Three Partitions on my drive.

I have a Dell Studio 1537 with Vista 32 bit on the hard drive. I am trying to install Windows 7 64 bit as a clean install and I noticed that there are three partitions on the hard disk: one with a small amount of space. second space with 14 of and about 9 GB used and is labeled as recovery which I think is the drive D: layout workstation.  third (much larger) space which had Vista installed, c drive, I assumed. On the c drive, I installed Windows 7 64-bit clean. I format 14 GB of space and install it on my Windows 7? Am I not wasting space unnecessarily?

You must remove all your partitions before installing Windows 7.  The recovery is no longer usable since you installed Windows 7 so it can and should be deleted.

Recovery DVD does not give an option to partition the hard drive. You can create a new partition using disk management in Windows.

  • How to partition the hard drive

Hi, anyone knows how to disable partition the hard drive? Getting sick of the transfer of information between C: and E: Paulette

Go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, disk management.

Do right click on E a remove it. After that, you should be able to enlarge C with right click and choose the option of not. But you'll have to save files on E first, so as not to lose them.

If this does not work for any reason, you will still be able to use 3rd programs like partition magic. I've used several times and I am very happy with it.

  • Accidentally partitioned my boot drive.

Thinking I was partition an external drive, I partitioned my boot drive of 1 gig in 3 equal partitions. Things seem to be good, but is it possible to easily disable partition or do I have to reformat the hard disk and reinstall from my backup time machine?

    Thank you

Open disk utility, select the disk, delete the second and third partitions and resize the first to the capacity of the drive.

You can manage the partitions of HARD drive in computer management. Choose on the left side of disk management. On the right side, you will get information on partitions. There, you can reduce or enlarge existing partitions or create a new one.

  • Partition on HARD drive disappeared after formatting using the product recovery disc

My laptop came with a partitioned hard drive C and D drives.

After formatting my hard drive using the recovery disk of the supplied product with my computer, I don't have any option to partition the HARD drive, only for the 1. 46 GB for some recommended backup, and the remainder became the C drive.
D drive disappeared. Now, when I put the USB ant in my laptop, it reads as D drive.
Can you please help, I need to have my hard drive partitioned into C and D drives, and flash memory can be any subsequent letter.

    Hello Richard

Is it so complicated to tell us which model of laptop you have exactly?
Anyway, when you use recovery Toshiba you cannot lose score. After using the recovery media, you'll have to factory settings and the structure of the HARD disk will be the same as on the first day.
Something like that is definitely not possible.

    > I don't have no option to partition the HARD disk
This option doesn't exist. On some older models of laptops, just an option to set up the first score ability there.
After the first start, you can go to disk management and activate the second partition. All that s!

Please tell me what model of laptop have you then I can tell you more about the partitions.

  • How to partition the hard drive in my satellite M40X-189?

Please can you advise the team?
I would like to have the operating system and application programs in a partition and the data I've created in another partition.
Please can I have advice from the team?
Has anyone partitioned the hard drive on their satellite M40X-189 and what software did you use to do the partitioning?
Also, I just defragged my hard drive and the card reader can be seen at: http://www.seniorvalues.org/drive%20map.jpg
I am curious about the above provision given that free space if 52%, but white space does not reflect this and there is a piece of defragmented files and folders around the middle of the big whitespace at the end of the training I was expecting to be adjacent to the last great defragmented file.

    Hello

I use partition magic to create and manage new partitions. In my opinion it of the best tool if you want to work with partitions.
I have 2 partitions on my unit. C for OS and D for the 3rd of data and files. In this case if I recover my unit only the first C partition will be formatted.

  • How to partition a hard drive for a B50-70 for Linux? No problem with that?

    Hello

How to partition a hard drive for a B50-70?

I want to install Linux and keep Windows 8.1 also.

This will affect the software factory example: back up hard drive function, OKR?

Problems partitioning B50 of the 1970s?

Is it acquisitions have 8.1 Windows on a laptop Lenovo-B50-7?

What will happen if I got rid of Windows 8.1 operating system?

    Thanks in advance.

    Information on the machine:

    B50-70

    Model name: 20384

    Windows 8.1

I've not seen / heard of successful use of the flash drive for recovery purposes. The default software using optical disk, when I used it on my G580.

If your laptop does not have a CD / DVD burner, you may need to contact them directly to discuss this option.

As to where he is? It is a hidden partition on the hard drive, is usually not accessible.

Cloning the hard drive can not return to that partition hidden - it would be a little bit the clone of the drive to work.

I recommend to download your manual of maintenance on the Support site and learn more about the 100% specific for your laptop recovery process.

  • Partition a new drive of 320GB for XP Media

This place is HUGE! I found "here" many hours in the tech library.

I want to partition the drive just 320 the first time, with all "opinions" out there, I need the correct answer, so here is the description: off the 320 is 40 GB the right amount for the XP - Pro Media Edition with all 300 updates + Office 2007, iTunes/Quicktime, Macromedia Fireworks FX and Dreamweaver, and a few others. The system is for multimedia (including PowerPoint, Publisher) as well as Word, Excel. I'll use some of them for internet & documentation and with the 40 GB I use free space is about 27 GB with the rest.

