  To completely remove the Windows Easy Transfer files and restore the 'normal' hard drive icons, try the following steps:
   
  a. open the computer, select Tools > Folder Options to open the Folder Options window
  b. in the view tab, select Show hidden files and folders
  c. right click on each of the icons (in my case - disc vista & W7 drive) hard drive and select Explorer
  d. find Windows easy transfer.exe and windowseasytrasfer autorun.inf folder and delete them from the root of the two readers
  e. restart your computer and check if the problem is resolved.

  I used Windows Easy Transfer with the two computers under Windows Vista. I couldn't transfer files directly over the network because something with computer sizes are not compatible. Fact on the old computer (a laptop), I'm sure I downloaded the files on the network, but now I can't find where I saved from my new computer (a PC). I opened Windows Easy Transfer to know where I saved the documents, and he says "C;\from_old_computer\SaveData.MIG" which is actaull under a car calles OS (C).   I think that we do not follow the correct procedure to migrate the files and settings of the network drive where the backup is stored. Follow the steps mentioned below.

  Use a network drive for migrating files and settings

  1. look for the removable media or the network drive that contains the Windows Easy Transfer Wizard files, and then double-click Migwiz.exe to start Windows Easy Transfer.

  2. If you use other programs, you will need to close these programs. You can save your work in each program, and then close the programs individually. You can also click Close all in Windows Easy Transfer to close these programs immediately.

  3. click on next.

  4. click through a network.

  5. click on connect directly via network to begin the migration.

  Note: Click on save to network location if you want to store the files and settings in a file that will be loaded later. If you want to store the files and settings on a network drive, you will be asked to provide the path where you want to store the files and settings.

  6. click on everything - all accounts users, files, and program settings (recommended) to migrate all files and settings. If you want to determine exactly the files and settings you want to migrate, click only my user account, files, and program settings, or click Customize.

  7 examine the list that contains the files and settings you want to migrate, and then click Start. To add or remove files or settings from the list, click Customize.

  8. click close once Windows Easy Transfer has completed migrating files and settings to the destination computer.

• Windows Easy Transfer - not enough disk space

  I thought I was effective with my space of C: drive when I created a partition of 19G for Win 7 64 bit install.  Installation went well.  But now, I get an error when I try to use Windows Easy Transfer to replace the files and settings in the C: drive.  I'm getting "there is not enough available disk space to transfer your files and settings.

  I tried to extend the partition of 19G using the diskpart command line, but obviously I don't understand this thing of partition or volume.  I have 908G free on the C: drive.  Why don't Windows Easy Transfer make me do?

  You can walk me through how to get Windows Easy Transfer to use the available space?  I tried creating and formatting a volume with free space and which does not work either.  (Not shown in the screenshot.)

  I solved my problem and will document the answer if someone reads this thread.

  Not being warned of partition, I was really afraid of 'delete partition' given the warning message.  Once I thought logically through what would happen that I chose to delete the partition.

  Deletion of de facto partition the partition itself is no longer accessible, but it did not space reconciliations.  Once the partition has been deleted, it was labeled "unallocated" in the management of the computer-> disk management GUI.  At that time I could right click on the c: partition and choose to extend it.

I recognize even more of that, and a lot of it sounds like malware, or stuff of advertising and badly behaved toolbars that I don't want on my computer!

  I searched "Uninstall programs" and none of them are still on the list! Where are they and how do I get rid of them?

  I also do not want user account from my friend on my computer, and I can't find that either. According to the report of transfer, "users successfully transferred: [name] transferred to user." But when I use change user, there is no account he marked [name].

  It seems you've got some corrupt short icons of the user account of your friends through Windows easy transfer.

  I suggest you perform a restore of the system to cancel the easy transfer.

  You can open the administrator and verify if you can open Windows Easy Transfer correctly.

  You can even check if you face the same question in the user account different or new user account.  You can create a new user account on your computer, and then check.

  A message appears indicating that "the system scan will start. Be patient because the scan can take some time.
  c. If all files require a SFC replace will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Win7 DVD for this process to continue.
  d. If everything is correct you should, after the scan, see the following message "resource protection Windows not found any breach of integrity".
  e. once the scan is finished, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

  The old laptop of my son is a Windows 7 laptop. He recently bought a new laptop for Windows 8.1, and naturally he would like all its data, etc. migrate to the new machine. So naturally he's trying to use Windows Easy Transfer, but it does nothing for him. Whenever he tries to run it, it gets this error:

  There is no other errors than that. He tried to launch Windows Easy Transfer normally and as an administrator; always had this error.

  He tried to connect in safe mode, but he refused to run Windows Easy Transfer at all.

  We have grown to a prompt as an administrator and run SFC/scannow, but it is no problem at all. All is well for what is Windows 7, Windows Easy Transfer should work. But he is not and refuses to start.

  We even chose to return to a previous restore point, but who does not work either.

  Since all this can't work, how in hell are OK, we supposed to get Windows Easy Transfer to work on this old machine Windows 7 when it will not be under all the circumstances I've specified here, work?

  Please, try the following steps:

  1. Go to "C:/Users / / AppData/Local'." "
  2. Delete folder named Migwiz.
  3. Try to run the transfer Windows Easy now.
