How to fix my USB device wireless of Linksys AE1000 of intruders in XP?

I am dumping Comcast because they have triggered my rate for internet so I thought I'll go wireless. PC - XP SP3, IE8. Bought a Linksys AE1000. Haven't opened the box yet. If I want to use it, I have a good signal on my Toshiba laptop. I can get a signal that is not secure on a network called Powellhurst in my neighborhood. Don't know if this is a public or private network. I did a search on Powellhurst wireless and it happens at a McDonald's in the street.

How to secure this wireless USB device against intruders? What security settings for additional windows, if any, I have to use. What concerns should I have on this effort wireless?

Thank you

  • How to fix my usb ports? Not correctly recognize the iPod and other devices of storage correctly.

I had problems with getting my iPod classic 6th generation to be recognized by my computer windows 7.  It works very well but all of a sudden stopped working.  When I connect the iPod, it says on the product than its 'connected' and is in charge, but does not appear on "my computer" or on iTunes.  Now, I supposed that it was a problem with my apple product, but after putting in the store and plug both Mac and PCs, this worked fine, its clear that it is actually a problem with my specific PC.
All software are up to date and I tried stop and start the unit. (Control Panel > administrative tools > services > device mobile apple).  The PC also recognizes the iPod randomly once in a while and I managed to restore the iPod to factory settings to ensure that there is no problem with the device itself.

As stated earlier that the iPod is not visible in 'my computer', but when "devices and printers", there are two elements relating to the iPod, appearing almost as if it's two separate devices. the first is "apple ipod usb device" on the devices section and "Apple mobile device USB driver" in the section not specified.  When I click the first device it freezes the computer for awhile.
I tried to move the ipod to different USB ports that make no difference.  However, when I put in a pen memory USB (TDK 4 GB), it initially also put it in unspecified, but with a yellow warning down logo on the left and when I moved my wireless usb key for my keyboard, it didn't work initially.  These two seem to have resolved themselves in Device Manager...

In my view, there is a problem with my usb ports grateful drivers. Any idea what I need to do?

    Hi kimhyun,

I tried this. But managed. I used the USB as my sugesstion to device.my USB is that you unplug your device at any point of your work. Check that the device is properly connected. IF your system has recognized your device, you can view the device in Control Panel > Device Manager > then open your particular device from the list of the connected device then details > description of the system > hardware ID > then you can find here the code from your provider.

Try this. I think that your device is connected to loosen. What USB device you are using? Also, you must install THE DRIVER FOR YOUR USB DEVICE.

  • How I fixed my USB ports not working not problem. Two ports left side previously does not... HP Dv7

So I do not know what is not "where it will honestly, but put there just to try to help someone else who has struggled with this as long as I did it...» I ended up having my two USB ports on the left side (turned out to be my 3.0 ports) working again when they recognize nothing. I could use the USB 2 on right 2.0 ports, but the transfer rate was terrible.

My answer on another question where someone had a similar problem... good luck!

    'Hi. '

Not sure if this will help, but I had the same problem, the two ports on the left did not work on my Dv7. All this time I thought that the USB on the right were my 3.0 ports so I thought that would be nice, but it's been over a year that I initially had this problem and made a bunch of maintenance of the system meant that I would look through it again. In any case, I went to the Device Manager through the computer management tool. I know that you can go straight to the Device Manager, but just give you exactly how I did it. You can search just to start computer management.

So I chose Device Manager in the menu on the left side and it looked like ordinary Device Manager. Went down to Universal Serial bus controllers... at this stage, I watched the action menu on the right and select more actions, opinions and you click Show hidden devices. After that I went through my USB controllers one by one as I had done many times before and checked them, tried the update of drivers, etc... Under the USB controllers Section, I noticed something like xHCI Host controller of compliance Test... I right click it and went into its details, I tried the driver updated and installed the new driver. 2 new USB controllers immediately arises: Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller and root hub.

Switched on a test drive from the right thumb to the left and the computer instantly recognized and installed the driver for the stick.

And that was all... hope it helps even if this is later. "

  • Need help connecting USB device

I am running VMWare Server 2 on Windows 7 64-bit. VM is Windows XP, my old computer virtualized with software that does not work under Win 7. I don't understand how to connect a USB device, my cell phone, on my system the virtual machine host. The drop-down features of the VMWare Console includes no USB or fact toolbar at the bottom right of the Console window. The management console has an entry for the USB, but the only choice is delete.

The documentation says "In the menu of controller USB in the toolbar, select the device you want to connect in the sector in the list hosts". I can't locate this list. Can anyone provide a picture?

The virtual machine has a virtual USB device in its hardware settings? If not, add a when the virtual machine is shut down. Also ensure that VMware Tools is installed in the virtual machine. If in doubt, please post (tie) file for the virtual machine's .vmx. I would also check that you have the VM hardware version 7 to version because it's better for the USB feature. The menu of the USB connect device should be available when the virtual computer is highlighted in the left pane of the console.

  • I use a USB device for the first time. My computer windows Xp does not recognize. How can I fix this prob, and where can I get the info to fix it?

When I insert my USB for the first time, it is said that it has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. Am I missing driver for USB or what? I need step by step instructions on how to fix this prob. I'm an amateur. Thank you.

I need step by step instructions on how to fix this prob. I'm an amateur. Thank you.

Step 1.  Identify the make and model of the USB device.
Step 2: Identify the version of Windows XP you have, including service pack (start > run > winver > OK)

Although the following steps 1 & 2 you could get extra help, I suspect that the 'USB device' has indeed "defective" and you have to go back to where you got it and request a refund or a replacement.

    Hi Jon0909,

The error that you received can be for several reasons. I suggest you try the following steps:

Method 1: Run the fixit available in the link below and check if that makes a difference

Tips for solving problems of USB devices

Method 2: This normal matter as a result of a conflict between the USB and other USB (Universal Serial Bus) connected to the computer.

    (a) disconnect all the external devices connected to the computer to expect the mouse and keyboard, check if your USB key works.

    (b) If this solves the problem, and then add back both devices until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue.

I looked at some of the newspapers (but there were too many pass by) to current user\AppData\Local\Temp c:\users\.  Newspapers have been named: vminst.log, vmsetup.log, vmmsi.log.  I can post them if it will help, but there are several of them and different copies under different users (admin1, user1, user2, etc.)

I tried to manually start the USB Arbitration Service and it starts not (same simple error, error 31 above).

I looked for a "AMD USB filter driver ' to turn it off (it worked for someone else) but not found one installed.

    My configuration is:

    Hardware: HP Pavilion Elite - AMD X 4 2.6 GHz 8Gig DDR3

SE host: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit (Build 7600) 6.1.7600

Guest OS: Win XP Pro SP3 (but I think that the problem is not related to the guest)

    VMWare Worksation: 7.0.0 build-203739

I like the speed of the system, but I also met problems disc cloaning (for some reason, the SATA drives are not detected by some software disk imaging).   I was able to get the ghost at work but not Acronis, Paragon or.  I think that it is a separate issue but leaving it where it is important.  In these cases, the messages indicated that the X 58 chipset (I think this is right, but I'm not positive).  He is a level too low to follow me.

I have fought this same problem on a Vista machine.

Try to right click on one of the USB hubs and looking at the details of the driver. If usbfilter.sys is listed open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000} and remove the UpperFilter, pair of usbfilter.

I rebooted and it works fine now.
