How to reinstall vista on the recovery drive D?
About 2 years, a Sunday, my hard drive crashed and I was totally novice in time (as much as now, more I forgot the documentation provided with it, my "old" laptop Gateway) so I called a computer repair place listed on Craigslist (no classes please) and said that they could fix and I should just bring him. Well, I need desperately so I took ("in" is a private home). Hours later, I got a call that it has been fixed. They did replace some hardware and the computer was working again, but they gave me the 'good news' that he had thrown an installation of Windows 7 free of charge. I wasn't happy, but as I quickly bought a new computer with Windows 7 on it anyway, I learned to love it. With a new laptop, I don't use it much anyway.
A hinge fails to my 'new' HP laptop and a COMPUTER technician who is a friend is fixing to me. In the meantime, I have to use this "old" laptop. He began to act up and I did a system restore, which did not help. I have recently met a disc of the operating system for this 'old' computer and it's a good thing because little time after the system restore, I received continuous messages of MSE I wasn't "authentic" Windows It got really teed OFF... some good news-free-install, right? I certainly didn't use software counterfeit... the only inconvenience factor is more than enough for me to come back on the right path.
I decided to re - install my real honest to-God-Vista from the bridge of the operating system disk included. I never had anything like the front and of course, when I was asked where to put the installation, I wasn't sure and so I put it on the C drive, thinking (just think) that things could spill over into the D recovery drive. He does something like that.
I tried to go through the steps I used to re - install Vista but it doesn't seem to want to pay attention from now to the OS disk when I use F10 at startup. What can I do to get this on the recovery disk? I think it should be there.
I've already replaced all sorts of files, etc. from the backup I made before I did the re-install, if that makes a difference any.
Please give me some instructions to get my OS on my D recovery drive files. Thank you.
Hello
You can't put it on the recovery disk (Partition); end of the story.
Your recovery Partition on your hard drive was photographed during the production of your computer by the manufacturer.
If it is destroyed, removed, etc., damaged you cannot replace / reinstall or repair.
You have the DVD anyway.
See you soon.

Hello
Hmm, looks like the laptop cannot restore the operating system from the recovery image
To be honest I'm not very well why this error pops up but eventually it s m related to the new HARD drive installation.Perhaps, you can format the HARD drive again using a clean Microsoft Windows CD (Win XP, etc.).
Boot from the CD of Win and format the HARD drive.
Then go to the recovery disk, boot from the recovery disc and try reinstalling the operating systemMaybe it would work

How to reinstall Vista with the hidden partition or CD without losing the Linux partitions
Hello
I am nicolas and I made a mistake (I admit it): I encrypted my partition vista using Linux by mistake.
but these things happen.
I'm trying to reinstall vista usign the partition which is available on my T61p or via CD set I got Lenovo.
but I am sure others by default will erase my linux installation.

The hard drive failed on my HP laptop. I bought a new hard drive (not HP) and loaded the HP recovery disks, but a screen will appear that says it is not compatible. Can I use this new hard drive, or should I buy a hard drive for HP?
I looked at a few tech forums and from what I can tell, HP crashes their system you can't use hard disks of third parties. To make a third hard drive to work (depending on the online forums), you will need to bring a technician certified in HP in order to run a utility of DMI (?) and "tattoo" the hard drive for HP use (estimated at close to $45).I can't find a technician certified in HP in my area and Geek Squad said that they can do it more... my laptop is now an expensive paper weight, or there at - it another option (short of spending hundreds of dollars on the purchase of a new Vista + MS Office license)?Hello
posters have reported problems with the use of a replacement hard drive not HP, etc.
as you say you know the answer to your problem buy a new hard drive from HP and then reinstall using their recovery disks
If you have problems with the HP recovery process, contact the manufacturer
It's their recovery process not microsofts