Maybe 60GB, a partition for the sys file page. and what is the surplus (EST. ~ 260 GB) use as a partition to keep all my work on. Only a convience do left amount in 2 parts, it's ok. I can use one for photos, Movie-presentations, one for music files, etc. Your Advisor is very well respected in this case. Thank you.

I want to install everything in the correct partition and use the balance of the car for all files, storage. No App [cations or programs.]   I ask about the size of the Partition that there is much to say about the overall size. That I need help, if the size of 260 GB is ok for this, or should it be split into 2 partitions? IE: maintenance/convience thing.

I found also that it is recommended to make a 8 ~ 10GB partition for the pagefile, and again, it should be done, it is necessary, this effort will make a difference in performance.

I want to set up & install this system in the best possible and with less chance of THIS level of fixation. I just want to use it. I am 54 and put up correctly with this huge drive and use XP. I gladly and appriciate your help (even in the wrong forum) Pro Media Edition 2005. It's a good 'ole machine. It's all in a nut shell. Thanks in advance for the help. I intend to implement in the next 2 days. Since a "NEWBIE" Please do not hesitate to ask for clairification. Thank you people. Help!

  • Is it possible to partition the hard drive by using software like Partition Master, install XP and an earlier version of Office on the new partition?

Partitioning of a Windows 7 computer

On a laptop Windows 7 HP, it is possible to partition the hard drive by using software like Partition Master, install XP and an earlier version of Office on the new partition? I know I can run Win7 XP mode, but many prefer a base XP environment. Yes, I have new copies unregistered XP and Office 2003.

    TIA,

    Steve

Besides Partition Master you can also use Windows 7 "Disk Managment" to shrink the partition of Windows 7, create a new partition of the space "unallocated", and then do a formatting NTFS "Full".

Your question is not quite clear to me. Your reader should all unallocated space? Normally readers aren't.

Fear that there be any question of this as "unallocated" means, is the space that is not in any partition. It is * not * unused space in a partition.

If you don't have unallocated space, you will need a third party program to create another partition.

    Hello Seymour777,

There is good and bad news for this.

The good news is that there is a way to do it.

The bad news is usually the disc at the level of the publishing industry.

This operation is not in this forum.

Your best option right now is to look for a data recovery specialist or watch data recovery programs that will do the job for you.

  • Windows stops and restarts each time I login, the last thing I did was partition the hard drive

I upgraded my hard drive because I needed more space.  At first, I put the same settings as the original drive.  C is the primary drive and D is the HP recovery disk.  There is apparently a small partition that windows uses, but does not have a drive letter.  I left all sizes even.  This has left me a large part of the unallocated disk.

With the help of Partition Master, I created a major score that I use for music, photos, documents, etc.  At the time I did, I got an external hard drive connected.  He was assigned as drive F and I created the new partition as G:.

Shortly after this, my computer crashed and restarted.  When I log in, it says that windows has recovered from a serious error.  It plugs along for a little while and then did the same thing again and again and again.

It doesn't gives me a lot of other information that means something to me.  If I click on the Details button for the information it sends to Microsoft if I want to report that it has a bunch of gibberish, but I'm sure that it wants to say something to someone.  I'll try to copy the next time it hangs after as I write this.

I ejected the disk external and changed the drive letter on my new partition to F.  I can't believe that's going to do something, but I thought that maybe the partitions on the drive must be in order (of course, I'll try anything).

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

  • How much space do I need to allow for Vista while partitioning the hard drive?

How much space do I need to allow for Vista while partitioning the hard drive?

I am installing on a new drive hard and need to partition the hard drive.

I remember he had a certaing amount allocated for vista and before recovery.

    Help, please!

    Hello

40GBs is the minimum; who will be vey quickly useless.

Recovery partition would have been photographed by the manufacturer of the computer hard disk and you can't replicate that.

You can use all of the hard disk space available to install Vista on.

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Can I have - 2 operating system installed and running in two partitions of hard drive to my desktop computer?

I use Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit (a copy of the license), preloaded in my office by DELL from 20/02/2007. Before that from July 2002, I was with Windows XP Professional Pack 1 with fireplace (a copy of the license of the version DT. 25 October 2001). Because I have to go to another State for a new job, I gave the IBM Office to my friend. But the CD with operating system Windows XP pack1 is lying idle with me. I want to install the same in another partition of the hard disk to present Desktop DELL. I have partitioned my hard drive in the goal - C:\ and D:\. Now, I want to know, before you proceed further - is my scheme is feasible? The two O.S. will work in two separate partitions with regularly updated? I visited the "historical update file" and I noticed that Windows XP Professional Pack2 and Pack3 has been downloaded one installed in the system. I will give you more time using Windows XP Professional if loaded correctly in D:\ because it is more compatible with my professional needs. I invite suggestions from my learned friends.

    Thanking you in advance,
