How to open a Powerpoint presentation

I have Windows 7 Home Premium (with versions starter of various programs such as Word and Excel, BUT NOT POWERPOINT!) on my machine.  I received an email that has an attached PowerPoint presentation.  As stated, I don't have PowerPoint on my machine, and I can't open the PowerPoint presentation.  What program can I use/how do to open?  Thank you

I can't open the PowerPoint presentation that was sent to me by e-mail. It keeps saying that it is opening in protection mode but it never actually opens. I tried to go to properties and change some things, but I don't know what to do now because she will not even open. Do you think that it is because we have a different software? Help, please. Hi Dominique,.

    1. You use a webmail like Yahoo Mail, Gmail etc. ? Who is your email provider?
    2. The problem occurs only when you open the Powerpoint file?
    3. Do you have any third-party security program installed on your computer?

If you use the version of the modern Internet Explorer User Interface, then I suggest you try to download an attachment to the desktop version of Internet Explorer 10. If you have the problem with the two versions, then go ahead with the following methods.

First of all, I you suggest to download and save the file and then try to open the attachment.

You can try the following steps if the problem persists.

Method 1: Try to open the file after you disable the Protected Mode.

Try to open the file after you disable the Protected Mode, to do this, follow these steps:

    (a) click on the Tools icon in Internet Explorer.

    (b) click the Security tab, and clear the check box next to the Enable Protected Mode (requires restarting Internet Explorer)

    (c) click apply and then click OK.
    (d) close all open Internet Explorer Windows, and then restart Internet Explorer.

If the problem persists, try the following method.

    Method 2:

Set IE as default browser, then try to open the file.

Follow the steps for the same thing:

    a. from the start, screen type default programs and select the filter Apps.
    b. click default programs in the search results.
    c. click on set your default programs.
    d. Select Internet Explorer from the list.
    e. Select set this program as default and then click OK.

For more information, see the following Microsoft article.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to disconnect a Powerpoint presentation from a Captivate .cp?

I am a new user to Captivate. I am using Captivate 4. I imported a powerpoint presentation into my captivate slides. I'm not sure what I did, but the presentation is connected through my captivate presentations. For example: while practicing, I created four presentations. If I change a .ppt slide in a captivate, changes to slides in the other three. How do I disconnect the PowerPoint of the captive?

Also, I tried to import a new .ppt in a captivate and captivate will only open the old .ppt, even if I'm pointing to the new. Why is this?

    Thank you

You may need to change the link to the PowerPoint file so that it becomes incorporated instead of the bound.

    Here is the help instructions:

Change the link type after importing the presentation

    1. Open the Adobe Captivate project in edit mode and go to a slide that was imported from the PowerPoint presentation.

    2. Click Edit PPT and select find presentation in library. When you select this option, the PowerPoint presentation that contains the slide is highlighted in the library.

    3. In the library panel, click on the presentation in the presentation file.

    4. Do one of the following:

      1. Select Change to linked if you have not linked to (embedded) the presentation during import. Specify a location for the file on your computer connected.

      2. Select Change to Embedded to embed the file related to your project.

  • Imported with breaks at the beginning of slides Powerpoint presentation

I have an imported Powerpoint presentation that created at the beginning of each slide in Captivate 5.5 breaks. I deleted all the objects in the slides can be attributed breaks, but the breaks are still there. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hi SM6601

Whenever you import the PowerPoint presentation in Adobe Captivate, you can choose how advance slides manually or automatically.

If you choose manually, then you must click on each slide in your project to the next slide. However if you choose automatically, then all of the slides will advance autoamtically and play like a movie

So, if you have selected automatically and still you observe that there are some slide/slide a break and you should click on them in order to advance and then follow the steps mentioned below

1 > make note of the total number of slides that to pause

2 > then open your PowerPoint presentation in Captivate and check these slides in PowerPoint and see if there is no animation present on these slides

3 > try to change the animation without animation, save it. Then, the changes will be reflected in Captivate and observe whether you are faced with the same question.

    It may be useful

    Thank you

  • Export to Powerpoint presentation problems

    Hello.

First of all, I must say that I hate PowerPoint presentations. Unfortunately customers like and sometimes I can not avoid.

I have always try to use this workaround consisting of presentation in Indesign and convert PPT in Adobe Acrobat format. It works and saves me a lot of trouble. BUT sometimes I need to change a PPT and this is the problem...

