Windows Easy Transfer fatal error

In the past, I used Windows Easy Transfer to save and re - install the data when I had to reformat my Toshiba L650 / laptop Windows 7 Pro.  Now, whenever I try to access Windows Easy Transfer tells me that there is a fatal error.  How can I fix this, please?

I've seen since post September 25, 2010 from gogreennatlanda to http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/windows-easy-transfer-encountered-a-fatal-error/26734892-8cb1-4e0d-be80-a79a68e256ca?page=2&tm=1315363879085#footer.  Remove the Migwiz in AppData/Local folder identified by gogreennalanta solved my propblem.  Thank you gpgreennatlanda.  4 years and the system continues to create this problem.  I would hope that would not be so.

  • I get the error message "there was an error of analysis of the data on your system" when you try to use Windows Easy Transfer

Original title: there was an error of analysis of the data on your system

I get this error when trying to use Windows Easy Transfer to prepare to move from an XP PC to a Windows 7 PC. It passes through the part of the selection on where I later import files then says he is scanning the disc and fails with the above error.

In the search for this error, I found information of 2007 could be be a nero problem AVI.  I don't have Nero installed and I can't find the log files in the directory MIGWIZ.

It is a small (50 GB) HD who do not have much space available on it (I'm not in front of it now).  Is there a minimum amount of free space needed to run this executable? That is why it is a failure?

Could there be other issues behind this failure?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello

In Windows vista and Windows 7, you don't have to download Windows easy transfer.
    Windows easy transfer is incorporated.

  • I get an error 0xc0000142 during execution of Windows Easy Transfer.

Original title: Windows easy transfer does not work

I anm try to transfer a profile of an old XP machine to my Win 7 PC.

When I try to run Windows Easy Tranmsfer on the Win7 PC I get an error Application failed to start correctly (0xc0000142)

How can I get it to work?

You must use the Windows 7 PC easy transfer utility to create the file to transfer on the XP PC. The file generated by the XP version of the utility is not compatible with Windows 7

On the Windows 7 PC to run the Windows easy transfer utility

On the home screen select next and then choose the method of transfer (external drive)?

Then select so this is my new computer, on the next screen, it asks if you have already saved your files, click on no, then I need to install it now.

You can create the installation program on the device you want to use for the transfer as the external HARD disk or USB key. It will then copy the utility to transfer files on the selected device.

Connect it to PC XP and run the transfer utility on the XP PC, which was created by Windows 7. It will recreate your file transfer but this time they should work on Windows 7 PCs.

  • I try to install the windows easy transfer and I get the error.

I try to install the windows easy transfer and I get the error, "the version of windows you have installed does not match the update you are trying to install.  I download and install the 32 and 64-bit version for XP.  I also downloaded and tried both 32 and 64-bit version for windows 7.

On which version of Windows 7 you are trying to install Easy Transfer?  Easy transfer seems to be automatically installed on Windows 7. You run Easy Transfer on Windows 7 to 'prepare' the copy, you need to be running on the 'old' PC.

  • Windows Easy Transfer ends with the restart Message

I'm trying to use Windows easy transfer to transfer files from my old laptop Windows XP 32 - bit for my new laptop Wn7 64-bit. I downloaded the XP application usng the laptop Win7 and transferred on the XP laptop and installed there. I used my network wireless existing as a transfer medium. I copied the transfer key from the old to the new laptop, and the transfer seemed to progress saying there were 390 files, which seems a little low. When 390 have been transferred, both computers will report the following error:

Windows Easy Transfer is unable to continue. If please restart the computer and try again.

I restarted once the two laptops and WET the results in the same error.

Should I just try a different transfer method?

    Yes.

