How to activate a track record in Premiere Pro CS4?

I'm on a macbook. I have a SM57 microphone connected via an XLR to USB cable. I tested this microphone by garage band, and it works and records very well.

In Premiere Pro preferences, I chose C-media USB Audio Device.

In the configuration of Audio MIDI mac, I chose C-media USB Audio Device as the default entry.

In Premiere Pro, I clicked on Audio 1 to point out that is the way I want to record.

Yet when I click the microphone image in the Audio Mixer Panel to activate the track for recording, it does nothing, no drop-down list, there is no indication that I clicked on it (other than himself highlighting in yellow for a brief moment).

Then I click on the record button, it starts flashing, waiting for me to click on play.

Then I click on play and a message appears ' Record you cannont without activating at least a track for recording.

Where I'm going wrong?

Any help is very appreciated.

I'm not aware of the first being able to record anything via the USB port.  Only FireWire for video and audio input mic.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 question on how to integrate into my website

    I have a simple question...

I used the Premiere Pro CS4 to create an Avi file in video.

And now I need to integrate it into Dreamweaver CS4 to download on my site.

I never have, so I have no idea on how to do it.

    Mathieu,

I can't answer for first, but if you have, you can use your file avi, and flash flv export file.

Still includes templates for use with your file menu flash and different sizes of flash export dimensions

Depending on the size you want your final file and to be.

Create a folder with everything for you, including the index.html file and all you have to do is transfer the file

your directory of Web sites and the hyperlink. Voila!

Sorry, I can't point to specific tutorials for the moment.

  • Slow playback in Premiere Pro CS4 (how to reduce res preview?)

Hi everyone, I was just wondering how to reduce the resolution of the reading/preview while3 editing in Premiere Pro CS4? I'm editing 720 p video (.mov format, that's what my camera takes pictures, so I don't think I can change that). All I see when I right click in the source monitor is "quality > high, rough, automatic. Is there anything else that I can choose? (kind of in aftermath, where you can set it to 1/2, 1/4, etc.). I searched the internet for the better part of the day and what I found is that 'quality' menu I mentioned earlier.

It is always very slow to look on the 'project', and it doesn't look like it's much more of a difference in quality. Now, my laptop isn't exactly the rendered beast that I wish it were, but it can handle 720 p [slowly] in after effects so I think it should work first too.

    Thank you!

PS: Anyone of you experts think it would be a good computer for NLE / rendering of effects?

CS5 offers specific options like 1/2 and 1/4.  Earlier versions offered only full, project and Auto.

A new computer is probably in order.  Your link isn't a bad option.  (Even if you need to add at least two drives more.)

  • Premiere Pro CS4 hungs on importing or opening files

    Hello!

I have a serious problem with Premiere Pro CS4. I have install on Windows 8, everything goes well. I create the first project and import mov files. First time I tried h284 Canon DSLR raw file. He played really bad. Secondly, I try AVID DNxHD mov, plays too slow, but everything is normal. But shortly after the first absolutely freezing. I restart, try to import the file or open the project with imported files (no matter what codec it is), it freezes again as before. And nothing helped. I tried to reinstall it about 5 times, it has no effect. What is c? Please, help me!

P.S. I don't know it worked on Windows 7 with MOV of the Canon camera, but I was working with other codecs.

Update. I found this problem described appears only with files DNxHD. regular H.284 causes different problem - during the first window loses focus (when I go to explorer, for example) first crashes, it's the window disappears and only strange red line stays on the screen. WTF?...

  • Adobe Dynamic Link won't work - Premiere Pro CS4 to After Effects CS4

    Hello

I edited a video with a date limit, I am importing a sequence of Premiere Pro CS4 to After Effects and changes in After Effects. I'm able to import the sequence of Premiere Pro in After Effects using Dynamic Link, but I'll go back to Premiere Pro and nothing has changed. I then export the minute 21 long video in After Effects and which takes about 12 hours, I can't afford. I don't know what I am doing wrong, until I imported to the AE timeline, while I was in Premiere Pro I right click it and select - original Edit. He took me to the .mov that I imported - since it is a roll forward. I learned how to use dynamic links to this tutorial-

    http://TV.Adobe.com/watch/learn-CS4-production-premium/using-dynamic-link/

Initially when the dynamic link didn't work I thought it was because I cut the sequence imported Premiere Pro into After Effects because I was followed by movement. When you import a sequence Premier Pro can cut you it into different layers in After Effects?

