How to download an ISO VMware Studio?

Hi, I am new to VMware Studio and fairly new to Linux. I'm trying to follow steps for 'Creation of a Windows-Based VM' Developer Guide for the first time. The tab of OS, VMware Studio requires a URL Pointant to the ISO of Windows Installer media. How can I make this point to an ISO file on a share on a Windows Server? Or how can I point to an ISO on a VMware ESX data store file? Or, if none of these techniques is possible, how do I copy an ISO file from a Windows share for the VMware Studio system? It seems, Googling around, I should be able to copy files from Windows using the smbclient servers, but the command line Linux on VMware Studio system said smbclient is not installed, and when I try to install it via 'sudo apt - get install smbfs', it generates the error "cannot find the smbfs package. Thanks for your suggestions.

> The tab of OS, VMware Studio requires a URL Pointant to the ISO of Windows Installer media.

You can use the third "winscp" tool to copy the ISO on your local computer to VMware Studio.

The path of the VMware Studio ISO file is/opt/vmware/www/ISV/ISO /.

or

You can use VMware Studio IP to download ISO in VMware Studio machine VM Windows. The credentials by default for VMware Studio is the user name = root and the password = vmware

for example
192.168.29.134\depot\ISO

  • How to download and access ISO image Base of Windows OS

    Hello

I'm new to vmware. I started building a Virtual Appliance using Studio of VM. It requires an ISO image of the Base OS of Windows to be accessible from the virtual appliance VM Studio.

To get this downloaded ISO, I used vSphere Client and traveled the "data store" in the store of the Studio VM data, created a directory called vmiso and downloaded the Windows 2008 ISO server to this directory. Now, how is this directory accessible from the console of Ubuntu? What is the path of the URL of this ISO file?

    Thank you.

    1. you can copy Windows 2008 ISO server in VMware Studio using winscp.exe or Filezilla.exe.

    2. you can copy the ISO ESX in VMware Studio Server using the scp command.

    SCP Windows.iso root@VMwareStudioIP:/opt/vmware/www/ISV/ISO/

This is the path in VMware Studio, where you suppose to copy the ISO file.

    / opt/vmware/www/ISV/ISO /.

AlterNet is, if you have NFS server in your environment, and then copy the ISO in Windows 2008 Server to the NFS server and mount the server NFS VMware Studio and softlink ISO as follows. This way you can save the space in the Studio.

    1. mkdir/ISO-Server.

    2. Mount-t nfs IPNFSServer: / ISO_SERVER/ISO-Server.

    3. / opt/vmware/www/ISV/ISO CD.

    4. ln s/ISO-Server/Windows.iso.

After that, while building the WILL, VMware Studio will be pick-up ISO automatically from this path.

Unfortunately, you must have prepared a recovery disk in advance or use the one provided with your computer.

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

  • How to increase the size of the disk partition VMware Studio.

    Hello

I installed the VMWare Studio unit on ESX 4.0 host system. I've been running more disk space for builds, so I wanted to provide more space for the SCSI in ESX, Edit-settings of the Virtual Appliance. I increased the size to 256 GB SCSI disk.

I then went to the guest VMWare Studio system, and the device/dev/sda5 displays always only 30 GB, and 12 GB is exhausted. How can I make the Guest OS from VMWare Studio unit see the increase in size?

I tried to use "parted", but this fails because/dev/sda5 is mounted. "' I can't umount/dev/sda5 as/dev/sda5" is ongoing. " I am aware of the 1004047 of the Knowledge Base article, but it is of no use, because is not specifically for VMWare Studio unit.

    Thank you.

If you have a lot of disk space on the ESX Server, yes creating and adding a new virtual disk (vmdk) to the VM Studio is the way to go. Mount the new drive for the Studio colleagues OS (Ubuntu), and the key is/opt/vmware/www/build simple installation on the new disk to create the new space drive for Studio use. Don't forget to back up your existing data in this directory first. See http://communities.vmware.com/thread/244715?tstart=0 for the similar explanation. Let us know how it goes.

  • Problem with Vmware Studio 2.6 for URL datastore

    Problem:

When VMware Studio 2.6 completes the deployment of the primary OVF on the data store, it fails when you try to put the WinInstall file on the data store.

    [Warning] Unable to

    Download /opt/vmware/www/build/W2K3_baseline.1/va/192.168.1.179_W2K3_baseline_winInstall.ftp

I went through the debugging file, found the command that failed and I tried to run it manually. The command is the/opt/vmware/share/build/database. When I run this command manually, it fails with the same error.

