  landscape orientation are resized to the
  same dimensions... go to... Advanced...
  and enter the largest number in these two areas.
  IOW... for 600 x 800... Enter 800 in these two areas.

  Even if you enter the same dimensions as the
  current photo... the file size will be reduced.

  FWIW... If you need a particular image format
  to make the picture fit into a specific model...
  You may need to crop the photo to avoid
  distortion...

  I have a number of images of preparation of animals and they all must be 40mm at 300 DPI from tip of nose to their buttocks. The problem is a bunch of them have antennas, of long ears, long tail, etc. which may not be included in the measure, which prevents me to perform the entire image a certain size. How the entire image would turn so I can be sure that most of the animal measured exactly 40mm? TYIA!

  Crop the image for measurement points (do not delete the cropped pixels). Then the Image-> resize to 40 mm wide with 300 dpi. Then select reveals all and crop once again if you want.

  1. Select the layer of the photo in layers;

  2. click on the button to learn more.

  3. delete the current photo;

  4. the layer is reset with no picture

  Command/O to open a new photo (control/O if you're on Windows)

  Double-click the name of the file to open in a new window

  Command/A to select all

  Command/C to copy

  Double-click the thumbnail of the original photo (bottom)

  Select layer/new/layer and then return to create a new empty layer

  Command/V to paste the new photo in the new layer

  Choose from the options under Image/transform to deform it go where you want.
