    Hi Sam,

This issue may have caused due to infection by the virus or system files missing or damaged or because of the corruption of the user profiles. I would like to know some information about this problem so that we can help you further.

    1. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

    2. do you get any error code or error message while starting?

    3. have you checked if the problem occurs on a different user account?

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it works for you.

    Method 1:

Run the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if there is any threat of viruses found.

    Microsoft safety scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. During these 10 days, it will remove all the files infected by the virus and records. I suggest you create a backup of your data, and then install Microsoft Safety Scanner.

    Method 2:

Run the System File Checker scan and check if it helps. This will help you to find and replace missing or damaged system files.

See the following article from Microsoft Support to run the System File Checker.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us

    Method 3:

If you have not checked if the problem occurs on a different user account are not, then try again to create a new user account and check if the problem persists. This is to check if the problem is caused due to the corruption of user profiles or not.

See the following article from Microsoft Help to create a new user account.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=Windows-7

If the problem does not persist in the new user account, then try the steps in the following article from Microsoft Help to fix the damaged user profile.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/fix-corrupted-user-profile#1TC=Windows-7

Please reply with the status of the issue so that we can better help you.

Unfortunately, while giving it for maintenance, Service Center authorized Lenovo not asked me to create a recovery media. Everything taking the delivary of the laptop service center could not activate windows 8.1 (this laptop computer OS has been pre-loaded & under warranty). Can someone tell me how to get the product activation key.

Sorry, I fergot to quote these two motherboard have been replaced as original hard drive & motherboard had developed the fault for which I had to abandon for maintenance & replacement & maintenance for 2 & 1/2 months.

What version of Win 8.1 is the unit having now? If it's the PRO version, then probably you need to enter a product key if you reinstall. Try to download using the tool of media win 8.1 64 bit (no PRO version). Use it to install Win'a 8.1. The product key should be detected and you will not be required to enter as described above.

  • How to get the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to recognize a file bootsect on my XP 32 bit machine, if I bought Windows 7 64 bit?

Title says it all. I scoured the internet for an answer.

I bought Windows 7 Professional Upgrade with the discount for students. I downloaded the file .iso image 64 bit on my account "Downloads + product keys." I also downloaded Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to make a USB bootable for Windows 7. I ran the utility and everything worked well, but at the end of step 4, I received the message "files copied successfully. However, we were able to run bootsect to make the USB drive bootable. If you need help bootsect... blah blah blah. »

I went looking for answers and I found the troubleshooting for the show here: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool#ms_help_topics_at0
Next to Windows 7, step 3 says "is there an"additional download options"drop-down list."
I had that day, but then this:
    Step 4: "in the drop-down menu, select"32-bit ISO." »
This is not possible, because I bought the 64 bit version of Windows 7. All I see are the 64-bit .iso and .exe.
I tried searching through Microsoft answers and found that many other people had this problem. I tried all of the suggestions for workarounds in this thread. http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-windows_install/problem-using-Win7-usbdvd-download-tool-concerning/37eadf15-85DD-4e56-A89C-fa0a3339b92e
The only solution I have tried was downloading the file bootsect from one source other than Microsoft.
Is it seriously the only way to make it work? To download a BOOTSECT FILE from an UNTRUSTED SOURCE? Come on, Microsoft.

If you purchased Windows 7 since the MS Store:

When you create a bootable USB device, I get an error on bootsect
To make the USB bootable, you must run a tool called bootsect.exe. In some cases, this tool must be downloaded from your Microsoft Store account. This can happen if you try to create a USB bootable 64-bit from 32-bit version of Windows. To download bootsect:

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft Store account to view your purchase history
    2. Search for your purchase of Windows 7.
    3. Next to Windows 7, there is a drop-down list "additional download options.
    4. In the drop-down menu, select "32-bit ISO."
    5. Right-click on the link and then save the bootsect.exe file to the location where you installed the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool (for example C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apps\Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool).
    6. Once the file has been saved, return to the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool to create your bootable USB device.

