How to install Windows 7 on a new SSD, Dell Windows 7 DVD

I have a new SSD for my workstation Precision 7510.  I need to install windows 7 on it from the DVD provided by Dell.  The DVD has no drivers and so when I try and install, I get a message about "the installation media does contain not all drivers" and the installation will not allow me to continue.  Keep in mind that my new SSD has no partition recovery or in fact any partition.  I have a drivers Cab file and I also have this unpacked on a USB key, but it does not appear as a disk when I "Browse".  Neither the new SSD - t - there no partitions...

Do I need to format the SSD drive first?

Could someone tell me where I can get the drivers and all that forms, they must be in?  In other words, I need to burn it to a DVD, and what would the structure of directory?  Do I have to download all the drivers separately - there are a number of EXEs on the support site, or can I use the Dell Enterprise site CAB file?

I tried various things now since a few days and I'm losing my grip on reality :)

Thanks in advance.

Use this driver:

I would also advise to convert the DVD to USB with USB 3.0 support:

  • Re: Portégé R700 - how to install Windows 7 on new SSD?

    Hello!

I want to change my HDD in Toshiba Portege R700 to SSD. How to install Windows 7 on this new SSD? I don't have any Windows installation disc.

Or that it will be possible to move the partition of the old HDD to new SSD (using Acronis, I could move the partition on the new HARD drive)?

I've heard of partition offset and this SSD block should be the same as FAT cluster (the same alignment).

All advice? (I know should I defragment my HARD drive before moving :))

    Hey Buddy,

    > I do not have any Windows installation disc.
Create the Toshiba recovery disc as mentioned in the manual of the user before you exchange the disc, then you have a Setup disk. The Toshiba recovery disc will restore parameters of the box with all the drivers and tools. It can be used on each disc and how many times you want.

After this change the drive and start the Toshiba recovery disc. Follow the instructions on the screen and everything will be installed.

    Check this box!

  • How to install Windows 7 on the new hard drive?

I changed the old hard drive (500 GB) with a new hard dirve (1 Tera) and now I have two problems:-

    1. how to install Windows 7 on a new hard drive?

    2. my laptop came preinstalled Windows 7 Pro, but all the DVD kit (disk reclaimer Application & discs) + Revocer operating system, which has been provided (by Lenovo) for the laptop is in the Windows 8 Pro. So, how to install Windows 7 Pro, my laptop while all the DVD sets are in Windows 8 Pro?

either way, this is my laptop spec (for reference); -

    * Note *.
I intend to install Windows 7 Pro on my new hard drive using another DVD of Windows 7 (not DVD provided by Lenovo), but how do all Leveno program located in the disk 'Application & recuperator readers' (by example; - Lenovo system health and Diagnostics, Lenovo Power Control, Lenovo Fingerprint Reader) to install this hard drive? (as I told you before, all the DVD kit is at or only for Windows 8 Pro)

I hope someone will help me answer my question,
    Thank you

    I found the solution.

Response to question 1; using a recovery & backup software to clone my current operating system, and then transfer them to my new hard drive.

Response to question 2; Download all drivers and software (all the application that located on the DVD of the kit I have) on the official website of Lenovo.

I don't think that you can install Windows 7 with Boot Camp on El Capitan:

    • A Microsoft Windows installation media or disc image (ISO) containing a 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows 8 or later *.

From: How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support.

Windows 10 is simply too new for your Mac, and Windows 7 is too old. It is quite a difficult situation. If you really need Windows, you would need to get a copy of Windows 8, or put to level to an earlier version of Mac OS X with a version of Boot Camp that works in Windows 7.

    Upgrade paths:
When important changes to your computer, for example an upgrade, it is always recommended that you back up your system before installing a new version of Windows. In your case, you can upgrade to Windows 7 depending on the edition and the architecture of Windows Vista, you have installed. If you are running a 32-bit version of Vista and upgrade to a 64-bit (Windows 7 edition) version, you'll have a pure make install, it is the opposite case.

If you are using Windows Vista Home Basic or Premium consumer editions, you can only upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate. In addition, you can make downgrades, which means, if you are running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition now, you cannot downgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. You perform logical upgrades:

Windows Vista Home Basic > Windows 7 Home Basic, Premium or Ultimate
Windows Vista Edition Home Premium > Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate
Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Professional, enterprise or ultimate edition
Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Enterprise
Windows Vista Ultimate > Windows 7 Ultimate.

  • Adding an SSD as a boot drive - how to install Windows Vista Start

To speed up my new e9105z, I bought a new 80 GB Intel X - 25 M to reduce disk latency and complete the 640GO HARD drive came with my computer.

Drive has been installed successfully, recognized by the PC and formatted with the Windows Vista Disk Manager tool.  When I use the BIOS tool to set the Intel SSD as my boot drive, it says that some files of startup is missing, and I come to on the HARD disk as the startup disk.

Here is where I am/measures taken.  HP of course makes this difficult process:

    (1) used the CD Creator to make a backup.  (Note that the CD - R does not work with the e9105z software.  Do only DVD-R).  (I tried the system HARD disk recovery image.  He simply reinstalled itself on the HARD disk.)

    (2) the value of Vista installed on the SSD via backup DVDs.  System starts beautifully with SSD.  Hooray! I was about to declare mission accomplished, then...

    (3) Reconnected my HDD SATA cable, she failed to be the startup disk.

    (4) I used disk management to reformat the HARD drive to erase its boot sector.  It is always default to the HARD disk, which is more a Vista on it.  Now, I must go into the BIOS and choose the Intel SSD as boot drive whenever I turn on manually.

Any idea on what needs to be done to configure the BIOS to finally settle the SSD as my boot drive?  The backup system image is still on the old hard drive.  Could that be throwing?

The SSD speed is great, but the 6 + hours spent on Vista reinstall, reinstall and reinstall throughout this trial and error process made a royal PITA to do.  It seems that HP didn't consider that whether by adding a second drive that is bootable.

You should be able to select the startup disk in the BIOS.  Restoring image shouldn't be a factor.  If the BIOS settings do not work, I would swap the connectors between the readers.
