How to consolidate the catalog?

I have 6000 + photos across multiple drives and 100s of files. I need everything on a single hard drive in a folder. SELECT ALL - MOVE does not move all, only a few small random subset? Restore backup does not build a location even if original location is not checked. Help Adobe does not help.  I am looking for a new program to better organize my catalog, unless this can be done easily.

Any ideas?

While you were trying, I practice

Just for fun to test and prove my point, I did the following:

-Create a backup of a catalogue of 36 000 pictures (109 pictures GB) located on several drives to an external USB drive.

-Create another a second catalog of photos of 6,000 after write metadata to files.

-restore the first requirement in a single master folder on a second internal drive in another computer.

-restore the other into a subfolder of the folder above to the new computer

-the catalogue created by the first (main) restoration, I did a file/get pictures / files and folders for the second restoration of the first catalogue restored files.

What has been the result in my restored main catalog?

-nothing has been changed my tags, albums and categories to my main catalog

-a new category of master 'imported' keywords was automatically created and all the second catalog tags have been recovered.

-the second restoration to create catalog a new catalog for pictures of 6,000, exactly the same as the catalog saved (in a custom location)

As I said above, the categories and tags for the second catalog have been automatically merged with those of the main catalog, should be something like an hour to do it manually.

However, I lose nothing categories, albums and creations of the second catalogue, since the restored second catalog is still available from its restoration.

The very basic move of files in a catalog is simply display the folders in the left panel, dragging files to another location (folder of drive or master). It's more easy and different merger or 'consolidate' catalogs (databases).

I understand that you may need more details and explanations for results above, so please ask.

There are two non-obvious ways to find photos that are not in any regular collection of (non-puce):

    1. to add all these photos in the quick Collection:

    1. In the catalog Panel, right click on the Collection quick and make clear quick Collection.
    2. In the catalog Panel, select all photographs.
    3. Photo > stacking > expand all stacks.
    4. In the Collections Panel, select all collections by clicking on the first collection and then shift-click on the last one. If you don't want to include smart collections, then Ctrl/Cmd-click on them in order to exclude them.
    5. Edition > select all.
    6. In the catalog Panel, select all photographs.
    7. Edition > reverse selection.
    8. Photo > add to quick Collection.

  • How to consolidate the two volumes?

    Friends:

My catalogue "somehow" has become divided into two volumes A and B.  A 60 000 and B has 5 000 files.  How to consolidate volumes?  [I want A to have all 65 000 images]

(Later, I want the other volumes being simply a bakup)

I want to add volumes to A and B are my Master Library, with each divided into folders for years and each year, there are folders for each event.  Both volumes have the same folder hierarchy.

Please share your strategy and enlighten me.

    1 million thanks!

I see. The situation that LR does not display files and/or images are on the hard drive even occurs because changes were made outside of LR.

LR is depebdent on its database (the ' catalogue') and not just 'see' what is on the hard drive. When you change files of the image outside LR won't 'see' the new situation - so that you get something on your hard drive and another thing in LR.

Because LR works this way, it is best that you do all of your image management - movement and rename folders and images - LR only. Then, Lr will always display the correct situation.

    Now to your situation:

You say that your readers A und B have exactly the same content. So - at the level of the hard drive - a single disc is a backup copy of the other. It's OK because you want a backup of your images.

So don't change anything on your hard drives.

For LR you must decide: do you want to have a set of images - those on the drive or disk B - LR?

Or you want to have two identical sets of images in LR?

LR is not designed to actually manage duplicates - files that have the same file name. It's OK, as long as the duplicates are in different folders or on different drives.

This is why I suggest that it is easier if you have only a single drive in LR.

If you choose to have only the readers in LR then click photos B (the one with only 5000) of disk, and select .

If you want both of your drives in LR, then click your player B (the one with only 5000 photos) and select . Synchronize the file will import photos (and files) that are on the disk, but not in the LR and delete photos (and files) that are not on the disk.

  • How to integrate the catalog PSE in automated backup?

