How to restore the icon that points to the office and is located next to the Start button?

There used to be an icon beside the Start button that would take me directly to the desktop without worrying about how many windows can be opened and stacked above the other.  I lost this icon somehow and I have no idea how to do to get it back.  Can you help me please?  Thank you.  Alain

    Just install windows 7 back. You can buy it on Ebay too. W8 is just not made for the ugly PCs. big tiles everywhere.

    I put t really understand what the problem is here. As far as I know, the mouse settings cannot disappear so easy. In any case try to roll back OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool. Maybe this option will be there again.

    Looks like you saw. Rearrange icons by | Name. Try to organize by Type and other options while keeping rearrange icons by | Show in groups were also checked.

    When you deleted the program, program who are you referring?

    You can try to perform a system restore and see if it helps.

    You can try to perform a restore of the system to a prior restore point you have been affected by the issue.
