be a very rewarding experience.

I want to install Windows Server 2008 R2 from a USB key. I already formatted the USB drive by using diskpart and implemented the fat32 file system. Then I went on the Windows site and downloaded Windows Server 2008 R2, which is a NTI .iso file and which resulted in the new format USB key

On the server, I already put 'Manage USB Controller - with bios' and changed the sequence of drive for the "emulated hard disk USB flash drive" at the top.

Now on the screen of boot sequence, after the press for installation of BMC, he says ' remove disks or other media. Press any key to restart"

What's not here? Shouldn't I see a Windows Server set up the screen? I'm not there is something very basic I'm missing, but any help is appreciated.

    Thank you!

Remove the USB when it restarts the first time :)

  • Impossible to install Windows Server 2008 64-bit edition

I'm under ESXi 3.5 on an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200. When I try and install Windows Server 2008 64-bit edition, I get the error that the processor is not compatible. Could someone please help. Thanks in advance.

I withdraw that.  Looks like the Q8200 don't have VT - x.  As such, it cannot run 64-bit guests.  See KB 1901.