I import a sequence of Premiere Pro CS4 to After Effects

That does not create the type of link you want here.  In this case, changes to the PP would be present in AE.  You want the opposite.  (And you can only go one way, not both).

  • Premiere Pro CS4 video fills the whole frame.

My Windows Movie Maker has stopped working so I bought it and I regret it completely. WMM is so simple and straightforward. I don't want a software that takes a genius to use. Even I could design a better software.

In any case, for some reason when I import a video on my project it fills the screen. It is black boarder thick around her. I did research it and I saw a lot of things on the elongation or something like that. But I'm not a computer genius and adobe is expected of course as everyone else so I was wondering if someone could help me. Thank you.

Heres a pic so it can help.

    [IMG] http://I54.Tinypic.com/jpvjhx.jpg [line]

    Welcome to the forum.

When its assets are either zoom-in, or have black bands around them, in the timeline, it is usually because the predefined sequence/project does not have the 100% source footage.

In CS4, when you create a new project, they will set some preferences global and then invited to create a new sequence (chronology). It is here that we will need to know the full specs. their source files, and then select a predefined sequence to match these assets 100%. There are many Presets and then one 'special', the desktop Preset. What makes this 'special', is that you can set almost all the parameters for costume/game, such as the size of the image (this is where you are off), FPS, etc.

If you can tell us the complete specifications. of your source footage, anyone can tell you exactly what Preset to choose, or how to customize the desktop Preset to match. That will fill your frame perfectly.

PrPro from CS4 has the ability to have different sequences for different sequences, in the same project.

Now, WMM is well enough designed to deal with standard WMV images, is very limited on the one hand, but on the other hand, simple to use - many, many fewer choices to make. It's 'standard', or nothing.

When you have explored the power of PrPro and get used to the implementation of your footage, you will come to love him. The 'power' is intoxicating, and operations will become second nature.

I highly recommend a great book, Adobe Classroom in a Book for Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, Adobe Press. The author you will return you though first the concept of using a NLE (of Non-linear editing), then give you a tour of GUI (Graphical User Interface) program. Then, although the use of resources and projects, you will return the reader through all aspects of the process of with PrPro CS4 edition. When you are finished, there will be very little, that you will not have been exposed to. Curt spends a good part of the time by saying the drive all on the 'why' and not only the "how".

PrPro-Wiki has a great FAQ section on how to do most of the things in CS4 and should be bookmarked.

Believe me, the operation will change from 'rocket science' to 'second nature '.

    Good luck

  • Sync during compression HD FLV and F4V in Premiere Pro CS4

Hello.  I am trying to create messages of public interest for You Tube initially created with a small device that produces Quicktime HD files.  For YouTube they do not have to be perfect, but that's what I'm working with.  My computer has only 4 GB of ram so I can't watch the video to test synchronization because it gives just a slide show when editing.  He never does anything, but a slide show with HD video.

When I watch the original unedited Quicktime file synchronization was distant.  When I visited the original file in FLV and F4V formats, just to test the synchronization it is PERFECT.  Then I edited the first video from this session and FLV used and the timing was PERFECT.  So I do the second video synchronization, tested on the original film and its PERFECT.

So I thought it was okay to continue.  Everything was perfect after that first made the raw images. The first video worked, right? Synchronization of the raw images of the second video has been fixed, right?

Now that I spent all the time to edit the 2nd video, sync is TERRIBLE.  I have no idea why.  F4V was worse than FLV, but none are ideal for 2 video.  So I guess I have two questions:

    (1) what format should I use to upload to YouTube which does not give me a unusable timing problem

    (2) is there something I can do to see continuous synchronization in Premiere Pro CS4 without updating my equipment?  I use Vista 64 bit, 4 GB of ram, dual-core intel.  What I have to do a significant hardware upgrade just to get HD video do not make a slideshow during first execution?

    Thank you!

AVI file to the private mssg link... 1 gigabyte, takes about 30 min to DL - look and tell me if synchronization is better or worse you know... or the same thing... without you looking at this file and checking against your own there would be no way of KNOWING what (compared to what you met).

