How to turn off/turn on my notebook computer touchpad under vista home premium?

I have a model laptop Medion MD 96420. When I write something, I often accidentally brush on the touchpad with annoying effect.

I asked Medion customer support and I was told that it is a software problem. A big problem, apparently.

Hi josefgrubert,

Follow these methods.

Method 1: Follow these steps:

(a) go to control panel, mouse and device settings tab.

(b) click on enable or disable.

Note: On some models, there is a keyboard shortcut to enable or disable the touchpad. For example, just do Fn + F7 or F8.

Method 2: Perform a clean boot to see if there is a conflict of software like the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting steps, follow step 7 in the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

    Thank you

    Hi Scott

The Touchpad settings and options will vary between manufacturers of laptop computers, depending on the brand of the touchpad that installs the manufacturer.

Open the Control Panel/mouse properties. Looking for a touchpad tab where you will find these settings. If this does not work, search for a distinct Touchpad component in Control Panel.

You can also view documentation for this laptop for more information or contact the support of laptop manufacturers.

    Tell us what you find.

    Hi kikstart2,

For the CD/DVD drive problem, try the following steps.
    1. visit the following Web site, click the "Run now" button and follow the instructions in the wizard to run the tool: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cd_dvd_drive_problems
    2. once the tool is running, restart the computer.
    3. Insert the CD / DVD and check if it works very well.

NOTE: There is no option to repair/reinstall Windows Media Player on Windows Vista.

If the problem persists, restore the computer to an earlier time when everything worked well. To do this, try the following steps.
    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box and press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    2. click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.

  • How can I get rid of Astromenda.in Firefox run in Vista Home Premium

I received a message that I thought was since Mozilla Firefox saying I need to update Adobe Flash Player. I did and ended up with Astromenda.

I went to control panel configuration/programs and features, Astromenda and uninstalled. Then I adjusted my options for my Firefox home page and got rid of Astromenda on the opening of Firefox. However, if I hit the '+' tab for a new tab, I get a 'search' Astromenda tab. I went to 'searchplugins' in Firefox profile and found Astromenda.xml and replaced by safesearch.xml. Did not help, Astromenda is still there when I add a new tab.

I'm going on the web and found Web sites on how to get rid of the Astromenda but they want to download me various adware cleaning tools, but I am reluctant to download anything at this point unless it is sanctioned by Mozilla Firefox.

    Thank you

It is not possible to reset the guest account. To work around the problem, you can create another account to guest.

  • How can I get Aero Glass to work in sp2 to Vista Home premium?

Specifically, I can't the sidebar t o go transparent as if it was at first. It worked when I first got the computer (Dell Studio 17), but somehow stopped. All the other solutions seem to refer to windows 7.  My Control Panel has none of the tabs referred to in difficulty.  It does not meet the "convenience store" or "Troubleshooting" also I run Firefox, not IE cause I'm always with bugs.  The auto fix - it wouldn't run or download in firefox.

    Hello

    (a) use Internet Explorer to download and run the fix - it.

    (b) run services.msc from the line of departure and search, locate the themes service, and then select. Use the start/restart option. Once it is loaded and executed, check Control Panel/Customization/Themes and select the Windows Vista theme. • How can I get a Dell J740 to work with Windows Vista Home Premium?

Someone gave me a Dell J740 printer but it won't work with my Windows Vista. As much reading as I did, I do not believe it is compatible. I wish they would do the printers to work with any laptop, computers. It would be too easy.

You seem to have stumbled in the Windows 7 section of this site instead of the part of Vista. Never mind. The answer is the same, unfortunately.

It doesn't seem to be a Windows driver for this printer for Vista or Windows 7.

  • How can I stop Windows Update restart my computer in Windows 7 Home Premium?

While I don't mind Windows Update automatically updates from my PC, view it force a reboot when I am connected causes a problem.  I currently have WU configured to perform updates to 03:00, and when it's over, if to do a reboot, I'm not here to tell him to wait.  I'd rather leave time settings as they are and simply disable the auto restart, opting instead for WU to let me know that he needs to restart the PC.  I found ways to do this on XP and Vista, including registry changes and changes to group policy.  However, the registry is obviously a little different, so the keys do not exist compared to what I found, and since I am running Home Premium I have no gpedit.

Where in the registry can I make a change so I do not data lost when WU resets my computer at night?

Another way to do it without hacking the registry, which can be scary for some users), is to follow the instructions on the following Web site:

    http://weblogs.ASP.NET/jgalloway/archive/2006/02/11/438009.aspx

I stuck in the main rooms, in the cases where the link is dead (but not nice photo well):

    1. Click Start-> Run (or Vista and 7 just press the windows ORB)
    2. Type: gpedit.msc
    3. Expand Local computer policy / Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Windows Update
    4. Double-click on "to demand no auto restart for automatic updates installations".
    5. Select 'Active', then OK. Close the group policy configuration program.

    This should stop it autorestarting.

I highly recommend that you do * not * try disabling all processes.  Although there may be some that you don't need, you'll save time very little by doing this, and you are much more likely to create a serious problem that in order to solve one.

Also, turning off * everything * automatic start of programs in MSCONFIG is not a good idea. Here is my standard message on the subject:

First of all, note that you should be in * all * the programs that start automatically, not only with those who are in the system tray. Not all the programs auto-start manifesting by an icon in the status bar.

On each program, you don't want to automatically start, check its Options to see if she has the choice to not start (make sure that you actually choose to not run, not simply a "don't display the icon" option). Many can easily and better be arrested like that. If this does not work, run MSCONFIG from the start. Run the line and on the Startup tab, uncheck the programs that you do not want to automatically start.

However, if I were you, I wouldn't do this just for the purpose of the minimum number of running programs. Despite what a lot of people tell you, you should be concerned, not with the way * a lot * of these programs you run, but * that *. Some of them can seriously affect the performance, but others have no effect on performance.

Don't stop all programs to run willy-nilly. What you need to do is to determine what each program is that its value is for you and what the performance cost is running all the time. You can try searching the Internet and ask questions about the details here.

Once you have this information, you can make a smart informed decision on what you want to keep and what you want to get rid of.

    Hello

You are unable to update or upgrade Vista 32 bit to 64 bit of Vista.

32-bit to 64-bit, or 64 bit to 32 bit is done by a new installation using a full version of the operating system.

32-bit and 64-bit are different operating systems.
