  • How do I upgrade to Windows 7 Pro without reinstalling the operating system?

I have a client who is moving from a workgroup to a domain based network.  About half of the computers are Windows 7 Home edition.  I need to upgrade to Pro so I can join the domain.  I was not able to find an easy way to do it since Anytime Upgrade no longer works on Windows 7.  The only time I did, I had to by a free license key and ended up having to completely reinstall the operating system.  So, how can I switch to Win 7 Pro without reinstallation of the operating system or go to Windows 8.

Unfortunately, your only option now would be to buy a full version or upgrade to Windows 7 professional retail license and use the product key with the Express Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Wizard. It is, it's expensive:

Where can I still get Windows 7?

    Full version-

    Microsoft Windows 7 Professional

    Version upgrade-

    Microsoft Windows 7 Professional upgrade

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade to Windows 7 Edition Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional your files, programs and settings retained.

    Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade fails:

If your getting the following: error: Windows Anytime Upgrade failed

Windows Anytime Upgrade fails with the error:

If Anytime Upgrade still does not work, turn off the user account control:

2 change user account control settings

    3. pull the slider to the level as low as possible

    2. make sure that your computer is updated (devices and applications)

    3. disconnect all external devices before installing.

    4. check your hard disk for errors:

    Click Start

Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD

    Click on "Run as Administrator"

At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r

When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

  • How can I disable the Windows XP Pro wifi connection?

is there a port can I close? I am a novice so it. and I had annother LAN connection.in the last hour. by itself. My firewall has already a lam configuration for microsoft then why my comp need another for microsoft tv on the TCP/IP Protocol on a second lan conn. I did not what has done it? How can I turn off the wireless? on Windows XP Pro. This tenth time im asking this question! Tell me there is at least someone other than my abuser! who knows the answer I needTHANKS * address email is removed from the privacy *

    Hello

There are a number of ways...

    1. assuming that it is a laptop, there will be a physical to turn off wireless switch, or a depression function key. I can't say what function key, it will be, it varies from laptop to laptop, but the image on the key must be a gift, if the image is not obvious to you then check your manual. Use it with the "Fn" key as a "toggle switch" to turn on wireless power.

    2. go in network connections configuration panel. Right click on your wireless network connection, and then click on disable.

Your PC is not necessarily to be attacked. It could just be set to automatically connect to networks unsecured wireless. There are a lot of unsecured wireless networks on, leastways in my neighborhood there. If your PC takes up and connects to one, it is not an attack in itself, but it could make your PC open to attack.

  • How to format c drive Windows XP Pro? I'm trying to downgrade to Windows XP Home Edition OEM CD. Request CD will not allow.

    Hello

I have a PC with XP Pro, which I think is not a legitimate copy of the operating system.  So, I am trying to install an original OEM OS from Windows XP Home ed. Paraphasing error message: "Cannot go back," I want to start by reformatting the c drive.  However, I don't know how to do so on Windows and in the 'Run' dialog screen.  I tried to start the configuration of the screen (F8 on reboot) but the CD player says "disabled", and I can't seem to activate.  Any help that works will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
PS: this is my first time using this forum, so I hope I can find the answer if someone answers

I think xp reformatted drive what ever you choose to install on. A good work-around: do you do a fdisk. Set your bios to boot from floppy. Go to the directory and use the format command. That it will scan.

  • How to uninstall IE8 from Windows XP Pro SP3 system?

IE8 does not appear in the list "Add / Remove Programs".  Simple removal of icons is futile.  REGEDIT is impossible - the entries simply re - appear.  Otherwise only by formatting the hard drive or purchase is 3rd party software, there a way to get rid of IE8 and go back to IE7?  I tried to download and install IE7, but it refusses to be installed because IE8 (or even traces of it) are installed on the system.  I could, I suppose, pay $59 for an online chat with a tech from Microsoft somehow buit, I doubt that the expenditure would be worth it - I would get no response or, at best, no answer that works.

I went on his account and tried to change it and it remained has changed in his narrative. So I downloaded a new theme in his account and selected one to use. Then disconnected and logged into my account and tried again and it worked. I can now use the new theme. And it does not change back. Very strange. Don't know if it will stop working if it goes back to the windows default wallpapers. I hope not.

  • How can I change windows xp pro from Portuguese to English

I have an old acer travelmate 6292 and it's in Portuguese, so I would like to convert in English if possible without losing the information about it. I felt I could clean sweep and start again but I would lose everything on it. Is there a way just to change the language. I tried in the language settings, but can not find English. It does not have English on it anywhere.

    Hi themoonshinerunner,

The operating system language cannot be changed. If you perform a clean installation, your system will be coming back to original without change of Linguistics preinstalled settings.

To change the language of the operating system, you may need to purchase the installation media that includes the preferred language.

  • How can I completely remove windows xp pro network connection screen

Several months ago, I bought a used computer. It is a HP Compaq apparently set on foot for the tuition fees online with K12.org. It came with any disks, and I had an awful time trying to get the login screen for the computer network without having to use it. I managed to find and disable the Client for Microsoft networks according to previous research, but the screen would still pop up. I used the forums for info I would need to get the thing to only us force hitting an "OK" button so that we would not enter a password every time. Now the screen, which allows to popup, will not be shown or only appears intermittently during startup and Windows shows "Starting Windows" and everything crashes and hangs without taking me to the "Welcome" screen

This problem started last night. I'd really like to get this thing to use it without worry.

Any help you offer is greatly appreciated.

Hanging to the startup problem is certainly indicative of a larger problem.

In your case, I highly recommend that you completely reinstall Windows on your machine.  Most of the HP/Compaq machines have a recovery partition which will reinstall Windows on condition "as-bought.  To access this, when you start and the first HP or Compaq startup screen appears, you should see at the bottom of the screen a touch that will put you in the recovery mode.  Press this button quickly because you don't have a lot of time.  Follow the prompts to completely wipe your hard drive and reinstall Windows.  (Make sure that you back up all of the necessary files first).  If you do not have this key, and then connect to the HP site and download the manual for your specific computer model.

If you cannot reinstall Windows, then try a system restore to a point in time before that you had your boot-hanging problem.