How to reinstall Vista without the disc?
How do I clean reinstall vista without cd, I have the code thouh.
Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.
They will tell you how to do this.
Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
How to install Vista from the recovery disk without defining partitions?
Hello
I have my recovery disk and I have installed a new 320 gb HHD.
When I installed the recovery disc, it re done the 160 GB partitions in each (2 partitions more the 1 recovery partition)...But I want to dual boot with XP pro because of software problems and I prefer it sometimes...
I redid my scores, 1 - 51 GB for XP pro(32bit), 2nd - 51 GB for vista (32 gb) and the 3rd - 210 gb is for storageHow to install with Toshiba vista o/s and stuff that comes with it on the recovery disc, immediately to the 2nd partition without affecting how I configure the hard drive...
I have about 100 GB of photos, music, and cam vids on storage, with nowhere to put them, so I can't risk, because some are copy only (so it might be a good idea to let me know how I save this s on my storage spread in the DVD please)
If I can t, then can some1 please tell me how to get my Toshiba OEM vista off this recovery disk or a link for me?
Hope all this makes sense lol... Thank you
ShaneIf you have so much important material best save is to buy an external HARD drive and copy all this stuff here. I recommend buying the small 2.5 external HDD and when necessary, you can take with you and connect to any computer, if you want to view or copy this file. External hard discs connected to other computers with a supplied USB cable.
Return to your partitions.
When you use the original Toshiba DVD facilities, you will have 3 partitions.
WinRE - partition and it belongs to the Vista operating system. This partition is not visible, and this isn't some sort of Toshiba recovery partition
-C for Vista partition
Or-d/E to the DATA in the partition. This partition is recorded recovery image in the folder called HDDRecovery
I don't know what model of laptop you have, but this configuration is on all new Toshiba laptops shipped WITHOUT recovery media.Using Toshiba recovery media, you will be able to get exactly mentioned structure of the partitions. Support to recovery facilities using you WILL NOT be able to install Vista on the second partition.
So if you want to have the dual boot with Windows XP Home edition, you can do following:
-At first, you are going to install Vista with support of recovery and on the second partition, you are going to install your version of Windows XP Home edition
-At first you will be installing WXP and then you can install Vista on the second partition, but you must use the Microsoft facilities drive. Recovery media can not be used.That's all I can say from my experience with such things.
Satellite Pro L300 - what I can reinstall Vista with the recovery disk?
And I have another drive on my computer for recovery Partition so I can use my recovery CD to reinstall Windows vista if I want once I got rid of him and would it erase my win7 disk or remove the duel boot?My specs are:
Hard drive 160 GB> if I delete Windows Vista can I reinstall Windows Vista with my recovery CD?
You can use the recovery disk to reinstall Vista on your laptop but as Luke mentioned, the recovery disk would format the whole HARD drive. It would erase all partitions on the HARD drive and you will lose also the installed Win 7! -
Hello:
If you are in a hurry and want to install W7 before your recovery disks are shipped to you, you can download the version of windows 7, which has been installed on your PC and is indicated on the COA Microsoft sticker on the bottom of your PC. For example, if windows 7 Pro came with your laptop and is indicated on your COA sticker, you can download the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of windows 7 Pro in language comes with your PC, and use the 25-character product key on your COA to activate the software.
You must use the language of the operating system that comes originally installed on the PC or the product key will not work.
You will need a program capable of burning ISO to DVD files, burning, so that the DVD is bootable DVD.
Then just go to the support for your laptop and driver page to download and install the drivers you need.
Link to all versions of W7. These are real files to Microsoft.
How to delete files on the recovery disk?
I'm running out of space on my recovery disk. I noticed that the compress and the index of the boxes are both checked.
I would like to know what to do and how to delete files on the recovery drive.Thank you for your help.
It is very unwise to delete these files, because it is your ONLY way to recover your PC in the event of catastrophic problem with the operating system that cannot be repaired by returning your PC to set up "out of the box. In fact, most of the PC with a recovery partition you cannot save data on that partition. If you are still determined to do the easiest to remove these data is boot safe mode with command prompt. Set up the focus on the recovery partition and delete everything form the command line. I'm not trying to be insulting, but if you don't know how to do that you probably shouldn't be remove your data from the recovery Partition because without falling back on you should have to be pretty savvy to reload Vista and install all the drivers on your own. How to free space on the hard drive recovery disk?
My J: drive (recovery) is near capacity after a reinstall of Windows 7. How to clear space on this drive?
Hi John R H,The purpose of the training of recovery is to store all the files needed to do disaster recovery, when the system becomes unstable. The recovery disk is actually a partition on the hard drive of your computer - not a real physical disk. There is much less space than other drives. If you use the recovery disk to store files (such as backup files), the reader is full quickly and can cause serious problems when you need to use the system recovery.Note: Do not store files on the recovery drive. The only files on the recovery disk should be linked to a system recovery.Here's a post that addresses a similar issue. To resolve this issue, check the suggestion given in the post. -
Reinstalled Win Vista with the recovery CD that I got with my HP Pavilion, now get quick activate Windows with a new product key. MS sticker on the tower is one that says 'Vista', no product key. When I go to activate Windows, I offer the choice to buy another copy of Windows or enter a new product key. A run the Genuine Advantage tool and he says it's "authentic." HP will not help, they say I have to buy another copy of Windows from MS, but I already paid for it when I bought the machine. What can I do?
Hello!
I need help. I have a Toshiba laptop and a few days ago I formatted with a friend who was supposed to know how to do. We have done with the restore cd that I had for vista, but in the process, we have deleted all partitions. My knowledge is very small, but I think that erase something (the recovery partition?) which was necessary to reinstall Vista because the CD does not work.
Another friend told me that what I need now is an installation for Vista CD and that now that we have erased all my recovery CD does not work.
Someone has an idea?
Thank youHello
I put t know what exactly you were doing, but normally you can reinstall the laptop using the Toshiba recovery disc. It is a very easy procedure because you only have to make a few clicks. Disk erase the whole HARD drive but that s normal so Don t be to worry about this.
Alternative, you can use a Microsoft Windows disk. Thus, you can also reinstall Vista, but after that, you will need to download and install all the drivers from the Toshiba site.
This isn't their recovery process, Microsoft.
The manufacturer images this recovery Partition on your hard drive during their manufacturing process.
You also had to make disks for recovering the hard drive failure, if this process has been included.
