  My computer is Windows Vista Business 32-bit, SP2.

  I disabled Windows updates because the computer has installed SteadyState and SteadyState manages Windows updates every night. During the first installation of SteadyState, it disables automatic updates because it manually run them on a calendar.

  Unfortunately, this means that I'm not able to update Microsoft Office (I have computers with Office XP, Office 2003 and Office 2007). I'm able to use Windows Update in the start menu, but it only gets updates for Windows. When I click on the link to "get updates for all Microsoft products", I get an error message that the automatic updates are disabled (which is true), so I can't "Microsoft Update".

  For security reasons, I would like to update Office. I googled and found that Microsoft Update is the only official to get updates for Office (which is strange, because SteadyState is also a Microsoft Product, and yet they seem to cancel each other out).

  A Mac 2011 needs a physical DVD to install Windows and need to use the optical drive (CD/DVD). You cannot use an external CD/DVD drive.

  Please burn the ISO on a DVD-R SL and then click the installation option only.

  Hello everyone,

  I hope someone can help me with what I'm trying to do in my lab at home at little cost (laptop running nested esxi). As suggested by the topics, I try to install SSO, Web Client, the inventory Service and vCenter Server on a Win2k12 that will be a domain controller. What I've done so far (in addition to pull my hair):

  1. install and activate Win2k12

  2. install vCenter using Simple installation

  3. change ports for LDAP / SSL to 3899 and 6369 accordingly (instead of 389 year 636)

  4 adding roles DC, DHCP and DNS

  5 try to promote the domain controller in a new forest = FAILURE because the required ports are already in use, in particular send me questions is 88 port used by the kdc vmware service. As soon as I kill / uninstall VMware SSO, I can promote the server to a domain controller, but then I can not connect to vCenter more.

  My Agency (I work for a State gov ' t) is one of these copiers. I want to use the USB interface on a local PC for scanning and printing. I've been unsuccessful with the installation. The TWAIN scanner driver asked me to point to a network device. The State Government cannot afford to install a scanner on the LAN unless it supports Kerberos.

  After you run the webinstaller to the TWAIN driver, I went in Word and went to insert an image from a scanner. The twain driver ran, but asked me to find a device on the network. I don't see a choice for a USB scanner.

  The organization I work for is planning to install a cluster VSA 2 server in a remote site (ESXi 5.1, 5.1 VSA). To reduce costs, they want to have a virtual vCenter on the cluster. I guess that the virtual vCenter also runs the VSA cluster service.

  How the hell can I install this? So far, I have:

  -built 2 5.1 with 1 local datastore ESXi servers each

  -built a vCenter 5.1 on the ESXi server and installed the Manager of VSA on it (which includes the cluster service)

  -joined the two servers ESXi, vCenter inside a data center

  Have a running VM (the vCenter) forced me down the road of installation "Brownfield". Very well... I created 2 vswitches and groups of ports and launched the installation wizard. Everything in the wizard seemed ok and he started to install. He has done many things (clearly, it's a very clever installation program) and after some time he put the host without vCenter in maintenance mode. I watched with my eyebrows getting higher and higher... probably soon he would put the host with vCenter in maintenance mode, what magic he would do to manage loses its vCenter (and the cluster service)?   The VCS must be outside the cluster.  It does not need to be on a server, it can run on windows or Linux systems class office.  Small footprint PCs are available for ~ $ 200.  It has to be in the same subnet as the cluster nodes.  If the VCS was done in a cluster node, you actually lose the tiebreaker vote and if the node hosting the VCS were to fail, you would lose the quorum of the cluster.

  VC running within the cluster will work, but it is complicated on a cluster 2 knots because you may lose the ability to manage the cluster if the node hosting the Victoria Cross were to fail.  You want to have the DB Backup VC and a strategy to recover.