IF THE AVI IS BETTER... What are the steps

project settings and description of the measures shown below...

CineForm (neoscene) can handle that sort of thing of conversion, but I do not have this program... most of this will be explicit from the images...

Here's the info from mediainfo avi export

below is the description of steps

    -------------

    easyShare measures taken

his program (I used soundforge) allows re - sample 16 kHz sound for wav file (wav pcm) to 48 kHz and 32 bit floating point.

record in stereo or mono (stereo may turn into 2 mono channels when they are imported in preview)

Import original mov file to the new project, untie her, remove its import wav and put on wav chronology... link to the video.  I increased the volume on an audio file with conversion just for my own satisfaction... you can do what you want the audio file also (re: filters etc)

The file size will be HUGE... as you're now away from the advanced mpeg 4 HIGHLY compressed format of your original footage...

However, it is OK to HAVE BYTES COUNT FILE AT THIS POINT HUGE...

You can then IMPORT the AVI file that you exported in first for your mounting--(je commencerais nouveau projet pour cela) with very little "loss" of original quality - most of the humans would be able to tell any difference between the quality of the original and this AVI file... (I can't).

After you change the avi file or files to export as flash or anything else you want...

  • Slow rendering in Premiere Pro CS4 (with a fast computer?)

Hello people on the Adobe Forums,.

I hope someone can help me with this issue, it has been bothering me a very long time now and this week I have to make a decision, or solve the problem and keep this configuration, or spend the money for a new processor (i5 750) and a new motherboard. But I think that this computer must do better, then he doesn't. I have the following configuration:

    AMD Athlon X 2 4600 +

    NVIDIA GeForce 7800GTX

    2 x 1 GB memory OCZ (250 mhz, DDR, PC2400)

    Storage disks:

Seagate 320 GB SATA (7200 RPM, I think)

WD 74 GB SATA (10,000 RPM, OPERATING SYSTEM)

Hitachi 500 GB SATA (7200 too, I think)

WD 1 TB (SATA) USB (hdd extern)

WD 250 GB SATA (7200 RPM, I think)

So I don't understand the problem, first is very slow on my computer... Rendering of a piece of 5 min of just a film randomly takes like 3 hours! Just now, I found some things that I shot with my cell phone, it like 10 sec 1 frame! On most pc with this vice versa!

So the cpu is not only the former and nor is the video card, meaby memory is a bit weak... Could it be the problem?

Hope that people can you help me, I searched Google and all but impossible to find someone with this problem...

    Software list:

    -Windows 7 complete edition

    -Adobe Premiere Pro CS4

Drivers are, as far as I know, to date, I've updated Adobe programs also...

Describe the source material, Codec: XDCAM-EX (mp4) movie

But as I said, it happens too avi too, he thinks it was DivX...

I bought this used pc, so it could be that something in the processor is already broken and I don't notice all the... I searched like everywhere and also tried to reinstall the program, but that does not work either...

    Marinus

    Marinus,

My compliments on the way in which you have documented your problem! Very, very good. I wish that more people would take your example.

Unfortunately, as you can see from the results PPBM4, your PC is a serious lack power. About 80 times slower than the top ensuring an and more specifically on the MPEG encoding. This means that, with your XDCAM, your machine hardware fights like h * l to get anything it to be delivered. Even with SD AVI material, it would be a struggle with these specifications.

The only solution I see is to get a new machine. To get a rough hint of what you face. Watch Adobe Forums: how to build PC? and realize that the version of the budget is the minimum for DV and HDV, possibly material from XDCAM-EX, but for AVCHD and DSLR equipment you would not drop below the economic model. In addition, if you go to the hyarware forum and press the "View" tab at the top of the page, there a dropdown menu with several items that might interest you. http://forums.Adobe.com/community/premiere/hardware_forum?view=discussions&start=0

BTW, on your new system you want to clean. With all the running processes, it adds to the burden and you could do with much less overhead.

  • Degradation of JPEGs imported into Premiere Pro CS4 in steps

For this I downloaded 2 JPEG files, I don't know if the scale applied by the forum software is just for display in the message, I hope that JPEG files can be downloaded as they have been downloaded.

In any case, I make a documentary, he made abundant use of computer images captured in JPEG format using the Microsoft Vista cutting tool.

