  Microsoft and Toshiba updates are two different things.
  Toshiba drivers are offered by Toshiba, and these drivers are tested by Toshiba. Toshiba has developed a small tool called TEMPRO. This tool runs in the background and look for information on available updates.
  All updates of drivers, tools and utilities does not update automatically. It can be done by the owner of the laptop. TEMPRO just pick up info on the net and to inform the owner of the laptop.

  Microsoft updates are probably known to you. These updates are Microsoft and Toshiba has no influence on this.
  When you check the list of available updates may have included updates to the WLAN/LAN card, driver of the touchpad and device ACPI Toshiba x 64. This is defined as optional updates and cannot be updated.

  To be honest you should not update at all. For hardware use drivers provided by Toshiba only.

The wisdom is that, if this is your choice, you see if you will need the device drivers and get those of the web site of the manufacturer.

  Once you have the disks, install in the usual way.

  I don't see a clear answer to this question online. I want to protect a folder on my external hard drive which has some personal data. I have to protect the whole disc, just a folder + subfolders. I see that the 3rd party software programs box password protect a folder, but when uninstall you them you may lose the ability to access again if you aren't careful, and they aren't full evidence for someone who is computer savvy and I really want to see this data.

  I watched a video on here EFS: EFS but it is a senseless video and provided no help to understand how it works. I created a folder to the test and does what it says.   If you enable encryption by file (or folder) with this option, which cannot be done because it is encrypted specifically with a hash of your account.  It also means that even if a system admin force - reset your password, the hash is invalidated and files that have been encrypted in this way will be unavailable.

  My work computer is in a domain.  I am running Windows XP Pro SP3.  Due to the large size of the 'My pictures' folder I redirected it to on of my local readers rather than let him lie on our server (Windows 2003 SBS).  I also redirected "My music" folder on a local drive and the 'My Favorites' folder on the server where the "My Documents" folder is also.  It works very well without any problem, most of the time.  In some way, some, but not all, windows updates will change the location of the "My pictures" folder on the server.  When this happens, I know that as soon as I login after the reboot because it will take about an hour before the computer can be used.  The reason for this is that the folder is moved (not copied) on the server with a connection to ethernet 100 base-T.  My another stay of redirected folders where they are supposed to be, just the 'My pictures' folder is moved.  I tried to find all the registry entries that have to do with the location of this folder and found only two, those who originally, I changed to redirect the folder in the first place.  This has happened for the 4th time, when I greeted Windows Update to install the latest updates last night (13/02/13).  It becomes very boring and time would trust because I have to put the folder on the local drive and reset the folder redirection and the whole process takes about an hour, plus time lost after reboot.  Help please.
