I tried to get a product key for ASUS because I have the right to it if I bought this laptop brand new with windows 8, I think. If I had to put a HARD drive with windows on it 8 in there, I guess that it would recognize the product key to this topic because you can't access the product key even if you have a HARD disk with windows 8 it. If so how do I get windows 8 on a HARD drive? The laptop is not a USB key, I am very sad/confused and need this laptop for school. Can anyone help?

According to Microsoft, the key to the motherboard does not recognize the copy of the retail Windows 8.0/8.1 and you will need to use the phone activation to activate your copy of Windows.
