How to install Windows 7 from this file img or md5?
What should I do with the IMG file?
I downloaded Windows 7 Professional 64 bit in an online store so I could move to 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium (discount student/teacher). I clicked on the launch button installation. He said that he could not run the file img (en_windows_7_professional_win64_x15 - 79946.img). The only other file in the download folder (c:\temp\new) is as follows: X 15 - 79946.img.md5. How to install Windows 7 from this file img or md5?
Thank you

Upgrade paths:
When important changes to your computer, for example an upgrade, it is always recommended that you back up your system before installing a new version of Windows. In your case, you can upgrade to Windows 7 depending on the edition and the architecture of Windows Vista, you have installed. If you are running a 32-bit version of Vista and upgrade to a 64-bit (Windows 7 edition) version, you'll have a pure make install, it is the opposite case.
If you are using Windows Vista Home Basic or Premium consumer editions, you can only upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate. In addition, you can make downgrades, which means, if you are running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition now, you cannot downgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. You perform logical upgrades:
Windows Vista Home Basic > Windows 7 Home Basic, Premium or Ultimate
Windows Vista Edition Home Premium > Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate
Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Professional, enterprise or ultimate edition
Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Enterprise
Windows Vista Ultimate > Windows 7 Ultimate.

How to install Windows 7 from the disc
I need to know how to install the Windows 7 Home premium OEM version from the installation disc. I didn't know when I bought it on EBay, it is a generator system copy. I need to access the custom option to reinstall the full version of Home Premium on the ultimate version, which is not valid because I didn't know he could go only on a single computer. Anyway, if anyone could help me by allowing me to know where to find instructions on how to install Windows 7 Home Premium OEM version from the installation disc, I would be grateful. Or if you can send me the instructions, would be great.

Error - Windows cannot open this file when trying to install Microsoft Gadgets.
Original title: how to install gadget from Microsoft.
I down loaded the gadgets and themes, when I go to install, Windows cannot open this file. If I get them from microsoft, it seems that windows can open.
Hi mikemontgomery,
If you use windows XP, it is not possible to install Microsoft Gadgets on it. Microsoft Gadgets are optimized for Windows Vista and Windows 7 only.
However, you can use your favorite search engine to download third-party gadgets which can serve the purpose.
Note: Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

HP 6200 pro (XY107ET) how to install Windows 7?
I have a problem with a HP 6200 Pro: how to install Windows 7 from Microsoft CDs?
Yes a free recovery of HP, but with an installation CD installation cleaned of all unnecessary software pre-installed.
I tried with my Win 7 CD: it seems to install Win 7 but at the first reset, the machine stays on the black screen (Hit any key to boot from CD).
I tried to install the AHCI drivers saying Win7 to load this driver from a USB, but the result is the same.
I had a problem with a hp siilar 8200 commented: the operating system in this case was Windows XP, but the procedure was not easy...
I solved the problem!
It 'wasn' t a SATA problem, I know that 7 can be installed on almost all new computers without having to install the SATA AHCI drivers, but in this facility it seemed to not work.
I used a disc of Windows 7 without SP1 and it worked everything; the OS disk downloaded from digital river to give driver problems.

Re: Portégé R700 - how to install Windows 7 on new SSD?
Hello!
I want to change my HDD in Toshiba Portege R700 to SSD. How to install Windows 7 on this new SSD? I don't have any Windows installation disc.
Or that it will be possible to move the partition of the old HDD to new SSD (using Acronis, I could move the partition on the new HARD drive)?
I've heard of partition offset and this SSD block should be the same as FAT cluster (the same alignment).
All advice? (I know should I defragment my HARD drive before moving :))
Hey Buddy,
> I do not have any Windows installation disc.
Create the Toshiba recovery disc as mentioned in the manual of the user before you exchange the disc, then you have a Setup disk. The Toshiba recovery disc will restore parameters of the box with all the drivers and tools. It can be used on each disc and how many times you want. After this change the drive and start the Toshiba recovery disc. Follow the instructions on the screen and everything will be installed.
Check this box!

- Win7-HP-Retail-en-US-x86.exe
When you create a new virtual environment, none of the clear options to install the use of these downloads. I don't have a Windows 7 install CD or DVD.
How to install Windows 7 using these files?
I have to imagine it is a common use case, but can't find any solutions. Any help is greatly appreciated.
If you do not have access to a Windows PC, then you can always use the Windows 7 Enterprise 90 - day Trial downloads as an .iso image file, you can create a virtual machine to directly and then treat the other files that you downloaded.

Thank you!Hello @Thufail19,
Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff.
I read your post about installing Windows and he wanted to help!
As long as you have the product key for Windows, you can install via USB or the software disk. Just follow the instructions on the screen. You can check this site to see if your product is compatible with Windows 10: upgrade to Windows 10
If you are not sure about Windows 10, then I recommend installation 8.1 Windows and recovery media creation. You can use this document to help you, if necessary: HP PC - create a recovery Image on disk or save a recovery Image on a Flash drive (Windows 8)
In this way, you can upgrade to Windows 10 If you choose, and if you are not happy with it, you can return to Windows 8. 1. once the operating system is ready to go, you can get the drivers you need for your product at the following site: drivers - HP for laptop - 15-af008ax
Here are a few documents about 10 additional Windows:
HP Notebook PC - upgrade to Windows 10
HP computers - understanding and using Windows 10
HP products - where to find Windows 10 drivers and software for my model?

I would like to know how to install Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 Enterprise from a USB key, please.
I'm not trying to run either on the USB key, I just need to know how to install from a USB key. I tried Multiboot, grub for DOS and other, but they do not seem to work :/
I am going through a book that uses these two to form Microsoft MCITP: Server 2008 Administrator and if I could install these Via USB, this would save my records and a lot of hassle... basically just for convenience, as everything that I need will be on a stick * lol *.
Otherwise, I'll have to use discs instead :)

How to install Windows from the recovery in mSATA SSD partition?
Hi all
I intend to install mSATA SSD on my ThinkPad E420 soon. My laptop comes with the recovery partition in the hard drive. How to install Windows on the SSD drive?
I am familiar with the WIndows installation of optical media, but never to the recovery partition (which I assume where is the installer of Windows).
Thanks in advance.
Best regards

Hello
Sorry, I have no idea on how to install directly from a separate to another drive, but you may want to check this . You will need 1 CD (start) and a 4.7 GB DVD (data) because Lenovo recovery adds all this bloatware in factory settings.
That said, if you want a clean install, use the Windows disk (in case you do not have the same edition, you can download it legally from the net, google it) and your OEM key for activation.

Try installing Windows 7 from XP and keep having this error message before choosing my instalation method, Windows not able to retrieve information about the disks on this computer.
Because the migration from Windows XP to Windows 7 requires a clean install anyway, might as well you are backing up your important files and settings using Windows Easy Transfer and do a custom clean install by booting from the Windows 7 DVD.
