  • How can I get my email without entering a password every time?

It seems that now I have to enter my password every time I use Tbird to download my email. Previous to this problem, two things:
    (1) my e-mail account had been compromised, so I changed the password with my ISP.

    (2) I tried to use a master password to Tbird Options > Security and it is a pain. So I decided that I didn't want to use a master password and wanted to return to my e-mail downloads how did before, so I disabled the master password.

Options > password security guard is populated by several email addresses and password. I want to keep them intact - but if I want to change the password, or delete it, the instructions indicate that all passwords will be lost. Do I need them in this place? I find that things don't quite work if I delete them the strike.

I always get guests to enter a password when I use Tbird - my ISP password, it turns out that, not for my master password. I'm confused and want just that he make it simple again.

If I want to change the password, or remove, the instructions say that all passwords will be lost.

I don't know what are the instructions you're talking about, but I don't think that is correct. See

Wen I turn on, I can point to enter my password. I entered my password and the screen displays a symbol of shooting and seems to expect something to go. The mouse does not work and none of the keys work. I have WIFI in my house, but the system looks like it's waiting to connect. I waited for more than 10 minutes. The only thing I can do is press and hold the switch down for a few seconds until there is a power down. I then power back up and get my password again. I between it and the system is in place OK. It happens all the time. It all started about 2 weeks ago. I have not loaded all the apps since it worked normally. Also, if I am growing up and running and I doi a stop with a reboot, the system comes down and restarts and arrives at the passwword. Enter the password and I have hung up again.

My computer is asleep after a few minutes. Then I have to enter a password to reactivate.  I want to be able to change the settings for a time of sleep of my choice. I don't want to have to enter a password to wake the computer either. I went to user accounts and tried to change the settings, but they do not save the changes.

What happens when you try to change the power plan?
You shouldn't need administrator rights to change the settings in most situations.

  • My computer is now requires me to type a password every time I log in. Is there a way to make that disappears?

I've just fixed and Geek Squad installed Windows 7 Home Premium edition - is not happy so far.

1 I guess Windows 7 Home Premium is the edition shown on your certificate of authenticity [CoA] or you start having problems with the system.  For Windows, which was preinstalled by the PC manufacturer, the COA is on your box or inside the compartment batteries.  For the sale to the retail-purchased Windows 7 product key is inside the package that the media [2 DVDs] came in.

2 the certificate of authenticity [see How to Tell - What to look for and for examples] allows the edition of Windows 7 that it is valid for & product key [which you should take note of].

3 before installing a derivation of the password for your account on the day the day you do this: -.

3.1 for decent race & security system, you should create two user accounts 'Admin' password-protected & downgrade your own account on the day the day to be a "Standard" user account  I suspect that you are currently using with an Admin account for your daily activities.  See precautionary measures 1 - create two additional administrator accounts

3.2 operating daily while only logged on as an Admin increases your risk of having malware "Trojan", planted on your PC.  See Why use a standard instead of an administrator account user account

3.3 create a reset disk of password for each account on the PC.  See precautionary measure 2 - Make & test a password for each account reset disk

4 when this is done then you can configure a bypass road so that you get automatically on your Standard user account on a daily basis without having to enter a password.

4.1 a click in the search box of the start & menu type netplwiz and then click the shortcut that is offered to you in the [list] dialog box.  Select one of the names of the Admin account and enter its password to allow this step.

4.2 uncheck users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.  Select the name of your account on the day the day in the list & click OK.  Set the password for this account [if it has not been set then leave the entry blank].  Click OK.

4.3 check the box that users must enter a user name and password to use this computer again, and then click OK again.

4.3 when you start the system, then you will go directly on the account of your choice.

  • Firefox ask you useless master password every time you start

When he started, Firefox asks unnecessarily my master password every time. My homepage (Google Finance) does not require a password. This occurs in SafeMode as well. It's annoying and time consuming. I X-out the main 10 seconds password request window after I start Firefox. Why would he do that? ... Firefox not used to do this.

    You use Sync?

The synchronization used in Firefox 34 version then use password manager to store the name (e-mail) and password to use to connect to the synchronization server.

Earlier versions of Firefox used to store these data in the signedInUser.json file in the profile folder, but the current version only stores the sessionToken in this folder and need the password for the password manager.

How can I disable compacting of emails, I'm some lose every time I compact.

You can't turn it off, and if you could, you would lose all your messages eventually. You can have a file corruption, and I would advise to create a new identity.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it's the default main identity. File | Identity | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.

    About file Corruption:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/IE/community/columns/filecorruption.mspx

Compacting your folders periodically is a must to keep OE works fine and at some point, you may lose all your saved messages if you do not. When you delete or move messages, the space they used remains until you compact.

Never touch anything until the compression is finished.* *.

    See:
    www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2

With SP2, Automatic compaction in the background has been removed because of problems he has caused. Now, you will get a prompt to compact after 100 closures of OE, you need to do, and do not touch anything until it's finished. If you compact manually, at your convenience, this will also set the counter to zero. See this for more information:
    http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm#compact

If you are fully patched, you will now see a copy of your dbx files copied to the Recycle Bin as BAK files. If something goes wrong when compacting, the messages can be easily restored from this backup. A compact manual resets also the counter in the back of the registry to zero now.

For more information, see the information framed in red here:
    www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2

To keep things running smooth and harden faster:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. It will eventually become corrupt and you may lose mail. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

    And backup often.

There are a lot of options built into Windows to help you out of this situation:
    • Restart the computer with your Windows repair CD, then use system restore to set Windows in a few days (only works if you have recently changed the password).
    • Log on to your account admin to spare, and then reset the password for your existing account (works only if you set up an alternative admin account).
    • Log in as administrator mode without failure, then reset the password for your existing account (the password is usually empty).
    • Insert your flash drive USB with the password key file (only works if you have taken the time to create such a key file).
    • Use the password indicator (works only if you have created a hint and if it's good enough to allow you to guess the password)
    • Check your paper files (works only if you threw down the password somewhere)
Lose your data: there are three groups of people:
    • The largest group: those who do not back up their important files or save them only once in a blue moon.
    • A small group: those who now save their files frequently because they have suffered a major disaster.
    • The smallest group: those who back up their files regularly on an external storage medium because they prefer not to wait for the disaster to happen.

There is a gradual migration from the first to the second group. The transition can be extremely painful. In your case that is the cure will be a lot of time. Start your computer with a boot of Ubuntu CD and then use it to copy your personal files to an external drive.

I tried to import pictures from my camera card, on desktop and my "photos" on my Mac.  I get an error every time which includes: not able to copy a file to the requested location.  Help, please!

Make sure you have the destination (TO - the column on the right in the import screen) set to a location where you have write privileges on your computer. The level of the root of your hard drive is usually not writable with the standard user on mac os X configuration. Generally, you want something like the pictures folder in your home (/Users/photos) directory.
