How to Hibernate or sleep in Win - 7.

I had to reinstall Win - 7 to clean my system and now the sleep and Hibernate functions do not work.  I downloaded the latest updates and drivers for the video card.  When I try to use the powercfg - h cmd.  I'm here one or several former drivers are installed: VgaSave a component internal system has disabled the hibernation.  When I click on start and go to the options of closing the sleep and hibernate or grayed out.  The functions worked when I first upgraded to Win 7 from Vista, but I had so many problems with my all in one printer I have reinstalled so I can get the driver for it to install.  Says to turn off hybrid sleep video I don't have this option.  My menu says enable or disable wake up under sleep options in the advanced settings.  I Edition Win 7 Home Premium.  Is there a way to fix this with boot from Win 7 disc.  I'm tired of the fight against these problems.  I also lost several special keys on my HP keyboard functions.

Is it a laptop or a fixed?  You download and install the card mother/system board chipset utilities?  If it's a laptop, did you download and install electricity?

The reason why you can not put the laptop to sleep or into hibernation is because you need to install the NVidia graphics driver too what this hardware ID.

  • I installed Win 7, sis discovered downloaded illegally, ran XP and now how do I get rid of Win 7? Help, please! VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE AND THANK YOU!

Okay, so I came one day at home to find Win 7 Ult on my computer. It turns out that my sister downloaded illegally, which I had no idea until it crashed my computer. He stopped working out of a reboot, I therefore had no choice but to run my backup version of Windows XP Professional. I wanted to keep the files of windows 7, I had some important docs ther, so I installed Windows XP under the C:\WINDOWS.old file and it works from there, and win 7 is in the C:\Windows folder. I have only one disk-37, 2 Go C, so I need all the space I can get. I don't know much about computers, but how do I get rid of Win 7 files which absorb almost 10 GB on my hard drive with Win XP works well? Win XP is activated and genuine. I heard someone say "Format the C drive", but then I read about it online and found that it could make my computer unusable! I don't know how to fix it! Please help me, it's very important that I have solve this problem quickly, I am sinking money in flash drives and CDs. help, please and thank you!

In addition, my system is a Dell GX280 series, pentium 4 with 512 MB of RAM, or 502 a 37.2 GB C drive. It has been renovated and came pre-installed with Windows XP.

The BIOS and Windows are not the same, you cannot make permanent changes to the BIOS settings only.

When you format your hard drive it will wipe all information off of it (it's your personal files, Windows, everything, etc.), but your computer still won't turn.  Your can configure which devices to start the system turn off the first, so when we need to start installing Windows from a CD, you need to configure the BIOS first boot device to be the CD-ROM drive (follow thesteps to clean install xp).  You must ensure that your CD of Windows XP is in the CDROM drive ready to begin the clean install, and there should be a point when your system say "press any key to boot from the CD-ROM...".

You can also follow the procedure here a clean installation of Windows XP: http://www.theeldergeek.com/clean_installation_of_windows_xp.htm

  • How to activate the Sleep function to put the computer to sleep if a program is open?

I have Windows Vista basic on a desktop Dell 530.  I found that if I have a program or application running (such as I-tunes or windows media player) then the Sleep function will not put the computer to sleep.  How to activate the Sleep function to replace these programs and put the computer to sleep?

Note: This is how it was with windows XP, the Sleep function would put the computer to sleep no matter what was running, he was reliable, if you left the computer and I forgot that you had something running.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi kevino4130,

If you disable sharing on your computer (not only the power settings) of media, it should allow him to enter the mode 'sleep'.

See if that does not solve your problem and let us know.

  • How can I set an automatic sleep period Win 7 Pro

How can I set the duration of sleep to a Win 7 Pro PC, for example go to sleep automatically an hour given while wake up automatically at a specific time?

This PC is basically unattended but files hosts used by the other computers on a peer-to-peer network.

Run this batch file to put the machine to sleep:

    ================================

    Powercfg/h off
    Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll, SetSuspendState

    ================================

The Powercfg /h off command requires that the scheduled task will run with the highest privileges.

If you want to stop the computer rather than put it to sleep, use the command shutdown instead of the command of powrprof.dll, SetSuspendState rundll32.exe.

To start the computer it just create a simple task and go to the properties of the task a 'Conditions' tab, select the option to enable the computer to run the task.

Note that the condition of 'Wake computer' relies on the BIOS clock to wake the computer, the computer must support this (do most desktop computers), and the option must be enabled in BIOS power options.  When you enable the option in the BIOS do not allow the timer to all zeros, enter a manual setting any or although the BIOS is unable to activate the feature, Windows will overwrite the timer with the correct date & time when you started the scheduled task.

Note that a computer into hibernation do not wake to run a scheduled task.

I looked in the event viewer and the resolution of the problems of power identifies the as Source Wake device USB root hub. The two hubs do not wake have actually allowed it is grayed out

Someone has any suggestions, or is it just a "red herring."

    Thank you very much

    Hello

This should help you find the problem:

"How to solve a problem of Mode Vista or Windows 7 sleep"

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/63567-power-options-sleep-mode-problems.html

In addition to the other steps in the link read step 4:

    STEP 4

To see what had Waked Up Windows latest

NOTE: This will give you a list of items that awoke the last computer that can narrow down what wakes up the computer.

    1. open the Start Menu.

2 in the white line (search) box, type cmd and press enter.

3 in the command prompt, type powercfg-lastwake and press enter. (See screenshot below)
NOTE: Notice that I had USB\ROOT\HUB listed. For me, it would be the USB wireless mouse. Result of your list can vary of course.

  • How to Hibernate Windows 8, there is no other choice 'see the hibernation' Advanced

I just got a Windows 8 tablet (Asus enrich your life TF810 - complete Win8 no RT). I have read all the instructions on how to add back into hibernation and under define power buttons I chose "Change settings that are currently unavailable" and 'Stop settings' returns to its position, but there is no option "Show the hibernation", only to start quick start, sleep and lock. I am running Windows in administrator mode.

    Hello

I found the solution. It is here http://www.windows8core.com/enable-hibernate-button-windows-8-developer-preview/

You must use the GPEdit.msc tool to modify a computer configuration policy. You must navigate to:

Computer configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows components > File Explorer option activate and then 'See the putting into hibernation in the power options menu'.

Please note that the original post "Windows Explorer" points such that it refers to a Windows 8 Preview. It seems that in the GTR, it was renamed to "File Explorer".

I tested and it worked. See you soon.