The first JPEG is a real snip, while JPEG was introduced in Premiere Pro CS4 and I did another captures the workspace.

It's progressively worse within the PrPro.

PrPro window in the top center shows how PrPro JPEG format after importation.

    This shows a degradation.

PrPro window top right shows how PrPro JPEG format after the addition of the sequence on the top layer of video and it has more degradation, in particular it vertically down by comparison with the first of these 2 screens.

When I do a test of the 1 4 seconds of this sequence generation, the JPEG is unreadable.

It is perhaps in part because of the square pixels computer video versus PAL rectangular pixels, but I don't think it's history because of the increase in degradation. The ability to present with 1.333 pixels using rather than the square does not solve the problem.

I used Windows Movie Maker and Windows Live Movie Maker to create JPEGs which this JPEG video files and basically what they translate with only a tiny decline, output files .wmv 1080 HD, Movie Maker gives only intertwined but Live Movie Maker gives progressive, so I think.

If you import these .wmv files and place on the top layer of the sequence that they also get murdered in PrPro.

Tool Vista capture is to save JPEG files as RGB 24 bits and Gimp color evoke the color in sRGB profile.

Is it possible to get RGB JPEG processed correctly in PrPro?

    Thank you.

    Doc 1a Anglia Ruskin Wiki.JPG

    JPEG Import or processing bug.JPG

    ---------------

I have download the sequence of parameters you will see here are for interlaced HDTV 50, but also my video resource only for this sequence, I found is progressive better so I'll start by creating a new sequence to match the video resource base. The interlaced stuff was just because my vid cam creates interlaced AVCHD but all these vid files have been used in previous projects and the output has been set to 1080 progressive

    -----------------------

    your project now

    1440 x 1080 50 Hz 25 fps, 16:9 (anamorphic-1, 333) - problem of language from me... That's right 25 frames per second?

    your sample video

    XDCAM-ex, 24.4 fps, 1920 x 1080, 50 Hz.  -Once again, language prob... It's 24.4 fps?

Download bad example? looks intertwined for me (50 Hz), but I'm a little confused because I do not work with pal and do not (your) language. How you can know more than one language is beyond my comprehension!

Anway, was this snack one mistake and you are really going to use progressive? You can download jpg of this progressive file info if it was a mistake?

progressive should say something like "fields = no, no field, progressive, or square pixel.

lets get this project directly first defining... cause, you might be better to create your project settings "custom / desktop" instead of a "Preset"...

especially with your video in 1920 x 1080 instead of 1440 x 1080... you want to make your project, 1920 x 1080, 1440 x 1080 anamorphic and not.  But first lets be sure if your video is interlaced or progressive you want in the project... then you will make the project to match images and then after that in the face of AN image and you should be set to go

  • Display the metadata Panel in Premiere Pro CS4 on a PC

    Hello.

I recently made the jump in Premiere Pro cs4

Ive watched some videos of training Total of Essential Training to beyond the basics

However they are all taught on Mac and I have a PC and have so often pause tutorials to decifer the PC version of some im being shown / sign.

IM understand everything so far, seem however there is 1 simple function, I can't understand.

On a PC, how do you get the metadata Panel to display in the monitor?

IM repeatedly told (on a Mac that is...):

    Click on window

Scroll down and select "metadata" to display the metadata Panel in the monitor.

On the PC, (windows 7 64 bit which is..) Metadata is not in the drop-down window, however.

Actually, theres lots of options in the drop-down windows on the mac in tutorials, which are not in the drop-down list of window on my PC version.

Ive climbed throughout the program by going to each Panel menu (such as the monitor menu) as:

    Edit > Preferences

    and the project settings menu

to be honest... I can not even find the WORD metadata, anywhere in a menu of Final Cut Pro.

    It's called something else?

The PC version is not it?

I know that I should do something simple/stupid and fake. Can someone help me please? Thank you

The metadata of a component are displayed in the location of the project

There is also a menu of "whirlwind down" (small triangle) in the project bin which allows you t o implement the display of the metadata.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 feature Questions

    Hey everybody,

I was thrown in a project that is using Premiere Pro CS4 (we use Roxio VideoWave) and I hope someone can answer a few basic questions (I'm not an expert in the field of the video editing software):

    (1) in the wave of the video, I can easily add photos and movies to a project simply by drag-and - drop from Windows Explorer. First, it seems, the only way I can add photos and videos to a project is to import media, and then drag them from the 'library of project' to the timeline. Is it possible to drag-and - drop a photo directly from Windows Explorer in a timeline? If so, please tell me what stage of base, Miss. :-)

    (2) is it possible to get a glimpse of what will look like a transition before adding to made the transition to film?

