  If your machine comes with Windows 7, then it is likely that the hard drive is SATA.

  XP will not install on SATA drives natively. This is the usual reason for this installation failure.

  You must either change the setting in the BIOS from AHCI to inheritance, or (preferred) to see if your vendor has drivers SATA for XP you offer then for installation via pressing F6 in the first installation of windows.