I also noticed that all the other/opt/vmware/share/database, iso and other command also fails. Omitting all do for the URL.

May we make a suggestion as to the cause of this problem?  This problem could be related to a security on the network, the apache setting or the machine?

Hi, I also had a problem with 2.6 and get the mentioned error (22, ' the URL reqested returned the error: 401') when you create a virtual CentOS machine. In my case, I found that my problem was caused by the stripping of command/opt/vmware/share/build/datastore on the "------" to my domain\userid. I could see what happens when I ran the/opt/vmware/share/build/datastore command with the option - debug. After figure this out, I removed the prefix field of my build settings tab in the profile of my Studio and worked to build.

A slight concern is the number of sessions of vCenter used by the build process, as during my test that it was more than 40 years. It seems as if some commands can connect to vCenter but not outside. Also I was wondering if the screenshot feature could be the cause as seems to work ~ 4 times per minute?

  • How to burn an ISO (which is a bootable CD/DVD) to a USB port?

How to burn an ISO (which is a bootable CD/DVD) to a USB port?

I usually burn ISO files bootable CD or DVD with NERO6, 7.   Now, I would like to burn on a USB key.

Ideas on a good and stable program?

    I. - Download the software that makes bootable USB drives the ISO. WinToFlash http://www.bing.com/search?q=+WinToFlash+&form=HPDTDF&pc=HPDTDF&src=IE-SearchBox> and Unetbootin http://www.bing.com/search?q=UNetbootin&form=HPDTDF&pc=HPDTDF&src=IE-SearchBox> are the two options included in the section resources. The software will automatically convert iso files on a USB drive and make it bootable.

II. - open and install your chosen software. The software will be an installation clicks where pressing a couple of times then you have ready to go.

III. - Plug the USB and check what drive it is listed as in 'my computer '.

IV. - Launch your chosen software and specify paths. There will be two sections to choose from. Look for the converted ISO file in the download or the source article. For the second section, select the path or the destination (USB key) is transferred to ISO.

    V. - click 'Next' and let the program create a USB bootable ISO file. It may take some time depending on the size of the ISO file. When the process is finished, you have a bootable USB key with your ISO file.

  • Download the iso files tool part?

I have a laptop dv7 640 gig 2 years old and I got the imminent message "hard drive failure. So, I backed up the hard drive (8 DVDs) and make the recovery discs (6 DVD). I bought a new Seagate 500 gigs HDD and installed. I then started the recovery process.

Then, I got a message that says that my new hard drive is smaller than the original and will not proceed. I tried installs four different without success, to get a blank screen with the exception of the logo hp on the center of the screen and a Press esc to menu.

I read the advice to try downloading the iso file through dvd or usb. My question is: the directions speak using the w7 dvd/usb download tool. This part of tool of downloading the files? How do I get it on my first computer? I know it's probably easy, but it would be nice for me to get that clarified before proceeding to downloads.

    THX.

    Hello

As the error that you are experiencing is simply due to the fact that recovery disks will not properly install on a disk smaller than that they were created on, I just burn the ISO correct on a blank DVD and use it to run the installation - there is no need to create a bootable USB key, unless you have a problem with the optical drive of your laptop.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( this must be the version exact same origin supplied with your laptop ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

All pilots additional and the software, you may need can be found by entering your full model number or Nr here.

  • 910219. how to download and keep the Windows Update files?

    Hello

What is the ideal way to update Windows? now, Windows downloads the selected updates. where? I do not know! and after their installation, it removes the packages for installation on my computer. This causes the downloaded updates are lost, and I can't use them to similar machines that need to install the same updates. for these machines, I have to download updates again! This causes my internet to be charged again while it is not really necessary.

the ideal way, in my view, is that I can specify a folder for the Windows Update service. It can use a default folder for that also. After selecting the updates, I want to install in my system, it checks to see if the update is already existing in the folder. only if NOT it downloads. then after downloading it maintains the package in the same folder after installing. installation should be done automatically as it is done now. Then I can move the folder to another machine. in the second machine, I also choose the update I want to be installed which are mostly the same as the first machine. for example, Windows Update only consumes my internet traffic for updates that are not yet downloaded. I wonder why Windows Update doesn't currently work the same way?

by this method, I can at least use the consumption of traffic and I can access the latest updates with the easier and faster way. I I would like to choose a memory flash for this purpose and keep the folder inside.

is there a way to achieve this?
