My screen is too bright.  How can I set the screen to lower it for windows XP

Brightness, contrast, etc., are controlled by the knobs located on your monitor. RTFM for the monitor for more information.

(Tip: just by tilting back can help).

I work on a laptop running XP and I can't find how to adjust the brightness of the screen. He is not bright enough for the environment, in that I am currently working.
    Any help?

Look in the BIOS (nothing to do with the operating system) and change first there - so it's also brilliant to (on battery vs. connected to power - these settings, you determine thus.)

In Windows - you should be able to control the brightness * if * you have everything installed the appropriate drivers for your laptop * and * they chose to give you these controls (the true drivers/software from the video card manufacturer is usually done).

Also - if the brightness is not sufficient because of the light of the Sun - then by adjusting it can't helped.  Not many mobile consumers have a screen that can be read in the light of the Sun.  There are laptops with special screens for this type of environment.  Crank your brightness might help - but if you do not have an anti-glare screen, etc...

I understand that you want to adjust the brightness of a clip in iMovie for iOS. You cannot adjust the brightness directly, but you can add a filter to a clip or project that could potentially illuminate it for you.

Add video filters - using iMovie for iPhone

The brightness of the screen is normally something on your
Monitor itself, not Windows. See the documentation of your
    instructor about how to proceed.

  • How to adjust the brightness of the screen of a laptop computer from HP (HP 6730 s)?

    Original title - Windows 8

My daughter recently bought a new laptop (HP 6730 s) and bought and has Windows 8 installed on it.  She doesn't know how to adjust the brightness of the screen.

  • Automatically adjusts the brightness with the background of the window.

This is a fairly long description of the question, but I tried to be as complete as possible (this looks like a minor problem but it's very embarrassing in the conditions I work often) I have a laptop Dell Inspiron under Windows 7 Home Premium, and I'm having a problem with the brightness of the screen. I was not able to locate any other positions, even with a similar problem:

Windows automatically adjusts the brightness of the screen based on the background color of any windows is open. When the toggle between light/dark background brightness will increase or decrease respectively. This is unrelated to all conditions of lightning of the room, and I was able to nail that this occurs only when two conditions are met (but she she 100% reproducible in these conditions) 1. Laptop is running on battery and 2. the screen brightness slider is calibrated for lower brightness about settings up to about 30 to 40%.
I tried to eliminate all possible variables that I can think of, including the diagnosis via msconfig startup. This automatic brightness adjustment occurs independently of the program or the window involved, but here's an example where I cut everything and simply alternate between the Windows desktop (including the black background value) and Windows Explorer (white background).
EXAMPLE 1: Desktop (black) came, no agenda. I open Windows Explorer (white) and the brightness fades gradually more light for a period of 5 seconds, tick-tick-tick-tick-tick brighter. I reduce Windows Explorer (dark back) and the brightness fades gradually more dark, tick-tick-tick-tick darker. When working in a darkened room this very annoying constant increase or decrease the brightness. Note that the brightness slider is set to the minimum setting all this time (about 40% of the automatic erasure is more noticeable at the point of annoying, even if it is always present, but 40% is way too bright for a darkened room).
EXAMPLE 2: I opened two tabs in Google Chrome or Internet Explorer (that happens for two and all the other programs besides), in a tab of the page Web has a dark background (grey/brick/whatever) while the other tab has a light background (white/yellow/whatever). As I switch between tabs brightness will decrease after the passage in the darker background and rise after the transition to the lighter background, tick-tick-tick-tick-tick discoloration with about 5 seconds each time.
Since this only occurs on battery you need just a simple setting in Power Options, but I don't the do have not yet localized as and option. I would be grateful all the ideas, and I can provide more information if necessary. Two solutions would be acceptable
    (A) brightness remains constant at the level that I put it independently to know if the laptop is plugged in or on battery power.
    (B) brightness adjusts in a single 'jump' when switch between light/dark circles, rather than erasing more than 5 seconds.
    Thanks for your help

In fact, after a lot of research and work of suggestions other people, I think I found a solution that works on my machine. (I'm saying I think because I shot to the top of a black web page, he gave way to the screen for a while and looked and seems not to reduce intensity, but I'm a little worried that it's just top-down influence and I just wanted to believe that I solved the problem...)