If you didn't buy Windows 7 since the MS Store:

Follow these instructions to work around the bootsect error:

    a. download and install the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool program, as described on theMicrosoft Store website.

    b. download a working version of 32-bit bootsect.exe . Here is a link to the 32 bit bootsect.exe:

    bootsect7600x86.zip
    From: http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/54443-32-bit-bootsect.html

    c. Once downloaded, copy the BootSect.exe file in the same folder that contains the file ofWindows7-USB-DVD-Download - Tool.exe installed. This file in Windows Vista's default installation directory isC:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Apps\Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool\ (you need to look in XP)

    d. application of the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool as described on theMicrosoft Store website. The end result will give you a boot USB flash drive that contains everything you need to install the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

  • How to get the Windows 7 product key?

My friend laptop is broken and must be reformatted. It is an Acer and did not come with any CD. It doesn't have a partition on the hard drive for files to restore. I think that someone who may have removed it long ago.

The computer came with Windows 7 preinstalled. He has a sticker at the bottom of the laptop, but the heat green product keys and other key wear is more readable.

I have the same version of Windows, so I was going to just to use my DVD to install Windows on your computer, and then use the product key to activate it. So that Microsoft knows that it is a copy of geninue. The entire label is faded.

I tried to find what is the product key and I'm not. I know it must be stored in the computer somewhere I need find and write it down so I can use the same product key when I reinstall Windows on his computer. I don't think that my product key will work on his computer.

I've read online, you can get the product key from the registry, but I have no idea how to do that. I want to just make sure I can get the computer active again once that I format it.

    Thank you.

You should be able to order from the manufacturer OEM recovery disks. (no key needed, because the OEM SLP key is incorporated)

  • Re: Satellite M100-164 - how to get the recovery disk?

Hi, I have a used Satellite M100-164. (short only model no psma0e)

Its a M100 changed for the Middle East market as well far as I can tell its basically the same as the European models of M100, except with a smaller hard drive.

I bought it in a store of play (Computer Exchange in London), but it did not come with a recovery disk.

Also, I was a little too active pro removing unwanted software of the machine, so I have not installed the Toshiba tools that would be able to create a recovery disk.

Now I need one because I want to install a bigger hard drive and then re - build the operating system (which is XP)

    * So my question is, where and how do I get a recovery for this notebook drive? *

I tried to use https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu, but it did not work because the serial number was not recognized (probably because it is a region of the Middle East series no)

is there another way to get the Toshiba recovery disks? I'm happy to pay a little for one.

    Hello

In most cases it is possible to get the EPA recovery disc in your country.
But this is not always possible if the laptop model is too old or abandoned.

Therefore, get in touch with the ASP guy and ask for more details.
Maybe you are a lucky man and could get this disc.

If you will not get this disc, you will need to install the OS by using the MS XP disk.
Pilots must be placed on the page of Toshiba Europe!

    Hello

I m not very good if you want to be able to order the recovery for this unit disc, because in very rare cases, the recovery disc may be pronounced if the laptop model is too old.

So I hope that you can order it here:

You can also try to contact the ASP in your country and ask the guy if he could order the Toshiba disk directly

    Sparky

Near there, it is actually the amount of free space on the data store over the current size of the hard drive.

With this script, you can calculate the value

    foreach($dev in (Get-VM  | Get-View).Config.Hardware.Device){
      if($dev.DeviceInfo.Label -like "Hard Disk*"){
        $dsFree = (Get-Datastore (Get-View -Id $dev.Backing.Datastore).Info.Name).FreeSpaceMB
         $diskSize = ($dev.CapacityInKB / 1Kb)
         $MaxSize = $dsFree + $diskSize
         Write-Host "Maximum size for" $dev.DeviceInfo.Label "=" ("{0:f2}" -f (($dsFree + $disksize)/ 1Kb)) "Gb"
      }
    }
