  • How do I partition my drive so I can create a full backup of my computer?

    My hard drive with windows 7 appears in disk management with 3 partitions. One is the system partition labeled C: healthy (System, boot, pagefile, Active, Crash Dump, primary Partition) and the other 2 say-healthy (recovery Partition) 1.46 GB and healthy (Primary Partition) 6.36 GB. The other 2 are shown as 100% free. Can I remove these or at least the other primary partition so I can use the space? I want to create a partition where I can make a full backup of my computer so I can restore to the current state.  Any help on how to do this? I'm not at all familiar with the help of disk management. I guess I can delete the system partition, and then the 6.36 GB will be automatically added to the first primary partition, or it would show as unallocated, then I have to shrink the first primary partition and merge sort the free space of the 2 partitions to create 1 partition backup. But I have never done this so I don't know exactly what to do.

    I also have an external hard drive 2 TB USB with 1 primary partition. I would like to back up on that as well (I guess I should also create a separate partition for this.). Ideally, I would like to have my computer Setup, so when it starts up I have the ability to restore. And I guess just that this would require backup on a separate partition.

    I have two Windows 7 with the backup and restoration of facilities as well as Acronis True Image Home 2011.

    Any advice much appreciated

    Thanks, Mike

    Save your files or your partitions in a free partition on the internal drive is a waste of time. Doing so offers no protection against the most common such as woes

    • Flight
    • Water damage or fire
    • Physical damage (dropping out of the machine)
    • Hard drive crash
    • File system corruption (e.g. damaged partition table)
    • User error (for example of formatted the wrong partition)

    A decent backup plan is based on the backup media being kept well away from the PC for most of the time.

    Note also that expand them or shrink partitions is equivalent to open heart surgery. Make sure you have your important stuff saved beforehand. You should also check if the saved controls is actually readable.

  • RMAN how to handle simple full backups every day with the archivelogs

    Hello

    My use of Oracle DB is about 200 GB on a file system 1 TB from a NetApp file server. (i.e. 20% currently use)

    I'm not so attracted to use the RMAN catalog for the love of simplicity.

    Also, I have an affinity to run a full backup "Instant NetApp" every day, without running all the incremental backups.

    My snapshots of NetApp have a framework for the retention of 7 days.

    I think to implement a RMAN full backup script that includes the following to run every night:

    Run {}

    delete archivelog all;                    (to clean up the archive logs that are accumulated for each day)

    backup database;                          (for a full backup every night)

    }

    This will be a good idea?

    Will this coverage to back up all that I could restore if there is a problem.

    Part of the great mystery for me is on the restoration of the data that is generated during the execution of the "backup database" command in the RMAN.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    If you perform the backup in this order, you will get in big trouble.

    It is preferable to run the backup as follows:

    (1) the following parameters, you have to do only once:

    configure backup optimization

    Configure retention policy to recovery of 7-day window;

    Configure controlfile autobackup on;

    (2) backup every day:

    backup database more entered archivelog delete;

    delete noprompt obsolete;

    unrecoverable report;

    RMAN automatically takes care of cleaning the old backups<7 days="" and="" saved="">

  • How to do a full backup of the system in a system sbrio

    I want to be able to back up a complete system (sbrio) and a windows PC.  Acronis Echo workstation allows us to carry out the backup of the computer, but if I understand that this will not work on the RT system.

    He NEITHER has a tool that allows a snapshot of a system (sbrio) be saved and then deployed on a same sbrio to allow 100% compatibility between these 2 units.

    I think that we have seen this in the past, someone could help me with this.

    Download the desktop CC app, connect to your Aperture controls session, download apps & start working.

    That's all. Assuming that you are on the CC program.

    If you are on the old CC version, and have a drive for example, just do what you did before... or download from ProTools & give your activation number on the other machine.

  • How to restore a full backup of the Server 2008 system that has been stored on a BitLocker Drive encrypted?

    I have a requirement to encrypt my server for transport off-site backups, so I'll try to store my backups to an external drive that is encrypted for BitLocker.  I am doing a test restore to a new drive to simulate a full system recovery, but I'm unable to unlock the drive encrypted with the backup of the prompt under system recovery options.

    I have confirmed that I can unlock the drive from a command inside the original Windows installation prompt using manage - bde.wsf and the recoverypassword, but the same command does not work from the command prompt during the recovery process (started from the installation DVD).  There is no error code, a single message that the recovery key did not work and administrator privileges may be required.

    When you try the same command from another server when connected to that drive, I got an error that can be informative, code 0 x 80310037, implying that the recovery key may not because of the FIPS compatible algorithms that are needed.

    I'm looking for something that isn't possible trying to store the complete system on a BitLocker encypted disk backups?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

  • How to use the full Windows Vista Edition backup utility to create a backup of the computer of my computer on a network drive?

    I can read and write in my Win7 computer I'm currently configured to run any server at home, I can watch TV, store files and folders individual, to create, remove, in other words all I can do on this machine, I can do. 3. to disks are mapped to this machine and show as readers y and z.

    I had no problem establishing actions and everything seems to work.

    However, when I try to do a full backup of a computer with network drives they don't show in the drive selection drop-down list in the center of complete backup of Windows. Arises in each drive on this machine, not the target readers when they are listed in my computer and do show and reconnect when I reboot the machines.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thank you:

    Don

    Hi Don,

    You can follow these methods & check if it helps.

    Method 1

    You can cancel the drive mapping & check if readers appear in the Windows complete PC Backup Center.

    Disconnect your computer from a network or network drive

    Reference: back up your programs, files and settings of the system,

    Method 2

    In addition, you can also follow the suggestion of TexRyker on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 18:07 from this link.

  • When doing a full backup computer falls down and must be closed

    Hello

    When doing a full backup of the computer falls down and must be closed using the power switch, it is very good when you make a partial backup.
    I'm trying to backup to an external hard drive via a usb connection.

    The hard drive is formatted in NTFS
    Someone has any ideas
    Fred

    Hello

    I will try to resume that you issue.
    The HARD disk has several partitions (I guess 2 partitions)
    The backup procedure works fine if you safe data only from single partition, but it crashes if you try to create a backup of all partitions of set. Am I wrong?

    My first question; What backup utility do you use?
    Are you sure that this backup tool supports the backup of the two partitions at the same time?

    I put t know if it will help but a similar problem happened to me.
    I've used Norton ghost and I wasn't able to create a backup of a partition.

    The procedure began, but after several minutes, the screen goes white and the notebook frisottés.
    I ran the scandisk, chkdsk and I defragment the whole HARD drive.

    This helped!

  • When vDR to perform full backups?

    I'll set up an installation of vDR test as a proof of concept, and contrary to read the documentation, it appeared on me... when vDR do full backups?  I know that the first virtual computer backup is a complete and incremental after that.  But when the following is executed?  I did some Google'ing and looking through the documentation, but have not yet found an answer.

    Currently I ave the configuration of the backup task to keep 6 daily backups every 4 weeks and 1 month.  When the first full backup has expired, another take?  Also, is it possible to force a full backup on one computer virtual other than to create a new backup job?

    My understanding is that VDR still to complete and never traditional backups "extra." However, given that the backup data store uses a deduplication technology each "Full" backup will only grow with the blocks changed since the last backup.

    If you have been creating full backups, the backup only that you keep is the last.
