How to restrict a smart collection to another collection

I have a collection - I evaluated their & flying their flag. I want to make a smart collection, so I only see photos with indicator and listed. I tried to use the collection as a source for a smart collection, but this does not select the photos. Instead, I have to use the folder as source - what I am doing wrong?

See you soon

Stephen

Hi Stephen

Go to your collection and use the filter library. If you do not see the filter library at the top of your thumbnails, press the backslash key.

You can use the filter to search for photos with indicator and starry or combinations of these criteria.

I have a search that pulls the two members of a family. I do a search for a member of the family. I have the key words being uniform #-name. I put that I'm looking for, but am coming up with two members of the family. Adding to the challenge is we got the number 20, one I'm eager. But the other has #2 as their uniform number. Any thoughts on how to restrict this search?

    TIA.

    Hi jim,

If you create a smart collection for this search, you must specify the rule as: corresponding to all "" other metadata > keywords > contains the words > first name last name ".

Or, if you're looking for this image with the specific keyword through filter, then turn on the filter bar, by going to the view menu

    and follow the instructions below:

    1. Select the metadata in the filter bar

2 choose the keyword in the first menu drop-down

    3. Select the desired keyword in this list of keywords and which must display the refined result.

How to (copy) this structure to my Lightroom 3 on my laptop? Exports in the catalogue the only way?

    Kind regards

Yes. This is how I do for smart collections came on the scene. I submitted a feature request to export the smart collections as well as their actual structure, but it doesn't have much traction because it isn't something you do very often.

  • Smart Collection showing bad pictures

I built a smart collection that's my pictures without a title, but the photos with titles are also displayed. The condition that I use is "title contains words." Can be a help for this? Do I need to add other conditions? I do not use one of the conditions at the bar of 'search' at the top of the library Module. I am trying to build my own workflow using smart Collections.

    Mike

I do not have the option of "title contains words", my option is "Title" and "does not contain", i.e. without the word "words". There is an option "contains the words" but "does not contain words '.

I have the same smart collection that works well. My settings are like this:

You can also use lowercase letters in the third field.

You don't need the first two lines. They restrict the smart collection to a certain folder and image files that are not of the JPG.

PS. Oh, I see. You put 'words' in the third field? It does not work. Then all the images with titles that does not contain the word "words" will appear - probably all.

  • How can I transfer my smart collections of the old hard disk on a hard disk new?

I installed a new SSD in my Macbook Pro.  I used Migration Assistant to move the application, and I manually copied my libraries.  In the transfer, I lost all my smart collections (I got a few tens of individuals).  I still have the old drive with the installation of LR intact, so I can access it if there is a way to copy on the parameters of my collection.  Thanks if advance for any guidance.

rpandita: you must export this collection in the catalog and then move it to another computer.

I believe that acpft24 has copied with success of its catalogue and photos on the new diskette but wants to transfer the definitions of its smart collections, not the pictures that result to invoke smart collections.  Catalog export won't.

ManiacJoe: Smart collections are found in the LR catalog. By going to the new HD, you need to move your images and catalogue LR and all your LR presets. http://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-move-Lightroom-to-new-computer/

If indeed the goal is to transfer the definitions of smart collections, then the referenced article will tell you how to do this, in addition to all your other preferences and presets.  I don't know why the Migration Wizard does not do it right, but of course, it didn't.

Note that the definitions of smart-collection is not stored in the correct catalog, but in LR preferences file.  You can see the contents of this folder by preferences > Presets > show Lightroom Presets folder.   The "Smart Collection Templates" subfolder contains files text .lrtemplate, one for each smart collection.

  • How is possible to create a smart collection to find all the photos that are not belongs to any collection?

    Hello

How is possible to create a Smart Collection to find all the photos are not belongs to any collection?

"Yesterday I was importing a lot of photo when my camera battery died then I succeeded him and continued to import without thinking that the previous import collection literally means" previous import. "

So I need to find a way to create a smart collection that will reveal all the photos that do not belong to any collection.

I solved the problem with a workaround is creating a collection based on the date of the photo which worked well, but must be nice to have a more general collection to find all the photo that are not from the collections.

    Thanks in advance,

    Marco.

    Another way to do

    1. Select all photos in the catalog

    2 dismiss a color label

    3. go to collections and multi select all your collections (ctrl)

    4. select images and give them a color

    5. return to the catalogue

    6. filter by color label - No

  • Smart Collections - how to test if legend or title is empty?

I am using the smart collections to detect what I consider mistakes in my flickr of editing for things like the author not defined status, lack of information location, creator and others by using the operator '_FITTED    I am now configuring some collections in "warnings" to check if I've set up a title and a legend and could not see a way to test if these fields are blank, as the 'is' and 'is not' test operators seem not to be available for these fields as it is for others - fields such as country, State Creator etc.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Alan.