I don't have MS Office for Mac and need to do in Keynote. Works great, no. complains, but a layout of the elements to be a little awkward when I export to PPT ultimately. I do not use any animation, video or audio, just the text and images (I try to keep it's as simple as I can) and some text boxes cross images, imagens get non-aligned and problems of this kind.

Is there a way to avoid this? OR perhaps in PowerPoint PC it works perfectly, the problem is that when you open the PPT in Keynote?

    Thank you

    Luiz

PowerPoint and Keynote have different tools, use different fonts and effects, so a 100% bonus after conversion is often not possible.

You can try Open Office or Office of balance which are freeware applications which will open PowerPoint files without conversion.

  • Can I play a Powerpoint presentation on internet TV?

    Thank you!

With the 2.0 update, we can hope for a drive of Office documents, but in the meantime I use Google Docs (download the .pps there) or use other sites in line/slideshow (Slideshare is one of them) and just go with chrome

  • Problems to project a PowerPoint presentation (2015) for external monitor/screen/projector

I have a problem with PowerPoint presentations (2015) on my MacBook Air (Early 2015). When I go to the slide show-> game start, or when I click on the shortcut at the bottom of my document presentation button, I get the speaker on my mac book but not slideshow on the external display. My background image appears on the external display. If the computer and the monitor are communicating properly. My computer is selected as the control view. When I go to slide show-> Set up show, the external monitor is selected for display. The only way I can find a way show presentation is to select 'Swap poster' view of the presenter, and then go to the external display and select monitors swap to switch back. Another weird thing. If I mouse over the slide in the main presentation while in speaker on my laptop (none other than the background on the external screen image), the presentation gets confused and attempted to show the screen of the speaker AND presentation both on my laptop. Help! PowerPoint presentation is an important part of my work, and it gets really annoying.

Thank you for all the ideas/solutions!

I had the same problem for two days with two different projectors; a NEC and Epson. The only way I could make it work was starting up in 10 Windows via Parallels and the opening presentation. Everything works fine through Windows 10. I hope that Apple will release a fix soon! I don't like to run Windows, any more than I absolutely have to.

  • No video in Powerpoint presentations!

I insert a video into a PowerPoint presentation and the video does not play. I understand you cannot embed a video clip in the presentation. I can preview the videos in the mode of creation before the slide show, but as soon as they go to the slide show, I can hear the audio, but the video does not appear. I use a computer with Vista and I have Office 2007.

Yes, you can " embed " video in PowerPoint.
    Here is the tutorial:
    http://msmvps.com/blogs/tohlz/archive/2007/01/20/embedding-video.aspx

I used the method and it worked.

Open PowerPoint 2007 > Insert tab > object > create from file > navigate to the video file > select > Ok > Ok yet > Animations tab > Custom Animation > right column, under Custom Animation, click Add effect > object Actions > active content > to the starting position, take the option "after the previous.

Try it and see for yourself. Then send it to a friend and ask if the video plays on the computer of the dest.

  • PowerPoint presentation on a web page

I try to add a power point on my site presentation.  I use Dreamweaver for all my editing HTML and web design. I created a password protected page and I downloaded my presentation power point Microsoft sharepoint.  Using the powerpoint Web app I created HTML code and inserted into my Web page.  Initially, I was happy to see that the PowerPoint open correctly using firefox, but when I checked its function in Internet Explore or Chrome I got an error message saying "sorry, something went wrong.  I tried to access this presentation on another PC and Firefox, Internet explorer and chrome all gave the error message.  The only place where this file was successfully opened is on one computer and only with Firefox.  I spent 2 nights speaking with people at Microsoft to try to resolve this and we could not get this to work.  The gentleman who helped me has managed to create an HTML page in its environment and the file open correctly for him.  He asked if it was a problem of Dreamweaver so I came here.  I wonder if it's a Sharpoint authentication problem or would it be a problem of type of HTML file versus PHP? Any help is appreciated.

Powerrpoint is not standard web media.  So the end-user needs Add-ons to see.  Most of the people do not have them installed and cannot be disturbed for a web site.

Any chance you can rebuild or export your Powerpoint presentation to static images?  You can then use JavaScript or jQuery to scroll through slides.
