How to partition Satellite A300 - 21 H with Vista?

Hello
I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 - 21 H with Vista and dual you want to boot with ubuntu linux. At present, there are three partitions, recovery vista 1.5 GB, 150 GB C and 150 GB E (with recovery of HARD drive inside). My ubuntu, I would like to partitions / and / Home (about 150 GB). Should I delete the partition E? I have my recovery DVD's...

What is the best approach, I think that linux is only 4 partitions.

> Should I delete the partition E?
If you created the recovery DVDs, you can remove HDDRecovery and use the second partition for Linux. When you want to install once again just use recovery media created Vista.

If you change the structure of the partition, no doubt, you will not be able to use saved image in this folder.

    Hi all
I use Satellite A300 laptop computer with Vista preinstalled OS.

Due to a virus problem my system got crashed upward... so need to reinstall the OS... but my VISTA key at the bottom of my laptop is not visible now... is there a way to get my product as iam key still in warranty period...
Thanks for the help in advance

    Suneel.

    Hello!

If reinstalling Vista using a Microsoft installation disc you n t need this product key on the underside of the laptop. This key belongs to the preinstalled OEM version and t can be used with a version of Vista that you can buy in a normal store of the computer. This is why you must use the product key that comes with the version of Vista.
OEM versions are available for manufactured goods.

If you don t have a Toshiba Recovery disk you can order directly into a new Toshiba. Akuma already post the link to the workshop.

  • Satellite A300-y00 come with s-video output port?

Satellite a300/y00 come with s-video output port?
Where can buy the cable to this port, or I can buy anywhere or buy from toshiba dealer?

    Hello

This seems to be an Australian series for Toshiba laptop so it was designed for the Australian market. I'm not very well if this series of portable supports the m s-video output port.
The point is that there are different models A300 and the s-video output port has not been installed in all mobile phones of the A300.
I found a manual and it says that the s-video, put it port depends on the model you have purchased.

Usually, it should be placed on the left side between the vents and the output HDMI port. Check it out.
If there is no s-video output port then the laptop does not support it.

How to put in place the Toshiba Satellite A300 infrared remote control?

I got a universal remote/infrared apple should work with all... but how to enable and configure the remote device from Toshiba?
I can not even find the place to activate infrared on my laptop.

Are you sure that what you're saying?

    > I got a universal remote/infrared apple should work with all
Please don't be crazy about me, but you should take it too literally. This all should have the infrared signal receiver (IR port). Please use s operating manuals and check if that port is available on your Satellite A300.

Following the logic of Apple it should also work with Ferro too. ;)

  • Satellite A300-202 - problems with alternating current

    Hello

I bought a Satellite A300-202 a few months ago and I'm having intermittent problems with alternating current.

Sometimes I plug the AC power and it does not start (the led are off and windows says that it is on battery) charge. Other times, he is in charge and suddenly stops.

I suspected it might be the cord broken inside, but it seems to happen also when no one touches it. Usually, when it stops to load, I unplug the wall, wait a few seconds and plug in again, and it starts to load correctly never stop again.

Someone at - it had a similar problem? I wonder if is it possible to just replace the parts to AC power so I won't have to send the laptop for repair.

    Thank you

    Pedro

    Hello

I've never had a problem with my Toshiba Chargers but an old non - Toshiba power adapter died after 6 months of use. After the replacement, it works without any problem.

I think you should check the update of the BIOS as mentioned by Akuma, but for me, it looks more like a problem with the AC adapter.
So if the BIOS update help t doesn't, the adapter should be checked permanently.

  • Satellite P100-286 - how to get the Lan 1 Gbps with Vista speed

Many critics say the latest range of P100 with Vista installed Gigabit Ethernet support.
However, I have a P100-286 card Intel (r) PRO/100, which only seems to support 100 base.
Can anyone suggest a way to get 1 Gbps on this laptop on LAN?

    Hello Allister

Maybe I'm wrong, but in my opinion, you must wait for official Vista drivers, install them and after making this check the mobile functionality of any computer.