PS - Adobe... I appreciate an operator "is" is not reasonable for a free text field, but I suggest an operator "is empty" would make sense and be useful in this scenario.

LR3 has options for Caption "is empty."

See screenshot to see how to manage the title is empty

  • How do I create a smart (smart) collection of all photos taken at date of Christmas for all years (all of 24 December)?

I like to create a smart collection of all photos taken from a specific date as December 24, for all years!

It is very tedious to do that in Lightroom without a plug-in.

I think that the plug-in filter everything from John R. Ellis can create this collection without penalty (I don't know if it creates a smart collection or a regular collection).

  • How to copy files from a smart collection on a regular?

In Lightroom CC I want to sync photos to the cloud.  Since Lightroom only synchronize smart collections, I created a regular collection.

Following the instructions, I selected all and trained to the new regular collection.  But they don't hang around.

I can drag a photo and I get the blue highlight on the collection.  But as soon as I select 2 or more when I drag the blue highlighting disappears...

When you go to slide images, make sure you click on the thumbnail and not the gray frame.

  • Cannot view smart collections on another computer

I generated about smart collections a dozen photos on an external drive. This has been done on my laptop.

When I try to view the smart collections with the disc mounted on my desktop, I get the error message "target collection folder is not found." Sometimes it will say purge the cache, which I did several times, to no avail. I know that the smart collection data on the hard drive of the laptop. Is it possible to put it on the same drive as the pictures?

When I return to the laptop, all is well again. Is there a way to see the collections on both computers?

Is there a way to see the collections on both computers?

I'm not sure but I think it's possible. Bridge is very specific user and a collection and smart collection is nothing else than a bunch of aliases. The files are on the same drive as the other end is different.

You can copy the collection file itself (on a Mac: user library / application support / Adobe / Bridge CSxx / collections to the other system in the same place, but I still don't know if it would work it is also a bit of a PITA to keep searching and copying of these files.)

My workflow would be to create new folders on the external drive and select the collection in the content window. Use select all, then copy (or move, some workflow suites you) files in the new location. These new records can be selected in both machines. Is not ideal, but for now I don't see what that be better

  • How can I insert raw images in smart collections?

I just created a few smart collections, but the CR files were rejected.  Is it possible to include?  I shoot raw/jpeg, so hold the two formats from the collection.

    Thank you.

I just checked the Raw images in smart collections. It worked just like all other JPEG files. If you can view thumbnails of Raw in bridge, according to my hypothesis, there cannot be any problem in creating the smart collection. If you cannot display thumbnails u may need to update the bridge to read the contradiction of particular camera model image.any will be received in the good spirit

  • problem with filter smart collection

    Hello

I know that this question could be covered widely in various forums, but I can't find what I'm looking for.

The issue I'm having is that I used the quick Collection folder to temporarily store all the photos that I have edited for printing.  All of a sudden all the photos of this quick collection have broken links (! in the upper right corner).  I found these pictures in the real LR folder and they are fine.  How is that possible?

instead of fixing all the links in the quick collection, I would like to use a smart collection just find all my photos edited in the original folder that has the tact in links.  However, when you filter for "adjusted photos" the smart collection keeps giving me photos with broken links, probably from my quick collection, not those of the foler.  How do I know the smart collection to search only in one folder I want?

I hope that this logic... I can clarify if necessary.  Thank you!

Hi, you seem to be confused about the importance of brands of exclamation noticed on the images.

This means that the catalog as a whole has lost track of these images.

The most likely reason is that they have been moved to another location by using the operating system or one application other than Lightroom or they are on an external hard drive where the assigned drive letter changed (a Windows problem).

I do not understand your comment on find them in the "real" LR folder

Images are not stored in Lightroom, either.

The catalog contain references to the location of your pictures.

It is these references that are spread over the images showing the exclamation points.

If the Smart collection has been implemented correctly then it will want to include all the images that have been published for printing, but the Smart collection is SEO information found in the catalogue and so it will include images of which the catalogue has lost track of--exactly as you found it.

  • Smart collection - stacked photos and keywords parents

    Hello world!

I'm playing with smart collections and wonder there is a possibility

-to filter photos stacked and / or the first (front) image of a stack of photo...

-to filter a parent keyword that is not assigned itself-, it should show all the photos with the respective child of key words (but no pictures with other keywords that can contain part of the keyword parent); or more simply put - filter just how that would happen when you press on the-> arrow next to a keyword in the keyword browser

    Thanks for all the inputs.

Unfortunately, there is no 'empty' option, but using a search the presence of vowels gets around this omission. You can configure a smart collection as shown in the attached screenshot and he must capture all of your images which have no title. There is another variant of this collection intelligent with a, e, i, o, u, y on a single line, but it was broken several times in previous versions, so I tend to not use it.
