  This notification is managed by BTTray.exe process. You must change the following registry entries to ged rid of this ugly alert:

  Press the Windows key and type 'regedit' > go to

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Widcomm > BTConfig > General > KeyIndication

  Change the value of 'KeyIndication' from '1' to '0 '.

  Reset...

  And the wicked notification disappeared!

  The question is when ever I type in another Forum, such as this one; or an email or even a Word document and I activate the "Caps" lock - it will get the sentence I type and I have the mouse to where I was.

  I know that I get a notification "on the screen", but what the hell is happening? It shouldn't start me the sentence when I type.

  I searched for hours and finally comes to join this community. So is it a Vista problem or a problem of Dell?

  You have Dell Quickset, installed on your system? Have you looked inside for a parameter disable the notification?

  EDIT: According to this thread, it is certainly a matter of quick adjustment... They solved by uninstalling QuickSet, but there may be a QuickSet setting to disable the notification...

  Yes.  Go to search programs and files that immediately precedes the Start button and type "toggle" and select "Change how your keyboard works" and select "Activate the ToggleKeys."

  Another way to get there: go to control panel > accessibility > Ease of Access Center > make the keyboard easier to use - then select "activate the ToggleKeys.

  Could be the caps lock and the left SHIFT keys are blocked. Open your 'OSK', start-> all programs-> Accessories-> accessibility-> keyboard on the screen. The shift caps lock and shift keys have red contours (highlighted). Click on them and see what happens. You may need to remove the dirt under the keys with compressed air, you may also need to remove the caps, if that does not work. See the link below on how to remove and replace the keys:

  This indicator is provided by the keyboard device driver.  The driver included with the keyboards that Microsoft sells won't stay on the screen.  You can search your favorite search engine for "software keyboard indicator", there are some online that keeps the current keys shown in the taskbar near the clock.