Hi, I'm going to set up a backup process automated for my computer to a remote ftp site. Including my pictures are simple, but I don't know how the PSE catalog could be reliably. The help of someone who understands how this work would be greatly appreciated.

One way that could work, even if it requires manual steps is backup in PSE. After the backups from PSE, I would include the PSE-backup files in the automated backup. The obvious disadvantages are that I have to:

    -do it manually in PSE

-keep the files backup-PES locally, as an interim step in the procedure, pending automated backup to ftp site.

I am considering the solution below, that would be more interesting if it works:

    1. instead of keep the catalog in the default location, I offer the catalog ('my photos') in my "D:\Data\PSE9" as a location directory in the file-> catalog dialog box. I guess I have to do this from within the PES.

    2. the "C:\Data" directory (where all the images and the catalog is now located) is backup place automatically at the remote ftp location.

Now, let's say I have my hard drive fails and all the data is lost. So I re - install windows & PSE. How would then restore the catalog and the files? This procedure might work?

    3. from the remote backup, I restore all the files in the directory "C:\Data", including photos and the catalog folder "D:\Data\PSE9".

    4. now comes the tricky part. I assumed that I would go into file-> catalog and select custom location, set the location custom to "D:\Data\PSE9".

    5. I then would see the 'My photos' catalogue in the custom location, just as it was before the accident?

    6. then I guess that I just opened the catalogue 'My photos' and everything is back to the way in which this is the last backup time.

This procedure would work and actually produce a reliable backup that can be restored without any problem? A caveat which I foresee is that I would have PSE closed when the backup is actually running, so that I get the file list in the middle of some update or changes. But I can live with.

Thanks for any help and suggestions on this.

To put it simply, I guess that your backup already deals with all types of photos and media in your catalog.

Do not forget to backup included in the Organizer treats these files as the catalog itself (the database).

Where the catalogue? Consult the menu help/information system. You will find the location of the folder that contains the catalog. This folder contains several files and subfolders. Just include the folder and its subfolders in your current backup.

  • Adobe Muse and edge animate - how to consolidate the files on the ftp/server?

    Hi all

I'm working on a site, and I've recently added edge animations animate.  They look great, but the only problem I encounter is that the site load faster I want that there.  I did a few speed test and I think that what is originally the loading time is that I have about 5 edge animations animate different and they each have their own folder separately with their own javascript into a folder called "assets".

Is there a way to consolidate the "assets" folder, so that my site loads more fast?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi, VelveteenWebDesignGroup-

You're in luck!  Add us in a feature in the latest version of edge animate CC (3.0) to activate the CDN for OAM option publish (what we call the "animate Deployment Package").  This means that your animated compositions can now reference jQuery and the runtime Animate the network rather than from the project directory.  (Please note that this will only feel for the integration of Dreamweaver and Muse with OAM and will not make sense for InDesign.)

To enable this, launch Animate and go to file > publishing settings.  Select the Deployment Package animate on the left and click on 'executable files on Adobe CDN to host.  Save and publish, and you should be good to go.

    Hope this helps,

    -Elaine

  • How to restore the catalog section to its original state?

For a previous book, I deleted some tags in the catalog section out-of-the-box. Now I don't have the full set of STANDARD tags for use in a new book.

I have an old document with all tags OOTB, and I can import these tags from the new book. But it would be much easier to simply go back to the original catalogue. Is there a way to do this?

FrameMaker is demanding a model? Are you sure you follow him

good measures? To open a new blank document:

    1. Choose file > new > Document (or Ctrl + N). The 'New' dialog box opens.

    2. click on either the Portrait, landscape or customizing the buttons at the top

of the dialog box. This will create a new blank document, with default

    tags ("out of the box").

    3. open the paragraph catalog. The following default paragraph formats

    must include:

    Body

    Flea

    CellBody

    CellHeading

    Reference

    Title 1

    Title2

    HeadingRunIn

    Indented

    Numbered

    Numbered1

    TableFootnote

    TableTitle

You can then import these tags in a document or book:

    1. open both the file to import (in the blank document)

and the file you want to import to.