    (3) when I add a photo/video library project, I have to hold the CTRL key to have a 'ripple' Insert (for example, push everything into the exit delay). Also, I have to hold the CTRL key to make a 'ripple trim. Is it possible to define these actions by default, so I don't have to hold down the CTRL key for these?

    (4) Lastly (for the moment :-)), in Roxio Videowave I could easily change the volume of an audio clip in the timeline just by clicking on the average line goes through the sound wave and dragging upwards or downwards.) I can't know if there is a similar average easy to do in Premiere Pro.

Any help is appreciated! Again, sorry if these are basic stupid questions, but the first is currently well above my level of experience.

    Thank you! :-)

    (1) is there a way to drag and drop a photo directly from Windows Explorer in a timeline?

First, no, it does not - at least since the Explorer himself. You must first import the files (you can drag and drop them in the Panel project/bin) and then edit them in sequence. However, you can try on the media browser; go to window > Media Browser so you don't see it. Media browser will give you an interface of type Explorer that you can use to drag files directly from the folder structure on your hard drive in a sequence; When you do so, they will simultaneously be imported into the project.

    (2) is it possible to get a glimpse of what will look like a transition before adding to made the transition to film?

Nope; Just try them until you find one you like. Then memorize

Nope; those who are wired. It will become automatic for you after a while.

    (4) Lastly (for the moment :-)), in Roxio Videowave I could easily change the volume of an audio clip in the timeline just by clicking on the average line goes through the sound wave and dragging upwards or downwards.) I can't know if there is a similar average easy to do in Premiere Pro.

You probably don't have the volume adjustments or keyframe activated for your track. Check out the following screenshot:

You can select "Show clip keyframes" (which lets you keyframe other effects via the menu drop-down on the clip) or "Show Clip Volume" that shows just the volume effect. A yellow line appears through the waveform; You can drag up and down to adjust the total volume of a clip, or use the control key and click the rubberband to add nodes or key images so that you can increase the audio. You can also control click a keyframe to germinate the handles so that you ease in or ease the level. Note that you can also select the 'Track' options, but (as his name suggests) to set the level of the entire track and not individual clips.

  • Motion JPEG AVI codec not supported by Adobe Premiere Pro CS4?

    Hi all

First of all, I must say that English is not my mother tongue. Forgive me if I make spelling mistakes or if I write inpolitely, it is not the intention.

I have a couple of videos made with a camera. The videos have an .avi extension and a Motion JPEG codec. I can watch them on my computer fine with the two Windows Media Player, Winamp, or Quicktime. However, when I try to use them in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, the videos are stuck after a few images (half a second), even if the sound is going very well. I am quite sure that this is a problem in Adobe Premiere Pro, because they DON'T work well in Adobe After Effects CS4. I tried to convert the video to another codec, but no matter what that the settings I use, there are still many quality loss.

Nobody knows how to solve this problem in the first? I read the following document: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/166/tn_16612.html but I don't quite understand, I'm not used to working with the property inspector or Lingo. If someone could explain this document to me it would be too good.

    Thank you in advance,

    Bib-lost25

The link you provide is related to the Flash program and is not relevant to your problem.

I don't know why the Mjpeg files work in some programs (including After Effects) and not first.  But the reality is that you need to add an Mjpeg codec. I love Morgan (although I don't have CS4 and it was inherited from my days of Pinnacle real files).

There are other threads on this topic; try searching for "mjpeg".

  • Premiere Pro CS4 is quickly eating my hard drive!

    Hey all,.

So, I was working on a video with my trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. I initially had 28 GB on my internal hard drive on the left. After you import a bunch of videos and their abutment, I noticed that kept first in line with some videos again and again. I didn't think much, because my source files (where I save the .prproj and video files) are on a drive terabyte external hard. When I finished my project, I go to my computer and see that my internal hard drive has suddenly been reduced to 3.1 GB! I don't know where the other 25 GB disappeared.
