  You cannot compare files of different nature. If you convert the Word file to PDF, you can then compare the two files in Acrobat.

  Not sure what you mean by "reliable"? SQL is not some kind of generator of random result (by derogation from the use of the DBMS_RANDOM package). If you ask him if 1 + 1 = 2, then it will always give you the right answer.

  We have a very large (> 50) team of developers who work on PL/SQL.
  As and as new improvements/fixes are tested successfully, DBA migrates the new source code for DEV to QA, then the PROD instance.
  
  Very often, the developers are invited to check if the source code migrated to the instance target is the right. This Yes, because we use an automated migration tools... .and sometimes DBA can make mistake in migrating the wrong version (say a beta code).
  
  So that developers are left with comparing the source manually or by using the file compare tools... a very tedious job.
  (I know not a strict discipline to keep a barrette and version will help you; but we have a lot of existing code that does not adhere to this rule)
  
  So, is it possible to do ' intelligently '... I thought of a way to get the code of HASH/HASHKEY of all lines of source code of a procedure or a pkg and then again to get the HASHCODE/HASHKEY of all codes/HASHKEYs of lines of source for a particular package. to get a unique HASHKEY for a pkg... .and then I can compare this HASHKEY of 2 bodies... and they are same, means the code is the same... Otherwise, the code is different

  Using a HASH to check if the two sources are the same would be a valid way to do a quick check, although it will obviously not be to tell you where the differences are.

  In Oracle 10 g, you can use the DBMS_CRYPTO package to generate HASH values...

• How to release the source code (only) for first level VI?

  I develop an add-on for an application that I have. The demand is large (more than 1,500 VI) and the screws are set up to compile with for most of the default settings (there is a first level VI, some with visible front, most of them are not visible).

  The customer wants that source code for the work that I do, and he will use the many existing Subvi. The addon itself will be a Subvi (I have a Main.vi that basically opens 'front' and it is a new screen). The sub - VI existing basically make data collection and treatment, and the new code will perform additional processing and have a nice GUI for existing code. The customer wants the source so that they can make changes as needed.

  Is there an easy way to simply provide the source for the first level VI? Basically, I want to give them M.vi, where M.vi name n.vi, o.vi... etc, but o - z.vi should be non-free. In addition, M.vi is called by Main.vi, which opens A screens - M.vi

  One option is to copy the entire application, then open each sub - VI and save it without Source Code. But with so many files, this seems like a bad idea. So, I also maintain two applications.

  Good ideas out there? It seems if easy in other languages (using object files) it looks like there should be a solution here I don't see... Thank you!

  Hey dude-

  Here's the right way to do without external downloads.  It looks like a lot at first, but once you have done so, it is very easy.  It works in all versions of Windows 7 to 95.  For our example, let's assume you're to compare two directories named 'A' and 'B '.

  1. run cmd.exe to get a command prompt.  (In Windows 7, the powershell will not work for this, FYI.)  Then do it again, so that you have two of them opened next to each other.

  2. in each window go into the directories you want to compare.  (With the help of the 'cd' command.  If you're not comfortable with that, then you should probably go with the external utilities, except if you want to learn the tricks of the command prompt.)

  3. type ' dir/b > A.txt' in one window and "dir/b > B.txt' in the other."  Now you have two text files that list the contents of each directory.  The flag/b means stripped, which removes the list down to only the names of files directories.

  4. move is the same folder as A.txt B.txt.

  5. Type "CF A.txt B.txt".  The command "CF" means file to compare.  It will spit out a list of the differences between the two files, with an additional line of text above and below each difference, so that you know where they are.  For more options on the way in which the output is in the format, type ' fc /? "at the command prompt.  You can also pipe the differences in another file using something like ' CF A.txt B.txt > differences.txt'.

  On each database, I created a schema user "batchdba" and gave them same privilege "dba".

  But when I import (impdp) the dumpfile output from other databases that encrypted table and with the same command, it runs successfully on DEV but not on the UAT.

  How can I compare that privilege is missing from the UAT for the user "batchdba". Or how to compare the privileges granted to these two patterns?
