How to recognize a windows exe file is secure.

Hi I am very new to the development of windows and very much appreciate your advice. I have create a C++ windows service to run on the servers. Each time I try to install the service, such as service.exe - install , ask at the password prompt. Is it possible to make windows remember the exe file is safe after getting the password of the user for the first time and won't ask for a password when you next run. The reason is, this service will attempt to free upgrade & install in the future with remote control, after the first installation.  For additional information, the service runs on windows server 2000, 2003, 2008, 2012. Thank you very much

You'd better ask in MSDN

I think you will find that you can't do what you want.

If the file is always displayed in the Download Manager window, then you can use open folder on the shortcut menu. If this entry is grayed out then the file is no longer at this location to download. Possible causes are cleaning software or anti-virus that deleted the file.

  • How to clear the Windows.edb file in Windows 8

DISPLAY TO THE CLIENT ACCOUNT *.

The customer has a PC under Windows 8, and he wondered how to remove the Windows.edb file. He recorded 60 GB of information. Is it possible to have the option of Windows search and have this file shrunk down to the size? Is it possible to empty this folder? Anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this problem?

    Please respond with more information.

Thank you very much for the help!

I just had this problem myself, with a clue consuming 107/278 GiB!

    Here's the trick:
    (1) search for "Indexing Options" (under "settings"). Open it.
    (2) search for 'services' (or run "services.msc") and find "Windows Search". Stop the service.
    (3) remove the Windows.edb file
    4) click on "Change" in the Panel "Indexing Options" already open, then click on "Erase and rebuild" for the index. You can also specify another drive to store the index on.
    Hope that helps.

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

If you get a message stating that the file NTLDR is missing, it is unlikely that the bcupdate.exe file will solve the problem, but you can download it from my SkyDrive if you want.  I've never used it to fix anything and if you see this message, it's probably not your problem.

I downloaded a copy of XP Pro SP3 file you need on my SkyDrive (everyone has a SkyDrive for file sharing).

Here is the link to my SkyDrive and you can get the file you need here:
    http://CID-6a7e789cab1d6f39.SkyDrive.live.com/redir.aspx?RESID=6A7E789CAB1D6F39! 311

When you see the files available for download, you will not see the extension of file (.exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, etc), but when download you them they will have the right extension.

When you download the file (especially if you use Internet Explorer), when you get a chance to save the file, it cannot save the file with an extension (for example, .exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys) then you will need to add the extension appropriate to the file when you download the file before you save it.

You can download the file without the extension, and then rename the file to add the appropriate extension.  You do not want to use a file called rundll32 when the name of the file should really be called rundll32.exe (if the downloaded file has no extension, you will need to change the name of the file to add the appropriate extension to make it work

You have to put the downloaded files in the correct folders on your system.

  • What is the ldiag file in Windows 7? How can I stop Windows write files in this folder?

Can someone tell me what is the ldiag file in Windows 7?

Somehow, Windows creates files and writes to this file. It keeps then write files until the entire hard drive is full. In other words, there is no place to save a restore point and no place to open Outlook, etc.

When this has happened in the past, I had to contact the Microsoft response service and a level 2 technician to erase files. They said, the problem has been "fixed", but he continues to be...

Do you know what "program" in Windows write files to this folder? I think it's a kind of diagnostic file. I tried the search "help" and the community and have not found anything to answer.

Well, I hope that he is an expert in the community who can advise me on this. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for your kindness in answering this question. I worked with technician level 2 Microsoft Office of response on the issue.

I see that the files are part of the Lenovo system. Somehow, the Lenovo system analysis - triggered by something unknown to me--and wrote a text of 25 to 30 Gigabyte file!  I've identified it as a program of Lenovo, the write file and the program triggered by some unknown parameter. Then, I took the step to stop this program, Lenovo to run and then remove the text files.

The steps you suggested are 'typical' first response / suggestions that you could do in that first level. However, in this case that they had nothing to do with the real problem.

I often do a disk cleanup. This program is not clean these text files of the diagnosis of Lenovo.

