How to make a Vista installation CD (I have a product key)

I have a Gateway laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium OEM Act.  It did not come with installation disks and my hard drive failed recently and I had it replaced.

I have the product key but am completely lost in how I can access installation CD.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Laura

The product key you have, Laura... for the OS that was on the hard disk that failed.

And, you do more, right?

It's what they call OEM operating system... this product key goes hand in hand with THIS hard drive, nothing else.

The Setup is, in addition, on this hard disk.

Usable ONLY for this hard-drive/computer.

It's in a RECOVERY partition on this hard disk, and you no longer have this hard drive, right?

You can buy another CD of Installation of operating system.

    Hello

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

    See how best suits you.

    This can help you:

    http://www.heidoc.NET/Joomla/technology-science/Microsoft/57-Windows-Vista-direct-download-links

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery on the drive Partition hard reinstall Windows how much you bought your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Reinstalling Windows Vista, but do not have the product key. How can I find?

    Install Vista on two machines
OK, so one of my friends has Ubunto Linux installed on their system and they want Windows Vista back. I said I would do and use my disks of Vista OS (16 in total).

Now, the fun is that it doesn't have the product key to its original copy of Vista so how I get it back?

It had Vista installed on it before Linux, however based on a virus that Vista should be completely removed and Linux has been installed as an operating system that is temporary until we find Vista once again, since I'm the one with the OS disk, then we re-install it.

So I'll be able to have my copy of Vista on two different computers?

ALSO: Vista came with the computer when he brought it but no recovery disk (as they did with XP) has been provided.

    Hello

1 No. you cannot use your product key on his computer and your computer: Installation is permitted with a license.

And if yours is preinstalled (OEM license), you could not even give it Vista and consider your computer off.

    2. you can't find the product key for the operating systems pre-installed when the product key on the sticker is missing or lost; read this Information:

The way around this is to contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send recovery discs to reinstall the operating system properly. They should send records for a small fee.

While they are in contact with the Manufaxcturer of the computer also ask them if there is a way to reinstall the operating system on a recovery partition on the hard drive of your laptop, allowing them to save money.

Either of these methods of recovery normally does not imply that you have to insert a product key as factory Setup key is automatically used to activate this process.

  • How identify which windows Vista worm was installed with the product key

I have a laptop that someone put windows XP on it. It came factory thew with Windows Vista and has the product key on the bottom of the laptop. But I don't know which Ver of Vista the key code to go with. I want to get the right NVA and install it. Is there a way to know which version of windows Vista to go popular with the product key code.

    Thank you

    Mike

You can't say the product key.  If you use an Installation of Vista genuine disc it will install its own version to know the product key when you are prompted to enter (all versions of the same size of the bit are included on the authentic disc).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Need to activate Vista, but do not have another product key

Well, I m using window vista Home premium, but I don, t ve produst the other key to activity from my window

    * original title - I want activity my window vista Home premium but I n, t have another product key, so I did that shoul? *

    Hi gulabsher,

You don't need a different product key for re - activate Vista or it after a re-installation.  The original supplied with the software should do just fine.  However, it is possible that the automated process will not recognize your original valid product key because he thinks that it is already used (and it is from their point of view - on your own computer).

If the automated process fails, use the manual method to activate Vista using the correct product key which accompanies the software.  Remember, if it's an OEM license, it can only be used on the same computer, on which it was originally installed and if a retail license, it can be installed on any computer capable of managing this version of Vista, but only on one computer at a time.

To activate manually, go to start, search, and type in slui 4 enter.  Enter your country
and click Next.  You will be on a screen with a phone number and a bunch of codes below.  Dial the number and browse automatic guests until you get to a human being.  Have your handy product code because it will be asked.  Explain the situation and it is only installed on this PC.  They should give you a code to enter on this screen to activate Vista (or explain why there is a problem if they do not).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    Hi Aowlad,

If your copy of Vista came pre-installed with your PC, you should contact the manufacturer of your PC for replacement disks. You will find no doubt that they will charge you for the replacement and they won't be cheap.

If you purchased your copy of Vista in a store you will be normal should have the purchase receipt or proof of purchase (I guess a credit card statement would be sufficient, but I'm not sure). • Download Windows XP OS. I need the installation disc. Have the product key number but no disc

I checked on the Microsoft website in the world, it seems that Microsoft has decided to abandon its customers on their own once they declare an "obsolete" product (they need to sell newer versions) So stop the previous support helps to encourage (force) people to migrate to Windows 7

Now more to the point does anyone know how to be a person who has lost the original installation CD, but still holds a legitimate property right with a number of product key of Windows XP to download a copy of the operating system must be able to move back into the original computer?

    I'd appreciate knowledgeable answers.

    Thank you kindly

The key you press on varies considerably according to the computer on which model Dell you have.  Some models do not have this option.  Now, your next logical step would be to download the manual of your Dell computer, that will give you specific instructions for your model on how to reinstall the operating system.

    Go to <> http://www.dell.com >
On the homepage at the bottom under "Support", click on the link "drivers and downloads".
Then click on the link "Support for Home Users" on the next page.
You will be asked to identify your computer model.
After that, click on "Manuals" in the left border, and follow the instructions to download the manual for your computer.  These manuals contain instructions that you need to reinstall Windows.

Call the manufacturer of your computer.

    1. ask a set of recovery disks. The cost is minimal and it is money well spent.
    2. at the same time, ask to speak to a technician. Ask the person to teach you how to access the recovery of the computer partition and how to use it to restore your computer.

None of the foregoing need by using your product key.

    Hello

If Vista is preinstalled contact the Manufacter computer and ask them to send recovery discs; what they should do for a small fee.

And ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to reinstall the operating system to how it was when new.

If you have not deleted this partition (you tell how wipe you the hard drive!) you press F10 or F11, etc at startup to start the process of relocation.

Ask the manufacturer for their combination of button to do this, if it is always an option for you.
