How to 'show' a choice of program menu in the Start Menu?

When Start menu > programs and then maybe digging through another couple of submenus to load a program, is there a way I can pin as the end point directly in my Start Menu?  I know you can do this in Windows 7.  (If not, what is the best way to do it?)

Hello

Yes you can right-click the point, and the PIN in the Start Menu.

How can I find out what programs I should have started and what are the programs I can start myself to my computer to run correctly when starting?

    Hello

I understand you want to learn about programs, you should start your Windows startup. I will certainly help you to question.

When you start Windows by using a normal startup startup, several applications and services automatically, and then run in the background. These programs include the base system, antivirus software, utility applications processes system and other software that was previously installed. These applications and services may cause interference when you install or run a program.

The system configuration is a tool that can help identify problems that might prevent Windows from starting correctly. You can start Windows with common services and startup programs turned off and then reactivate them, one at a time.

I suggest you to refer to the links below and check if this is useful:

I want to display the clock of Windows 8 to stay visible on the start page.

    Thank you!

A clock does not appear on the start screen, but if you go to the bar of charms, there's a moment there.

    Go to the start screen.

Now press the Windows key + C to open the bar of charms, which reveals the time.
You can also move your mouse to the top right of the screen for the charms bar to appear.
  • I lost my games folder in the all programs folder in the start menu, how can I replace it (Win 7 Pro)

If I remember correctly, I was playing solitaire spider on this computer about 1 year ago, but now I can't find the Games folder in the start menu. In the past, the record of the games was still installed automactically when I installed the operating system. Can it be restored or installed from a stand alone facility?

    Thank you

    Frank

When you go to start, type spider and see if it lists the game.  Otherwise, type appwiz.cpl and press ENTER.  Then click Add windows components, and then check out the games.  Sometimes, on Windows 7 Pro, they are disabled.

  • Customize the "Programs" list in the start menu which will be held in the way I want

On the Start Menu, under the "All programs" list, I want to be able to organize where shortcuts are stored and how they are organized.  I found out how switch to Classic view and do the old-fashioned way.  That took me so far. To illustrate, I don't want the set of displayed utilities kitchen sink.  This is absurd.  So I created folders that go something like this: Office-graphic tools, security tools, tools of money, Web tools, tools, etc.  Then the first time I put for example, Adobe Reader 8 under Web tools. I put Norton under Tools-security, etc.  This means that I don't have to sort through a Visual equivalent of a pile of linen on the floor to find what I need.  It is logically. (When I was finished, I went back in the menu "Classic start", in the Vista Start menu).  It was working fine.

But that is the problem.  Classics view let me do it once, but now that I've updated programs, like I did just for Adobe Reader 9, he puts the shortcut at the top of the list, and he won't let me not drag in the folder I want, or customize any other way.  (Why not?  Users should be able to easily organize their own computer screen. For me, customization is not just by clicking on a list about whether or not he should display something. "It is to logically organize the way you want).  When I return to the classic menu, it does not show the Adobe Reader 9, or some of the other utilties that have been added to the list of programs and to show up when I go to "All programs" but are not where when I return to the option of classic menu-customize-Advanced to customize folders.

Please advise me on how to customize the display, ideally in the version of Vista's Start Menu, instead of having to go back to the classic view, which now does not display the new shortcuts.  Thank you.

    Hi ibydesign,

I know what you mean. Everyone has their own way of organizing and you should be able to logically group things where you want. Whose computer is anyway? There IS a way to organize your own stuff in Vista. If you right click on the button to start, then click on explore all users, it will open Windows Explorer in the (hidden) program data folder. Under Microsoft\Windows\Start Démarrer\Programmes you should see all the files and programs that you want to work with.

  • Add a program installed in the Start Menu

The Kindle for PC application appears pinned at the top of the Start Menu, but not in the menu below.

I would like to "unpin" it but want to be able to access it from the Start Menu.

The help file is no help.

Sorry, there is a misunderstanding: you can put a program in the menu all programs.  I thought that you wanted to put in the box above that.