  • Satellite A300 - issue Downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hi all...
    IM intending to get rid of my windows Vista SP2 (32 bit) and XP SP3 (32 bit). My laptop is: [Satellite A300 - 1 G 5 | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&com.broadvis ion.session.new = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 1055589].

Now, I studied the topic before posting. When the first time I tried to install XP laptop does not recognize the CD of the OS and I failed. Later, I found a topic suggesting through the BIOS and change the HHD of ACHI to compatibility mode, so I did and it works but I have not installed yet. I have a few question reclassification process.

    1. once I have install the XP, can I put the AHCI mode? gives me a better performance (I really don't know what is ACHI!)
    2. this void my warranty?
    3. If I had a problem, the XP installation failed for some reason any and no OS on my laptop, will still be able to use the recovery DVDs to restore my laptop?
    4. now, the issue of the pilots. Here: [list of drivers Vista | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU] and here: [list of Drivers XP | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU], the question as follows:

    (A) some drivers exist in the list of drivers Vista but does NOT exist in XP driver list; as: DVD player, facial recognition, supervisor password, driver of the SRT, tiles for the mobility and WPS Library Center. What should I do?

    (B) is there a specific order to install drivers? as a driver for a device must exist before a driver to avoid conflicts or overwrite files?

    (C) there are several drivers for the same device, how to choose one? example: the Wireless Lan Driver has several companies (Realtek Semiconductor Corporation, Atheros and Intel); which I will use?

    5. is it true that Vista is better than XP mobility? will (consumption and the heat of power management) XP my laptop do suffer from heat because the laptop is already packed with vista? I mean, they tried what OS fits perfectly on the machine, unless Toshiba push just Vista people because Microsoft needs that... lol

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Hope that my questions are clear, I had something else to ask, its a matter of opinion. are there advantages of Vista on XP? I use my laptop for some games and make some 3Ds MAX, which both require a lot of RAM, Vista eats up to 1 GB of my RAM, so that XP barely fill half a GB of RAM, that is my main concern when I decided to go for XP. I'd like to hear your opinions and experience life...

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

In my opinion there is no great reason to change to Windows XP Home edition OS. Optimize Vista can also run well and stable on your laptop. I was very skeptical on Vista but now after a year of use I can work very well with it. Soon we will again have Win7 and it should work much better than Vista.

My point of view is in a hurry and do not always return to comfortable. Of course, you can do what you want and your decision is quite legitimate. I imagine that you will get better performance under Windows XP Home edition for all activities, that you do every day.

I must also say that you did the right thing to pick up some info before you start the installation of Windows XP Home edition. On this forum, you can find a lot of interesting and useful discussions.

    Back to your questions:
    1 n ° best performance, you'll have under ACHI.

    # 2 you can install what you want.

3 Yes, but only the DVD. F8 option no longer works and the image on the second partition will be useless.

    4
At the drivers, tools and utilities are not the same for Vista new and old WXP. Install available stuff. It is not enough.
B - generally YES. If you need help with this let know us.
C you know what WLAN card is in your laptop. Check Device Manager under Vista.

5 I didn't noticed any difference. Toshiba installs Windows XP Home edition for years and has good experience with this. You can use great Toshiba power saver tool in Windows XP Home edition and optimise energy consumption, cooling method and performance. In Vista, you can do the same.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A300-1GN and driver Vista x 64 support

    Hello

I own this model for 2 days (happy?).
However he seemes logically that if this laptop can support up to 8 GB of RAM (I bought with 4 GB) should have option to install the x 64 operating system.
It seems, but it's not like I know. There is no drivers for x 64 on the official website of Toshiba download MS Systems.
Well, I'm able to understand that you do not want to support Win XP x 64, because this system is aging.

I do not understand how it is possible that every major company supports Vista x 64 to their devices and Toshiba are not.

It seems absurd that you not deliver the proper drivers and I really can't believe that.
I am amazing and I hope that the main reason is that the product I own is a new model and drivers soon appears.

For example, satellite A200 has x 64 support despite the fact that it is a model lower and lower...
I hope that we can hope that our doubts will explain, and Toshiba will be slight not their longer custommers, but bows to our requests.