    Here's what I did (on my Toshiba);
Control Panel > display > adjust the resolution
Click on 'Advanced settings' (a small blue link in the drop-down "Orientation").
Click on tab "Intel (R) Graphics and Media Control Panel"
    Graphics properties
    Power > power features
Click the menu drop-down and select 'on battery '. Under this drop-down menu, there is a checkbox next to "Display Power Saving Technology" that only appears when "on battery" is selected. On my computer, the box has been checked. I've disabled, and who seems to have stopped the display to change the brightness according to the color of the window.
I hope this works for some other people (and indeed works for me) - this seems to be a very rare but incredibly annoying problem for those of us who got it.

    Hello

    It's very simple.

  • NB100 - how to adjust the brightness of the screen?

    Hi all.

You just bought a NB100 - overall very very happy with it. Well built, good screen and very compact, etc.

You have some questions? The brightness of the screen is controlled by the Fn + F9/F10. I love that she's set on ' to Midway ' or less - in part to preserve the battery - but also because I find max brightness is actually TOO bright for me! But the reboot of the machine always seems to start up. Is there a way around this? There may be a firmware update (my machine seems to run version 1.90 which I believe is the most recent)?

I noticed other referring Fn + F8 discussions as a way to select Bluetooth/WiFi etc.? Mine seems to just control the setting of the fan and processor - fan speed "gray" setting gives clocked at 1.6 ghz and fan lights - while Fn + F8 activates / deactivates an icon fan 'white' - where the processor strangling up to 800/900 ish and the slows / stops (?) fan. [by the way I noticed some videos become "jerky" If you choose the lower setting]

I'm not 100% sure what Fn key + "pipe" (to the left of the formula 1)? The Fn + F1 turns on without wireless/wifi I know - but the key of "pipe" seems to be a symbol of Wlan (or is it the key to use for Bluetooth or GPS or other)? Sorry to sound so ignorant - but the user guide does not in this detail. I'm pretty sure that the machine, I have bought - that was one handed to new/refurbished Toshiba NB100 - model PLL10E - did not all BT/GPS etc - just the basic wifi which F1 comes on and goes off.

Last comment - and others have said - the main peaks are very difficult to see in the dark! The 'gray' color was definitely a design error! But I can live with that - either a usb light? or a few letters of stickon (white)?

    Greetings to all.

Hi, I think the best way to adjust the brightness is in the options of the properties of the energy available in the system tray icon. I don't know about the activation of bt and wlan, it seems that bt and WiFi devices are on the same circuit power, so not adjustable. Nb100 is a good inexspansive machine :)

  • 15 - r254nu:. Cannot adjust the brightness on Windows 8.1

So I tried different ways to resolve this issue, but again the light cannot be turned on/off. Help, please!

    Hello:

There are two Intel driver links to the choices on your laptop support page.

I explored the folder of the driver of this driver file to support your laptop and driver page, and it is suitable to use driver.

This package provides the driver that allows graphics Intel high definition (HD) in the notebook models that are running an operating system supported. If the video output high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver.

    File name: sp69589.exe

The hardware ID for the Intel graphics card in your laptop must be one of these...

    ;=====================================================================
    ;    Windows 8.1 install
    ;=====================================================================
    [IntelGfx.NTamd64.6.3]

    % iVLVGMT0% = iVLV2M_w81, PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_0F31 & SUBSYS_220F103C
    % iVLVGMT0% = iVLV2M_w81, PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_0F31 & SUBSYS_2213103C
    % iVLVGMT0% = iVLV2M_w81, PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_0F31 & SUBSYS_2210103C
    % iVLVGMT0% = iVLV2M_w81, PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_0F31 & SUBSYS_2214103C

You should see a device from Intel HD graphics instead of the graphics card base of Microsoft, and unless you can get the graphics driver to install you will not be able to adjust the brightness of the screen.

Is the above driver do not install the Intel graphics card automatically, try to install the driver manually by navigating to the folder of the driver that is created after running the above file.

Confirm that the hardware for the Intel graphics card ID matches one of the above since the driver installation information file that I posted.

To find the ID of the hardware, Device Manager, click the graphics card Microsoft Basic.

Then click on the Details tab in the upper part of the window Microsoft Basic graphics card.

Now you should see a drop-down list of property and it is set by default to the Description of the unit.

On this list and select the 3rd point (Hardware ID).

Confirm that the hardware ID, you see there is one of those listed that I posted.
