  I use Norton anti-virus for nearly a decade.  For this reason, I have not installed Windows Security, as it is in conflict.  I do every week a routine Windows Update.  Two nights ago, it looks like Windows Update automatically installed Windows security without my permission.  This has created a huge conflict with Norton anti-virus, various alerts of infection appeared and my network of connections have been disabled.  I had no choice but to do a system restore and disable Windows Update altogether.  I want to update Windows for occasional useful bugfixes, but cannot take the risk of extreme hassle of security of Windows being installed without my permission.  Any ideas?

  So far, the system restore and the sweet Norton seems to have fixed.  But he was mean.

  If you manage to somehow move to Win7, you will always have an infected computer.

  The ONLY way to solve the problem is by formatting the current hard drive and do a clean installation of Windows, whether it is WinXP or Win7.

  The ONLY way you can do a clean install of Windows XP if you have disks that came with the computer or if by chance, there is a hidden partition restore (not to be confused with the system restore).

  If your kids er - well & their spouses are going to spend money on a new HARD drive, they'be be better spend on a low-end Windows 7 computer and brand-new (for example, a netbook or a mini).

  NB: Any data on your Windows XP computer must be considered 100% reliable! (This includes all of your usernames and passwords, for example, those used for online banking, etc.) You do NOT want to put ALL the data from Windows XP to a new computer or HARD disk.

  In FL Studio and final, you'll need to use what is called a soft-synth and play your midi keyboard entry in the output of the soft-synth.

  I don't have either of these programs, I use Sonar, but I imagine that the process is very similar.
  Go to the Options Audio / Midi of these two softwares, make that your keyboard is enabled and recognized as default midi input in W7 (via the mixer)
  Opens on two software and go to the Midi Options. Select your keyboard as input device and also deselect GS Wavetable if in the list.
  Open a project and insert a soft-synth (GTR on operation lunch in case of doubt). This should open a midi and audio. Again select your keyboard as the entry in the midi track and your soft synth out of.
  In the audio track, select the midi track (or omnidirectional) as input and your audio output device. In the case of any doubt then RTM.
  S theabove how base in any DAW to use a keyboard, via a soft-synth, passing the GS Wavetable aweful...
  Once you have done so for a software, you will have to do for each other. I strongly advise you to save the entire upward as a model, if possible, so you will not have to start the implementation of rigmarole.

• How to activate an anti-virus that is transformed - SOLUTION

  I have XP sp3 and run MS essentials exclusively.  My firewall is turned on, my automatic updates are turned on.  Antivirus comes spontaneously turned off itself and there seems to be no way to turn it back on.

  After the failure of a lot of troubleshooting that included download manually 3 new updates security indicated in the taskbar and restarting my computer (both running automatic updates), I found the solution by trial and error.

  HERE'S A SIMPLE SOLUTION:

  • Open the MS Essentials (green "tent") icon in the taskbar.
  • Click the updates tab.
  • Do a manual update by clicking on the button update.
  • My Antivirus is back on.

  Either by the way, I had read at least 10 other answers to forum about this problem, but responses were irrelevant or useless (links to the download & MS items or questions on other AV software Center when the customer has already declared MSE is already installed, & no other AV.)  Or even more drastic - suggestions of a computer virus. (The answer may actually be much easier than a virus or have to do a new download.)

  I hope that the moderators will read this and offer the solution above as a simple solution of first line before other more drastic measures or of long duration (like new MSE downloads). No offense to the moderators - I know you are trying to help and enjoy us.  I blame more on there is not not a reactivation of the virus protection utility button.

  I hope this solution is helpful and useful and other spare parts the same sense of frustration and wasted time + that I have lived.

  Find the device you want and check its MidiOutId and put it in the default MidiOut Device\MidiOutID.
