  I have a Setup RAC 4 knots and I want to be able to backup of all 4 nodes simultaneously. To do this, I want to connect explicitly to each instance of RMAN rather than connect to the DBSID. What is the way for me to do the same? I am not able to connect to specific instances of SQLplus/TNSPING as well as I think that IP SCAN is not able to resolve the SID of the DB, and not the instance ID. When I specify the connection string, there is no failure that it allocates channels automatically to instances (instances of 2 and 2 knots are inactive and do not participate in the backup).

  • -What are the steps I have to do to reach the bottom in order to connect to particular instances of SQLplus?
  • -Should NetCA what I use to set up TNS/Listener - database or a grid?

  For the first question, try to go to start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup and that should clear of junk.  Then click Start | Run and type msconfig and disable the startup items, that you don't need, as many programs decide that they must run at startup and clutter the machine when they do not need to.  Also perform a defragmentation of the disk (under system tools also).  See if that helps with performance and other issues.

  I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 and the process for adding some of my old material has been an interesting question. Who made me stuck is to be able to access my network scanners "mailboxes shared" in order to recover my scans.

  The product in question is a large format Xerox 6204 printer/scanner. The installation process for the basic print server run the 6204 as a network printer went relatively smoothly and seems to work as expected. However, the problem arises when I want to use the functionality of scan of the 6204. Scans are stored in mailbox store ' ' on the 6204 and must be retrieved by a piece of software Xerox called "wide Format Scan Service. Therefore, if you want to rename the same datafiles on the standby database, you must manually make the equivalent modifications on the standby database because the modifications are not performed automatically, even if the STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT initialization parameter is set to AUTO.

Consequently, you will see error messages similar to the following in the alert log:

  ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock datafile 4 - see DBWR trace file
  ORA-01110: datafile 4: '/Disk1/oracle/oradata/payroll/tbs_x.dbf'

  So either the only resolution retype the cert to use SHA1 or wait for an update from Citrix.
