  I think we need more information about your project - you can take a screenshot of your project LabVIEW RT target and the location of the shared variables? What is the configuration of the shared variable? Do you use the cRIO Scan Engine or FPGA (or both?)? How you deploy your library of variables?   The yellow light is the touchpad switch itself. Press the light twice to activate the lighting which allows you to use the touchpad again. You could hit during use. Not a good design for the laptop.

  There is no way to loosen the touchpad button...

  Log in normally and Access Preferences system-> users and groups. Click on the Options of connection at the bottom left. You may need to click the lock and enter your password to make changes. Change 'AutoConnect' from 'Off' to your account.
