How to upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Professional for Mac 8.0.0 to 8.1.3?

I have a client who has an old iMac 2008 who was happily running Adobe Acrobat Professional for Mac v 8.0.0. Now that it has installed Snow Leopard (in order for Dropbox continue working) Acrobat Pro does not open. Is there a way to update to 8.1.3 does anyone know? It is not, and I certainly do not, want him to spring for $450 for the Pro version, unless absolutely necessary. All answers there? Thank you!