If you want to put in the menu all programs, here's how:

    1. Click all programs and choose open
    2. Drag the icon into the folder that appears (as you say, it's like Windows 95/98)

It should put there when the program is installed, but the Setup program takes this decision, some programs do not, others give the user a choice.

  • How can I find out what programs are essential to start?

    Original title: slow start

How can I find out what programs are essential in the implementation, we can stop?

    Windows Home vista 32 premium

    Hey Stella-50,

How slow is slow? For example, my machine (e-machine E4264 2.2 ghz with 2 GB RAM) boots in 95 seconds. For me, I call it, in the average. I am currently in the process of looking for a new machine because it is already 3 years old, so maybe that OEN will be slightly faster to start.

What you can 'turn off' will depend on which in fact initially launches upward and, unfortunately, you have not told us that at this moment. Is that you should not disable your anti software anti-virus (updater). nothing to do with your mouse and your keyboard etc.

Perhaps, if you made a list of what application are actually being run at startup (via the msconfig Startup tab) can someone take a look at them and see if, or what can be disabled.

Otherwise, you might take a glance at Startup Delayer http://www.r2.com.au/software.php?page=2&show=startdelay to see if you can delay the time different applications load to allow windows to start up more quickly. I haven't used so I can't say how good/bad it is.  It's a freeware.

  • How to remove a folder from program files in the C drive?

I tried to remove CA my computer for several days. I just discovered how to manually remove programs. However, will not remove the file CA in my program files. I give permission, and then he said please try again. I don't use this program because of the large amount of questions and he won't let me download an anti-virus up-to-date program. Help, please.

You must uninstall the programs start / Control Panel / programs and features - and then select the program you want to remove, right-click on it and click on uninstall or delete - otherwise the pieces of the program stay in various places throughout the operating system and in the register - it cause you problems later and taking space without good reason.

If you really want to remove this folder to appropriate it.

To resolve this problem with the record of CA, appropriating the folder (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for the folders and files that can change permissions.  You can change now switched to read-only (even if the main folder indicates that they are always read-only - you can access yourself as the owner).  You can now delete the files and folders.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html... If ownership doesn't work, someone has placed a deny access to all user somewhere safe - you have to find that entry and delete it and then you will be able to delete the files and folders.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

  • Windows Live Mail does not present as an option for default programs or in the Start Menu.

Something happened this week. I can't identify enough exactly when so I can't say with certainty whether or not it is the new update of 2011.

I use Windows Live Mail (desktop application) for the mail. It is installed and since I built the machine first. I've recently updated for 2011 through Windows Update. In the Start Menu, the default e-mail link no longer works. If I go to customize, I have the options of Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, and Outlook. If I select Windows Live Mail, it launches a web browser to go to live.com and use Hotmail (which I don't use).

Now, if I choose Windows Mail, and then re - open Windows Live Mail manually, I can set it by default. In this case, when I go back into the Start Menu, the link is there but empty and you get a message that "the selected item is not available. It might have been moved, renamed, or deleted. You want to remove from the list? "I can't get around that. Under "Default programs" in the Control Panel, Windows Live Mail is not yet there. It's as if she is not yet installed, and whatever the shortcut points to (wherever it may be) is apparently nothing. In the registry, under HKLM/Software/customers/Mail, there is no key for 'DLLPath' and "LocalizedString" as there are other programs.

I must point out that repair installation does not help and neither does file and reinstalling.

I managed to solve the problem.  I received an email from another user and I'm sorry to say, I do not remember what were the instructions in the email.  The answer to (y) our problem used to exist on the web, until Microsoft has removed the old answers live site, or something like that.

IIRC, I believe that it was fixing the misdirected registry keys.

Where can I find the program files that appeared when I clicked on the Start button in older versions of Windows?

I would definitely recommend getting the update: it solves a lot of problems and significantly accelerates things.  But if you haven't yet done so, the option "All Apps" is nestled in a toolbar.  You can right click on an empty area of your home page to display the toolbar.
