How to run Live OneCare Safety Scanner

I find that I have Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner in the Control Panel - Add and remove programs on my XP Home edition. The installation includes the Protection, Clean up and Tune up. Can someone tell me how to access and run this installation program, and how I can choose only one of the 3 items in the program to run? Thank you

Go to the web page of Windows Live OneCare safety scanner , and then select the element you want to run.

Windows Live OneCare safety scanner will not interfere with other software programs anti-virus and internet security?

Yes. And it's also an older program that Microsoft has dropped,
So it is not a good idea to run it. Not at all.

New Microsoft security product is called Microsoft Security
Essentials. If you want a Microsoft security product, run that. Do not
run another anti-virus program if you run that. You ask about others
Internet security software programs, but please specify exactly what that
    you ask about the programs.

When I try to run the scanner onecare that I get "The Windows Live Safety Scanner OneCre" has encountered an error.  error 0x0C600C03
I ran the Quesqui security before without any problem. can I have a virus?

    Hello Therayman,

Thanks for choosing Microsoft answers Forums for Windows Vista.

Therayman, let us know analyst you are trying to run the Onecare safety scanner online or that you have the software for it?

Here are a few steps you can try:

    1. perform an online scan by following the link below:
       http://OneCare.live.com/site/en-us/community/default.htm

    2. in a second step:

    Uninstall, make IE closes.
Go to your Internet Options, programs and manage add-ons.
You will find the ActiveX to OneCare Safety Scanner. Highlight and delete (IE should always be closed)
him find the folder on your C drive, delete the folder.
    Then restart.

    3. you can also try * full * removal of the parser that would require an ActiveX update when the Scanner has been re-performance. Follow the steps below:

    To remove the scanner:
    Close Microsoft Internet Explorer.
On the taskbar, click Start and then click Control Panel.
In Control Panel, click Add / Remove programs.
Select the Windows Live OneCare safety scanner, and then click on remove.

Most of the time these steps will remove all files installed for the scanner. But if you want to make sure that everything has been deleted, follow these steps:
On the taskbar, click Start, and then click Explore.
In the folders pane, expand my computer, drive Local (C :)), and then click Program Files. Look in Program Files and if you find a Windows Live Safety Center folder, delete it.
Now, open Internet Explorer. Go to the Tools menu, click Internet Options, but if you use IE7 use this method to remove the base of ActiveX module
On the general tab, click settings (under temporary Internet files).
In the settings dialog box, click view objects.
In the Downloaded Program Files folder, look for the Windows Live Safety Center base module. If it exists, right-click on the file and click on delete.

Then, install it in safe mode with network. To do this restart your computer and press F8 at the boot menu select Mode safe mode with networking. Install the safety scanner OneCare live of Windows in safe mode with network.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

  • OneCare safety scanner redirects to another site

    http://OneCare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm redirects to http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Why is there no information about changes to onecare? Redirect virus are enough of a problem without Microsoft is jumping the bandwagon! To add to the futility of the Microsoft Safety Scanner is in fact the tool of Microsoft Support emergency response. Advanced search for MSS produced results essentially devoted to Safety Scanner . OneCare A search for ODILE produces no exact match. Being a user of Microsoft Security Essentials , I learned that MSE and ODILE share the same definitions of antimalware. Also noted ODILE was identical to the Malicious Software Removal Tool interface. Is - this secret a lame attempt to derail the efforts of the authors of malicious software or typical Microsoft lack of customer support?

The following links provide little information or reference:

Information on the Microsoft Safety Scanner site is minimalist. The opinion about the tool that expires in 10 days seems disconnected from reality, given the anti-malware definitions are updated several times a day and no mention is made of this.

I had a customer service request in this regard and post here for discussion and not rant.

    Hello

OneCare support ended April 11, 2011.

    http://OneCare.live.com/standard/en-us/default.htm

What is changing? In October 2009, the sales of Windows Live OneCare were dropped in all markets. Technical support ended on April 11, 2011. In addition, billing support will end the or before June 30, 2011, according to the date of end of subscription to the customer. View frequently asked questions about the end of the sales and support of OneCare.

What should I do? Because OneCare is no longer actively helps protect your PC after April 11, 2011, we advise you to choose an alternative antivirus (for example Microsoft Security Essentials, the solution antivirus free, easy to use for customers, individuals and small businesses with PCs running Windows). Before installing a different antivirus solution, however, you will first need to uninstall OneCare from your PC.

It seems there must be other methods.

  • Windows Live Safety Scanner for Windows 7 using MS Internet Explorer 9

Hi, I recently moved from my trusty XP to a new with Windows 7. I used to regularly use the Windows Live OneCare safety scanner - usually just clean - especially to clean the registry. I used to find after receiving updates Microsoft, the registry needs to be cleaned. I would like to do similar now. The first time I tried it, it worked well and took me to the site for Vista & Win 7 whereonly a complete analysis is available. I went with this and ensure that enough werer there are 100 registry errors to be fixed. Since then, I've been unable to use it. A message appears on the bottom of my screen saying. When I click on the button to install the scanner, wait please sign lights up a message appears saying "Internet Explorer blocked a control Active X, so this page will not display correctly." Then blue, he says "what is the risk. There is not the possibility to allow the Active X control. We once I went into Windows and the security option and clicked on each ActiveX little to ask. At that time, he was installing the scanner. However, when I clicked on that he returned to tell the scanner to install. It seemed to go into a loop.  Can someone help me on how to solve this problem?

    Hi, I thought to http://onecare.live.com/site/en-gb/default.htm?keyword=scannerhome

In fact I got it to work this morning. It reported record 119 errors and corrects all but 15. What I had to do, was to go to Internet Options, Security, which, down to amd 0 also unchecked ProtectedZone. The scanner then ran successfully.

Thanks for your help. Resolved question.

  • Time protection real HELP in MSE stopped working after running the utility in Windows Live OneCare cleanup tool?

Protection in real time in MSE stopped working after running the utility in Windows Live OneCare cleanup tool? Error Code: 0x800705b4

    Hello Wally,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

The question error codes and the description that you get suggests that you are facing problem when using MSE. This problem may occur if other security software, such as antivirus, antispyware and antimalware programs, are totally or partially installed on the computer.

I suggest to change firewall security settings or disable temporary security on the system software and try using MSE and see if it makes a difference. How to temporarily disable security software, you can view the article mentioned below.

    Disable the antivirus

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attack.

For more details, please see the article mentioned below and see that it helps you to fix the problem.