Windows Easy Transfer and files and Settings Transfer seized were never so great because they are really made to move (IMHO) from one system to the other * at time of the original operating system release * because they start pretty quickly leaving aside the settings and applications.  Since you are going from Windows XP to Windows 7, use this:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/XP/transfer-your-data.aspx

If you want to transfer both applications - you can spend a little money on the product (23.95 USDs as you move from XP) and get the professional version:

  • Windows Easy Transfer can only transfer files

I created an easy transfer file in my previous installation of Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. After formatting and installing Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit even once, I got the following error:

"Windows Easy Transfer can only transfer files

Your easy transfer file was created on a computer that is running a different language than this computer. Windows Easy Transfer only transfers files between computers with different languages. Settings will not be transferred. »

The problem is that the two facilities were in English...

-What can I do to solve this problem or my parameters are irretrievably lost?

You can see your language here: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CMF\SqmData\BootLanguages. Are the same in the two versions of Windows?

  • Windows Easy Transfer refuses to start. How can make us it work?

The old laptop of my son is a Windows 7 laptop. He recently bought a new laptop for Windows 8.1, and naturally he would like all its data, etc. migrate to the new machine. So naturally he's trying to use Windows Easy Transfer, but it does nothing for him. Whenever he tries to run it, it gets this error:

Window easy transfer has encountered an unrecoverable error. Pleas restart the application.

There is no other errors than that. He tried to launch Windows Easy Transfer normally and as an administrator; always had this error.

He tried to connect in safe mode, but he refused to run Windows Easy Transfer at all.

We have grown to a prompt as an administrator and run SFC/scannow, but it is no problem at all. All is well for what is Windows 7, Windows Easy Transfer should work. But he is not and refuses to start.

We even chose to return to a previous restore point, but who does not work either.

Since all this can't work, how in hell are OK, we supposed to get Windows Easy Transfer to work on this old machine Windows 7 when it will not be under all the circumstances I've specified here, work?

    (Moved to programs)

    Hi Rod,

I apologize for the delay in response.

It is likely that the Application cache is corrupted and causing this problem.

    Please, try the following steps:

    1. Go to "C:/Users / / AppData/Local'." "
    2. Delete folder named Migwiz.
    3. Try to run the transfer Windows Easy now.

Hope this information is useful. Response please that if you need assistance or have any other question about Windows, we're here to help.

  • Windows easy transfer. I can't use transfer to move files to the new computer

I used windows easy transfer to back up my files to an external hard drive before doing a clean install of windows 7, XP.

I am unable to find any "windows easy transfer" files on the hard drive for transfer to the new computer.

ALL the files from my old computer are there and I am able to access it from the external hard drive.

Please tell me there is an easy way to transfer files and I don't have to do it manually.

What is the error message when you try to restore files in Windows 7?

Also, did you really use the Windows Easy Transfer Wizard to back up your files or did you use the built in the files and Settings Transfer wizard in Windows XP? If you used the files and Settings Transfer Wizard, that won't work no.

You must install Windows Easy Transfer on Windows XP, save the files as one. MIG file on your external drive, restore it on the Windows 7 computer. See for instructions:

  • Windows Easy Transfer - not enough disk space

I thought I was effective with my space of C: drive when I created a partition of 19G for Win 7 64 bit install.  Installation went well.  But now, I get an error when I try to use Windows Easy Transfer to replace the files and settings in the C: drive.  I'm getting "there is not enough available disk space to transfer your files and settings.

I tried to extend the partition of 19G using the diskpart command line, but obviously I don't understand this thing of partition or volume.  I have 908G free on the C: drive.  Why don't Windows Easy Transfer make me do?

You can walk me through how to get Windows Easy Transfer to use the available space?  I tried creating and formatting a volume with free space and which does not work either.  (Not shown in the screenshot.)

    Screenshots:

I solved my problem and will document the answer if someone reads this thread.

Not being warned of partition, I was really afraid of 'delete partition' given the warning message.  Once I thought logically through what would happen that I chose to delete the partition.

Deletion of de facto partition the partition itself is no longer accessible, but it did not space reconciliations.  Once the partition has been deleted, it was labeled "unallocated" in the management of the computer-> disk management GUI.  At that time I could right click on the c: partition and choose to extend it.