If I can be wrong to seek the necessary drivers, then want to apologize for my post.
But if I'm wrong I'll be glad to hear the rational response and make sure the drivers coming soon!

    concerning
    Kuba

    Hi Kuba

Satellite A300 is one of the new series of Toshiba laptop on the market right now.
Because most of the people uses the run Vista and Win XP 32 bit OS, drivers for these operating systems must be released first.
I m sure that the driver 64 bit Vista will follow as other as for other series of laptops

There is therefore no reason panic buddy

  • Satellite A300 can not recover vista

I had with vista preinstalled, and now I formatted partition 1, leaving the 2 with the toshiba recovery partition on this subject.

How can I return my original vista walk now?

I tried f12, but it does not work nothing when I click on HARD drive

    Hello

    It's not possible companion
The recovery partition would not help you if you are not able to access this wile, start the laptop computer.
Usually, you should choose F8 and then fix my computer.
This should lead you to the Toshiba HDD Recovery option but if you will not be able to get this option, then you would not be able to recover the laptop using the HARD disk partition.

In this case, you will need to use the recovery disk

If you don t have this disc, then you must order this reading some threads here in the forum.

  • Satellite P200-13F slow with Vista installed

Wow, after 2 weeks of waiting we had the newest Satellite P200-13F... fantastic... Well, is more then a couple of months... then the problems started to irritate. At the same time, we moved to another country... great, but the laptop is still away from work properly...

In the computer store they told me laughingly that memory of 1 MB is really stupid. Everyone knows that Vista works well on 1 MB.

So pass it... Yes, of course, to the place where? hahaha, only 1 MB more... a joke... But, we must try something... I m still crying... it doesn t do anything better then before...
Today, Toshiba cares not less. I mean, they got the money and we have a laptop... or something that should work as it...
Any laptop with Vista a minimum 2 MB and an upgrade to 4 MB...

Logic that so many people complain about Vista. It will not work with 1 or 2 MB...

No, you paid for something, which is stupid. We have to pay again to let XP is installed. Is option... fantastic, thank you very much, Mr toshiba...

Is knowing how far I came up with this thing... This Toshiba... is there someone who knows how to fix this laptop, let me know...
Our satellite is the laptop slower I have ever seen...

    Hello

I have a Satellite P200 and it s great running; with Vista and Windows XP.

First you misunderstood something; the laptop can be upgraded to 2 GB upwards and not to 2 MB ;) there is a big difference.

Secondly the Vista works well also with 2 GB of RAM.

I think you don t know much about computers because performance notebook doesn't depend only on the value of the RAM, but more CPU, GPU and Chipset installed!

I think that your suggestion on nits P200 means that Notepad starts slowly, etc.
In my opinion that you n t know that laptop computers are preinstalled with different applications that are run in the context of the OS and need material resources.

These background processes are created by the software that controls the functions of the laptop as FN key, command buttons, touchpad, Toshiba Flashcards, internal camera, etc... etc.

Also, the pre-installed Norton Antivirus can slow performance.
I used the Symantec Norton Antivirus too and was not satisfied with the performance and so I deleted and replaced by the free tool called Antivir.
My laptop is now faster and better managed, and better, I also used CCleaner to clean the operating system and the registry and removed unnecessary programs that slow down performance.

Then maybe you should do that too and you will see that your P200 is a lot faster than you think!

Have a boyfriend of the beautiful day :)

  • Re: Satellite U400-11 q with Vista has new HARD drive but no recovery disk

    Hello

Before starting a very important message: I do not usually work with pc... :-) At my work we have an IT Department for our PC :-))

However, now I have to work privately with a PC / laptop and I need help: I'm sitting in front of a Toshiba Satellite U400-11 q with a HARD drive completely newly formatted and unfortunately WITHOUT recovery CD or DVD!

So far I managed to format the new HARD drive and put a Windows Vista Home Basic (OEM software) from my old pc on this notebook. However, nothing works again (I want to get into the Internet, etc.).

So, I now have to put on all the involved drivers as well as drivers TOSHIBA original, right?

How can I do this? What drivers to I need? Do I have to download all the drivers concerned (total 113) one by one on the Web from Toshiba site?

ANY help is appreciated as I see myself spend all night in front of the PC...

