How to select a 14 days ago restore point?

How to select a 14 days ago restore point? It will only return 5 days when providing a list of restore points to choose.

If you checked the box to display the points of restoration more than 5 days, then I'm afraid you're out of luck.

    • Hello

      Helpful guys and experts.

      My question is this:

My disk partion initial c (by the company) was 40 GB. Expanded to 57 GB for superior performance.

My memory of ghost initial Max in the c drive was 4,124 Go. used is 2.27 GB and allocated is 2509.

Earlier, I used to get 5 points of restoration, to comfortable to update and add new program. Now a day I have no choice or option suspicious me to install new updates especially vista sp 2 making corrupt programs.

I followed the procedure to increase the phantom memory (Max) in 6 GB c drive. The restoration is active for C drive and recovery drive (10 GB)

What is the solution and the procedure to get more restore points.

  • I looked under system restore points and the earlier it had was on March 27, which was still after that I got problems

Good so my computer has some corrupted files... I looked under the system (Yes, including the section 5 days ago) restore points, and the earlier it had was on March 27, which was still after that I got problems... I want a later date... Help, please.

    Hello

If there is no previous restore points until 27 March, including even more that 5 days more then they just do not exist

and you can not do something which

    Follow these steps instead:

    Run the sfc/scannow command.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-clickguest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions

If SFC detects the main problems it can't fix you may need to borrow a Microsoft dvd vista not an acer, HP etc. recovery disk and do a repair installation

read the below tutorial on how to perform a repair installation

  • Cannot do on my C: drive Restore Points

I have the usual C: drive and also a D: drive, which is my recovery disk. When I try to set a system restore point, this will create only a to D: drive. (even if the D: drive is disabled and that the C: drive is turned on it appears on the D: drive!) I have disabled both drives, rebooted, turned on the C: drive, and then, when I create a restore point, he said: he managed, but while it appears on the D: drive, with no point of restoration on my C: drive.  The next time I open the system restore, it says that I have not made the restore points. I'm at a total loss, how to fix it. I have a HP computer with Dual Core, 3 GB RAM and Vista Home Premium. I don't have a Vista disc as it was installed with Vista. I only have the restore disks that you can make the machine itself. Thanks for any help I could get here.

This means that C:\ partition is your system drive, and the operating system drive D:\ is your recovery disk.  They are not mixed as your friend has suggested.

Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.  If it happened too long ago, so we will have to give up this option.

If the system restore does not work, do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc.  Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.

If this does not work, try to start in safe mode (repeatedly hit F8 key so that the start and go in safe mode with networking).  Then we will check some of your system files:

Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.

While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run.  It will scan and try to solve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a cause.

If it does not, then thanks for posting any repetitive error message in Event Viewer on startup (Start / Control Panel / administrative tools / Event Viewer).  Here's how to use Event Viewer: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic40108.html.

If this does not work, you will need to do a repair/system upgrade using the Windows Vista Installation disc authentic (you own or that you can borrow from someone).  Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html as well as the upgrade from an earlier version of the Windows section of the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918884.  Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side. If other procedures do not work, it is almost certain to work.  You can have a lot of updates to re - install (including all you need to remove service packs).  If the version on system with SP1 or SP2 preinstalled cane and the disc is an earlier version, then you will need to do a slipstream drive as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/151606-vista-sp1-slipstream-installation-dvd.html.

I hope one of these procedures can solve your problem.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try something else.  Return message anyway so we know how it turns out.

    Good luck!

  • Manually set a previous Restore Point

How can I set a system restore point on a date prior to that of the automatic restore point? For example, my current automatic restore point is May 25 and I want to put it to May 21. When I click on the link that allows me to set a restore point, it defines only the point for the current day. It does not give me the option of specifying a particular (and previous) date for my restore point, along with other versions of Windows.

No win version did have the opportunity to create a restore point for a date that has passed.

If you mean you want to restore to an earlier period, when the victory of system restore select the box "show more restore points.

  • Restore points as far as the list displayed

    Hello Lorien!

I did like you and Noel suggested and created another Admin account. It works very well! None of the problems errors occur in the newly created Admin account. He's got a few days of restore points for system recovery can I choose in System Recovery - today ' today only to the extent of the return in the 02/05/2010.  I don't see a box that allows me to check more than 5 days of restore points.  If there is a way of knowing how to go further away from the restore points, I would be interested to know how to do this for future reference. I'll follow your instructions above for this further investigation.

Is it also possible now to know what the problem is in the 'old' Admin account?  I will follow your link on how to first fix a "corrupt user profile.  Is there a way to remove this 'problem' account, or you think that this link is a reliable solution?   Your thoughts are very much appreciated to help me to solve these problems, and thank you very, very much!

    Sincerely, Ron

Personally, I have not try and repair the 'old' account, but simply move
All through a new. This way you know there is no problems.
Remember that you may have to reinstall programs for the new account,
and stuff (like Windows Mail) are buried in the hierarchy of user profile.
You can use FAST to postpone things - but you can also carry the
corruption overall, even once, I'd rather not.
Keep the old account until you are confident, you have everything
restored/copied in the new, then simply use the control of user accounts
Panel to remove the old one - it should leave the machine clean.
HTH, and happy that my idea seems to have resolved (or rather successful) the
    problem.

How can I remove an XP system restore point. In Oct 08 my PC date has been incorrectly defined on Nov 08 and System Restore creates different restore points. Now PC date set Oct 08 what will happen in November? Can I remove restore points?

I think that you can't remove already created restore points ignore them. If your laptop is set correctly now I recommend you to create your own restore point and you will know which is the right one.

    Ideas:

Do a system restore. Choose at least 3 days ago when you did not have this problem as your restore point.

Start button > Search box, type system restore > press the Enter key > uac prompt > click on choose a different restore point > next > select dates as your restore point, until the click > next > finish
To sit and wait. The machine restarts when it's done.
