  All I want to do is plug my 2 computers on Win 7 default Workgroup through my modem router ADSL.  One, my laptop is running Win 7 Premium and connect wirelessly, the Bureau uses an Ethernet, Win 7 Professional. The wireless has only a single HARD C: drive and the desktop PC has 2 hard drives, a partitioned in C:, D: and the other E:. I connect to computers by using the same username/password. I want to be able to see/modify/copy any file from one PC to another, but it seems so difficult with Win 7.

  Homegroup would be perfect if it allow you to use more public folders. Oh, I forgot, I have a printer connected to my desktop PC I want to print over the network. Please can someone help, because he drives me crazy.

  1 2 profiles are used because you can assign two different levels of access to files, read-only and read/write.

  Recommended for networks Windows is to assign rights to a group rather than an individual user. This way you can give any number of users the same rights by placing them in a particular group. Not quite relevant in a homegroup but in a domain where users come and go, change roles etc. it makes it easy to manage. So, we have two groups and two users to place in these groups. You can see the mechanism in action by looking at security settings for one of the shared folders.

  In a workgroup environment basis with say 5 PCs with each having their own main user who is 5 user accounts. For all users to access files on other computers of their own this means that not only the user account must exist on their own PC, but it must be created on all other PCs. This includes management so if a user changes his password on his PC then it must go around each of the other PC and change the password on those, otherwise he will be denied access.

  HomeGroup avoids this by creating an additional user that exists on all PCs and has the same password in all of the group because it is defined in the configuration of the homegroup. Although the primary user on a PC is refused by another PC, it will accept the credentials of the user to the homegroup. Which of the two is accepted depends on the required access.

  Thus, although the mechanism seems a bit complicated (and there is more than that) there is a logic to it.

  Hi Woss,

  It is possible that your RIO Ethernet has some parameters of active access which is to prohibit the connection to serial ports.  You can change these settings in a position and Automation Explorer (MAX) for your device by going to the device under remote systems, expanding the category of software under it and choosing NI-VISA.  There will be a tab in the right pane of MAX called Options of VISA.  In this tab, select Server VISA > security to access these settings.

  From there, you should be able to add the IP address of the RIO device that needs to access the VISA on the RIO Ethernet server.  Once you have changed these settings, just click on register at the top of the window and allow the unit to restart.  Let me know if that helps!

  I'm developing a user for a Deployment Manager so that the production manager can add users they are formed. I changed the simple IO to add a button 'Manage users', which is implemented as a VI.

  I have this pretty much work except when I add a user using the DisplayNewUserDialog, I see no way to access the groups that can be selected in the dialog box. Select a group in the dialog box apparently does nothing. I save the user sent to the dialog box object and "sticking". But group selection doesn't fit or I see nothing to access the selection. With the help of the DisplayEditUserDialog on the same user object correctly records the group memberships selected without having to make an additional call.

  I see that in the example CreateDeleteUsers.seq, it is a step 'Add the user to the group' who up the group by the name chosen by the user. To paraphrase the steps:

  1. Add a new user: RunState.Engine.UsersFile.UserList.SetPropertyObjectByOffset (0, 0 x 1, Locals.User)
  2. Add the user to the Group (defines the privileges): RunState.Engine.GetUserGroup (Locals.GroupName). Members.SetValStringByOffset (0, 0 x 1, Locals.User.AsUser.LoginName)

  I don't see how I can retrieve this group name ("Locals.GroupName" above) the box of dialogue, or of the user object that is returned from the dialog box programmatically. Is this a bug?

  You will need to create a process of type definition 'disposition' and specify the resource "Unix Linux" and the table as "US_ULHOST". Once you create the process, you will need to create your workflow (i.e. to define tasks that need to be called in a certain order) and connect your adapter to these tasks. When you attach your card you must map the entrance / exit of the adapter to the task. Thus, by mapping the entry, you will have the option to select "process data" and there you will see your form fields. I would say through the developer's guide to a better understanding of the procurement process and etc.