    Thank you
    M

For the benefit of mobile work, you need to install all the necessary drivers and tools and utilities.
Each of them you can find on Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Any substance must be installed according to installation order. Here it is:
    Windows Vista SP1
    Chipset Intel module
    Intel Robson (Intel iMSM Driver)
    Intel Crestline-GM / UMA Driver
    or
    AMD M82XT /M86 driver
    Audio driver Conexant CX20561
    Driver LAN Marvell 8040/8055
    Synaptics Touch Pad Driver
    Conexant Modem driver
    Wireless LAN driver
    Chicony camera software
Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba
    CIR Port driver
    TOSHIBA Value Added Package
    TOSHIBA hardware configuration utility
    TOSHIBA supervisor password
    TOSHIBA SD Memory utilities
    AuthenTec AES1610 fingerprint utility
    TOSHIBA ConfigFree
    TOSHIBA Assist
    TOSHIBA Speech System
    CD/DVD Drive Acoustic Silencer
    Toshiba HDD Protection
    TOSHIBA face recognition
    TOSHIBA TRS driver
    Broadcom V2.14.4.0
    HDMI Control Manager
    ProtonPack for Vista

Install all the stuff on this list. If there is something missing just continue with the next.

By the way: this machine works perfectly with Win7 32-bit so I highly recommend you to use Win7 instead of Vista.

  • Satellite A300 - need drivers for Vista 64 bit

    Hi all

I have the satellite A300 (PSAGOS - 03401C), I did a fresh install of Vista 64-bit, but unable to find the drivers for the device. Research on Toshiba driver support has not been successful.

    Any help appreciated. Thank you

    Hi married,

Satellite A300 PSAG0S unknown to me, but on the European page, I created a similar model, PSAG0E. But the problem is that there is no drivers for Vista 64-bit, so I tried a Windows 7 64 bit and here I could found the more pilots. Normally, Windows 7 drivers should also work, they are compatible to Windows Vista downgrade.

  • Satellite A100 - 376 PSAARE with Vista: PC Diagnostic displays a white screen

Model: PSAARE-03501CTP (Satellite A100-376 with Vista Home Premium)

PC diagnosis (ver 4.00.00) tests worked well even after the update for Value Added Package 1.0.25. This week, I reinstalled the system with the recovery CD and later updated the PPV of the original 1.0.10 for updating version 1.0.25 just as I did before.

Now the 'Basic Information' tab always displays information as before but the "Diagnostic Tool" tab is empty and nothing can be put to the test.

I saw another forum of discussion of Toshiba on this same problem without solution. I really expect to have a different answer to "reinstall the system with the recovery CD!

    Thank you

    Fernando

    Hello

in this case, you unfortunately wait until toshiba releases a new PPV for this computer because there are times that a software update can have benefits and errors. It s all the same with as developers of software to the Japan and who is not only with toshiba.

On the other side: why do you need the tool of "diagnosis"? I have 5 machines from toshiba, one of them has more than 7 years and I´d never used this tool.
I use tools well real as the "Ultimate Boot CD" or "UBCD4Win" which have even better tools and software to check your hardware on errors. And they are free. :)

    See you soon

  • Satellite A300 - after installing the Vista SP1 no longer start

    Hello

I brought my Satellite A300 friends tonight to upgrade Vista to Windows 7.

The disc of Windows 7 told me before he could upgrade the Vista would need a service pack 1, so I started to install the service pack and when he went to restart mode then it spent in step 2 restart and all of a sudden the screen went black and a load of a number appeared and it goes no further the system frozed.

Problem now is that Windows does not start and it will not work in safe mode and I'm afraid that all my friends photo and files are now gone.

    I'm empty!

    Can anyone help?

    Hello

Now, what happens if you try to start Windows? You get an error message or something else?

Normally before you install something like a Service Pack or Windows 7 you must back up all the files first and this must be done at any time normally ;)
I think you can only recover data if you put the HARD drive into an external HARD drive enclosure. Then, you can save the data on another computer.

After that, you can do a clean Windows 7 or alternative facility. install Vista using Toshiba recovery disc, then Windows 7.

    Welcome them