    2. click on the file you want to import. (Or, in a .book file,

Select as many files as you want to import in).

    3. Choose file > import > formats. Select the document that you want to import

of in the "Import of Document" drop list, and then uncheck the box

everything but the paragraph Formats (if you want to import only

    paragraph formats).

    4. click on Import *.

    5. who should do it. The default paragraph formats should now be added

    to your existing document.

    • Caveat! If you have formats in your document with the same

name, they will be replaced with the properties of the imported

formats with the same name in the blank document. So, if you

Customize paragraph in your existing document formats, your

    customizations will be lost.

My apologies if I tell you what you already know. I do not have

idea if you are a beginner or experienced user.

Deletion of a paragraph in the section permanently catalog format

Removes from THIS document and this document ONLY. It does not affect

    another document, current or future.

  • How to synchronize the catalog between mac pro and imac?

I recently bought a macbook pro to work on the road.

Since I was a very big picture library (catalogue of 25 GB, + / 40000 photos), I enclose the keywords to make a nice database.

It is a hell of a job. But with my laptop now I could kill time and I am working on my catalog everywhere. This is the big idea.

I would like the same catalog to keep being synchronized between my imac and laptop. My Imac is still my main computer. This is attached to my NAS system and the database of photos of 6 TB.

All the images are in a catalog. On my laptop I don't need access to this database of real images. I just want to make selections, add keywords. Is there some way this can be done easily, without paying attention to the rather, I'm working on my laptop or My Imac, to avoid disrupting the catalogues.

When I import new images on my laptop, I make a new catalog and import/export this to my main catalog, once my files are on their place on my NAS system.

    Hi Wannesnim,

What you describe is more or less how I work all the time. I use Dropbox to synchronize my catalog and use Smart Previews (also synced via Dropbox) to work with my images. I use a MacBook Pro on the go and a Windows machine at home. I created a video tutorial explaining how this is done:

  • How to consolidate the files 2 GB hard into one?

I have created a virtual machine from a physical Windows XP system by having the converter on read a True Windows Disk Image backup and he managed to create a virtual machine that has copied on my iMac and I can run with the merger.  But he created the virtual machine with 20 files hard physical between 1 G and a little less than 2 GB (myVM - s001.vmdk myVM - s019.vmdk and myVM.vmdk).

I would like to get this in one hard file.  How can I do this on Mac OS X?

    Thank you

Manager of vdisk is stored in/Library/Application Support / VMware Fusion / it is a terminal application, so if you open terminal and drag it in there and press ENTER, you will receive the individual options.  It is a sophisticated method to change your virtual machine.  In your case, he translated the virtual disk in the format that you specify.  It actually creates another virtual machine with the same information inside, so when completed, you should have two.  The difficulty with that is that you need a space left on your computer to make a new.  So for example in the terminal if I enter the following command it must create a new virtual machine with the same information but a monolithic disc rather than split it into 2 GB pieces.   "/ Library/Application Support/vmware-vdiskmanager-r/Users/user_name/Documents/Virtual\ Machines / Windows\ Professional XP\ / Windows\ XP\ Professional.vmdk t 0 Users/username/Documents/Virtual\ Machines/XP_Pro.vmdk.

This should create a single expandable virtual disk inside your virtual computers folder.  From there, you can create a new virtual machine using an existing virtual drive and choose this disc.

The other way to do this sort of thing would be to vCenter Converter allows you to create a new virtual machine disks.

Normally, if you have a snapshot and enter the section hard drives options will be grayed out and there will be a notification that says "these parameters is not editable so that the virtual machine has a snapshot.  To make these changes, first delete all snapshots. »

If you open your .vmwarevm there will probably be snapshot files there which depends on the virtual machine.  Fusion can sometimes lose the recording of snapshots during an upgrade to a superior fusion version if the virtual machine has snapshots.