I start the computer in safe mode to diagnose problems. Yet once, just for the record, being in safe mode has nothing to do with the question of the Lenovo running program.

No, there is no error message other than a message about 'disk full '. I ran a small program to see the size of the folder and was able to quickly identify the issue of file ldiag containing two text files, each about 25 gigabytes.

Once again, thank you for your suggestions, but they were just basic, 'typical' suggestions and really had nothing to do with this specific problem. However, you have correctly identified the ldiag as being a file of Lenovo. Once that technology Tier 2 response office and found out that we were able to "solve" the problem.

I'll keep the links you sent for reference.

Thank you for taking the time to answer.

  • Windows does not recognize the executable .exe files

On two of the three user accounts, when I click on an executable or shortcut to one (even Notepad or other), I get a dialog popup asking what program I want to use to open this - as if an extension is not recognized. (Other extensions are recognized - click on a .txt file, it will open it in Notepad.) It is both my children login accounts.

My account login works fine. Is there nothing actually wrong with the executibles - if I use my login and W. Explorer allows to activate a .exe or the shortcut of my son's Office, it works fine. My account was original one fixed upward with the purchase of computer, the other two were created after (but more than a year ago and well until recently).

Possible of information: I don't know the exact timeline, but I heard of this problem at the same time, that we picked up a Trojan horse in this account, called "XP Total Security". Since cleaned up this infection using a trial version of an application of registry cleaning, but the problem existed before cleaning - don't know if before the Trojan infection or not.

New accounts work fine - at least so far. If I create a new user account, so far all executibles work very well.

No idea what might have caused it, and how it can be fixed?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have the game of four discs of product recovery CD, but do not want to format and start again if I don't have to.

My question is how to get to the Windows installation, so I can do a repair, rather than a recovery format, and can I use the product recovery CD or original file on drive c: to re - install and repair a missing or damaged file?

I have an IBM ThinkPad G40, GHz Type 2384, model 33U, which = Nr 2384 - 33U, in July 2003 with a Pentium 4, 2.4, with 1.2 GB of RAM.  It's a great laptop and I would nurse it back to health.  I recently did a backup, so I can reformat and start over, if I have to.

Tips on how to get to the Windows installation and attempt a repair would be much appreciated.  Thank you, Bruce Taylor

    Hi BaTaylorEsq,

You need Win XP installation disk to repair the corrupted files, and no you can't use discs of recovery or any other original files on your C: drive to repair a missing or damaged file.

I have repaired several times Win XP with installation disc, it is very simple. I suggest you do some reading from instance however link:- http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm#RI

  • Exe files on windows usually open or cannot be found

Laptop which works normally, however, windows .exe files will not open or cannot be found and I'm unable to install any software. What should I do?

    Hi DarrylHills,

You can try the following steps and check.

    Step 1:

You can try to run a SFC scan to check all corrupted files.

You can read the following article to launch the SFC scan:

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    Step 2:

You can check out the following link and try to download the Microsoft Safety Scanner and perform a full scan on your computer and check.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: When you perform the analysis, there are risks of data loss you can take a backup of important data before performing analysis.

  • Windows.exe gobbling up memory and CPU often CPU ranges between 50 and 100%.

    Hello

My PC recently turned very, very slowly and often unresponsive.  When I bring up the Task Manager, on the processes tab, I see that Windows.exe uses as much as 1 million K of memory and often the CPU ranges between 50 and 100%.  What is happening while no application works.  I have also noticed that in the Task Manager, there are two processes with the name of the image of windows.exe and consuming all the power and memory has no user name.  When I try to end the process on this one it still won't let me and a message appears saying that I don't have permission to do this, or something to that effect.  I am however able to stop other processes including the windows.exe with my username process.  The cases where it allows me to stop the process, performance improves, but given a little time, again with nothing running, it starts again. Thinking it was a virus, I missed the live update on Norton and performed a full scan, but nothing found.   I also tried Windows defender, but in vain.  Any help on this problem is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
